lynette , in my top 3 and definitely the best new play of the year, will be very surprised if you are disappointed. Currently reading Howards End to add a different perspective for when I see the transfer on the 22nd, doing the two show day as a pre Christmas treat. As in every good book there is always a sentence that resonates, ‘Money was the fruit of self-denial....’ my savings account can attest to my failure in this endeavour.

Having seen this at the YV early in the run
I find it amazing
People think the characters are “real”
Fortunately I don’t know any such disturbed arrogant or self indulgent people As those portrayed in this play
Mainly all stereotypes who need a slap round the face
And am glad of it

Does anyone know if they sell posters at the theatre? When I was there about 2 weeks ago they didn’t. There was the book, programme, a shirt & a couple other things, but no poster i’m afraid.

So I booked for both and received the discount. Thank you. Now I’m told they are filming one of them so they have to move me into the front stalls 👍 Sometimes the sun shines on the righteous eh?

Disappointing. Would have loved to have said hello but tomorrow is my attempt to hook my nieces onto theatre so I will be on full entertainment mode.

Have bitten the bullet and booked a second trip! Need to see it again to confirm that it is the best thing I’ve seen this year.

I don't doubt that you are, Lynette, but how did the theatre know you were so photogenic? Are you a secret celeb?

Saw part 2 for the 4th time recently. A couple of rows in front of me (in the premium stalls seats) was a family with 2 girls who couldn’t have been older than 6 or 7 years old. They managed to last a lot longer than I was expecting, up until a scene around 30/45 minutes in with especially colourful sexual language, when they were swiftly hurried out by concerned looking parents.
How can people be so oblivious? Surely they would have been told on entry it wouldn’t be suitable for kids that young?

Dare I hazard a guess that there have been a certain amount of comps available for this show recently and some people will just grab tickets looking for a cheap night out. And (at least where I've seen these advertised), the information about exactly what the play is about isn't too revealing.
But yes, the ushers should certainly have said something, but by the same token it's not the easiest subject to broach if the family have got all the way to the seats. And I've reactions where certain types of liberal parents always know what's best for their children.
Presumably they also hadn't seen part one, which would make this one rather difficult for young children to follow, regardless of the content?

Can’t have had the foggiest what it’s about. I am amazed no one enlightened them before it started though!

Weird! It's hard to miss the content warning on the main booking site (it's at the top of every single page when you make a booking), and some agency sites say "no children under 10" although the official site just has 14+ as an age advisory. Surprised the front of house staff didn't say something, but possibly they did and the ticket-holders chose to ignore them?

Apart from the content issues, kids would be bored senseless.

Before it started I saw an usher approaching them in their seats, expecting them to then get up to leave, but instead the usher handed them booster cushions! I think you’re probably right Dr Tom regarding the tickets being comps. I just had a look at the email I received before I booked my tickets for that performance and it doesn’t mention anything about an age restriction/guidance, but still - the description doesn’t sound exactly 6 year old friendly! Almost as good as the time I saw someone selling tickets for ‘Frozen’ on Facebook (you know, the play about the child molester) because they’d bought them thinking it was the Disney musical.

Dash it, there have been many plays I've seen with the mens and the gayers and the nudies where I could have done with a booster cushion to get a better view. Where were the ushers then huh?

If only I’d known that was an option! On a serious note that is weird. But ushers/theatre can only advise so its up to them. But the best related example of that I had was on tour where a man brought his I think about 10-12 year old daughter to Pricilla which had a 15 plus “guidance” on it. We explained that to him, he asked a few questions about content and said he’d rather he see something like that with him where he could discuss it, and was happy to stay. And they seemed to have a lovely time. Of course Inheritance is quite the different beast! In terms of language and content ...I wonder if it was one of the parents who booked it and they go a right earful on the way home...

It would be such a horrible distraction to the actors to have to perform such clearly unsuitable material in front of children. I bet they were delighted when the family left.
