I know it’s crazy because I’m seeing the tour again in May when it hits the Lowry but I’m seriously thinking of booking for London. Sir Cam has had a lodda £ out of me lately.

I really enjoyed the tour version I saw in Newcastle. if I had the money I would sit in the stalls for this production, as you can really appreciate the scenic design from that angle.

As someone who is a fan of the original production and will miss it dearly, I'm up for giving this new production a go. I don't think it's fair to called it a 'cheap' version of the show, it's the same story but told in a different style and staging. Essentially, it still is Les Mis.

You can see the same show for half the price , if there's any tickets left at the Marlowe an hour a way , or in one of the other stops on the 2020 leg of the tour? Dean ,Nic and Katie are almost certainly a stronger cast too.

Does anyone have any idea how long the cast are contracted for in this initial run? I know CFH and Rachelle Ann Go are swapping around for a bit, but I was wondering about the rest of them. We've not booked our tickets yet and need to get on it but it'll have to be some point next year and I don't want to miss Bradley & Jon etc. Thanks!

I imagine cast change will now be a January one, so I would imagine this cast are contracted until January 2021. Back in the Queens days, cast change was always in June but I don’t know if this is the case now.

Only the idea of seeing Josefina Gabrielle would take me too see this but then again I would have never cast her as Madame Thenardier. Big fan of the original. It’s perfectly fine to revive shows in new ways but there was not excuse To close the original. I’m perplexed that some audiences claim not to notice any difference. It says a lot... Still glad that people enjoy it and the show leaves on. Saw the original about 20 something times and this twice (25th anniversary at the Barbican and tour at the Liceu in Barcelona) and overall it’s not better. A mixed of both productions with a revolving stage would be perfect but we all know that this is not not possible because producers greediness is the only reason behind all this. Very sad. Or I’m getting old and don’t know how to move with the times. Please don’t judge.

Anyone else find it strange that Les Misérables is currently not playing in the West End?

I imagine the AA seats for the upper circle haven't been released yet? My poor self might be able to go in January and I do love those seats for the price they are and the view you get. Although your back is in bits by the end of it all.

They've just released more side seats on all levels- no AA yet but definitely a fair number of A and B at the £17.50 mark. Still some of those seats left for opening night!

There are, as I type this, two very good seats in Stalls row B available @ £87.50 on Thursday 19 December, 7.30pm. Also, among a few other decent seats, there's one in the front row of the Dress Circle same price.

Wow they are charging £55/£60 for the first two slips (A1&2 A35&34) seats thats double the price of the first one. What a rip off unless they magically made space there is still no room there.

Anybody on here going tonight? I'm in tonight - very familiar with the staging from the last Broadway revival and the tour, so by this point I'm mainly interested in Jon Robyn's take on Valjean.
I'm also very miffed that the slip seats I used to book for £25 two years ago are now £55. There's a brief glimpse of the slips in this video at 3:40, and it still looks just as narrow and uncomfortable as ever:

Anybody on here going tonight? I am- very interested in how they'll have "built out" the proscenium to let the new sets blend into the theatre.

That's annoying, they were my go to. More greed from Mackintosh.

I’m interested to know how xanady and aingidh have managed to rate this without seeing it? The poll is for people who have seen the new west end show.

I was basing my opinion on the tour - I misread the poll and thought it was just this version of Les Mis as a whole and not specifically the one currently midway through act 1 at the Sondheim. Vote removed.

Also based my vote on the tour version which is exactly the same version that is going into London. What is different about it? Are we rating the decor in the theatre or the quality of the ice-cream? Or are we rating the same crass, cheap god-awful version I saw in Brum because if so then it’s a one-star review if that. Vote removed due to name-shaming.

It was a very good 4 stars from me. Excellent Javert; to my ear, Valjean was ever so slightly flat in "Bring Him Home". Nice projections, though the suicide scene was messy - needs more practice. It's Les Mis - the fresher version (now nearly 10 years old) is different but still good. Shame they've taken the epic church organ out/down in "Stars". Nice set, didn't miss the revolve. The theatre is beautiful; as good a job as the Victoria Palace. And free drinks from Cameron - what's not to like? Ummm, the view from C1 of upper circle. Poor in first half, rescued by upper level barricade action second half. The barricade scene loses the impact of the deaths somewhat, and carting Enjolras and Gavroche off in a wheelbarrow feels a bit odd to me. It's a good show though and will outlive most humans. Vive la resistance, and let random clapping in time be reserved for "Only Fools and Horses".
EDIT: fantastic sound design which in my opinion set a new bar for quality. Could see the sound design picking up awards. Not so much the surround sound bullet pings, though they are nice. The orchestra sounded utterly fantastic. Oh and Claude Michel Schonberg was in the house too.
