Enjoying the revival series a lot so far! Booked for their 2018 tour this morning - anyone else going?

New episodes are quite superb. I'm booked for Liverpool, had to abandon the farce of Manchester on ticketmaster.

The tour consists of local shows for local people.
Good luck!

I found ticketmaster was showing venues as sold out but there were plenty of tickets available direct from the venue.

Not watched the new series yet, I will watch all of it together when I get chance . I was very surprised to see a live tour is planned, I saw the last one and it’s one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen . The first half where the league of gentlemen did sketches as “themselves” was superb, and such a revelation . Glad to see them back together .

The new series is wonderful. The bingo caller scene last night was masterful.

I'm tempted by this but really don't like arenas.

Not all the shows are in arenas - the London shows are in the Hammersmith Apollo (although they have added some shows at the O2, I believe) and they are playing for instance the Oxford New Theatre (which is right next to the coach station where the bus back to London goes from, if that helps!)

Thanks, but budgetwise I think it would have to be local! The local gig for me is the Liverpool Echo Arena.

Managed to bag 2x tickets for Manchester Apollo after a very stressful few minutes. Really not a fan of comedy/spoken word in arenas so glad I could get to this in almost a theatre-type space. Waiting for Ep3 to show and going to binge all 3 over Christmas. Big fan.

Was one hour late for booking. No decent seats left for London, Manchester Apollo and Leeds Arena - so I was happy to get a decent seat for Manchester Arena. Just need to bag a flight with Ryan Air to Manchester- then it is as good as local to me. Leaugue of Gentlemen has always been one of my favourite comedy series and it has even been shown on German TV.

Yep, booking for Hammersmith was a bit of a bunfight. A night at the O2 goes on sale today, I guess that means no local dates or tour..
Series has been great, thoroughly enjoying Inside No9 again too.

I wasn’t going to go to the live show , I haven’t yet seen the new series, and I have such happy memories of the last tour . Then an old friend texted saying how much she was enjoying the new series and she’d like to see the live show, so I thought it’d be a good laugh together. The Blackpool opera house and Manchester Apollo are sold out and I’m not paying agency prices , but I got us seats at the Manchester arena , not the best venue for a comedy show, ok for a solo act maybe .

Saw this last night - great stuff! Glad I saw it in a theatre not an arena though. First half is a bit of a "greatest hits" set with them all performing in dinner suits, minimal props.
After the interval it gets much more elaborate - this is mostly a sequel to the recent series, with full costumes, sets, fast changes etc. Great musical number for Tubs and Edward.
Oddly the people next to us didn't come back after the interval, maybe put off by the style of the first half, so they'll be annoyed when they find out what the second act is like!
Running time about 2 hours including interval - 40 minute first half, an hour or so for the second half. Some slightly embarrassing audience involvement in the second half. Not sure if the two people brought up on stage were pre-warned. A couple are brought up on stage for a "German Oral" lesson with Herr Lipp
Programmes are £15 (!) although looked quite thick. And due to the bar queues we turned to the dark side and used the ATG "Ordertorium" service.

I am seeing it on 27 September and very excited. I saw them on their last national tour just after the second series, which my mum paid for!

Enjoyed the show at Manchester Arena last Saturday. Would have been preferable in a Theatre, it was difficult at times to concentrate on the show from a distance , even the screens were so far away. I don’t think I’d go to a “production” type show again at such a big venue. but still one of the funniest acts I’ve ever seen, very surreal of course , but so clever and laugh out loud funny. The first half sees the League of Gentlemen in dinner jackets performing sketches most of which are well known from their last tour and DVD ..... go Johnny go go go go !! The second half is a masterful follow on to their “come back” tv series last winter. Thoroughly enjoyable show , not spoiled by the bad behaviour of my immediate neighbours ..... the seemingly ubiquitous phone /texting issue . I’ve put it in the bad behaviour thread.

Saw it in Liverpool last night. It's a good show, wonderful in places. Odd seeing comedy in an arena though - I don't think I've never been to anything bigger than the Liverpool Empire before.

Yeah I'm really not a fan of Comedy in arenas. Have seen various and always found it a bit disconnected. Glad I got tickets for Manchester Apollo for this instead.

Really enjoyed this at the Birmingham Arena last Friday, although I agree there's a real disconnection when seeing something like this in an arena. The sound during the Les McQueen song was dreadful, I barely caught any of the lyrics. Strange as the sound was relatively good during Tubbs & Edward's song, I guess they must have had too much volume on Les's guitar. Other than that though it was a real good treat (mmm!)... a really good balance of new material and the greatest hits. Quite a bit for fans of theatre to have a giggle at, too: {Spoiler - click to view}Legz Akimbo: "I'm a Horse!" "It's a War!"
...and Ollie ranting about how theatre should be more than men banging dustbin lids -- "that won a f@*king Olivier in '94!"
I was initially disappointed by how much the programme cost, but as mentioned above it's actually rather hefty and has loads of great material in it. Thankfully there are hardly any adverts either - from first glance it looks like only 1 page about the LoG vinyl release. Some lovely merchandise too, I got a nice Papa Laz t-shirt. Perhaps the most bizarre moment of the evening was Birmingham Arena proudly declaring their "cashless bar" above 4 bartenders, only 2 of whom were accepting card payment. "Anyone paying cash?" the other two were shouting down the astonishingly long queue!

The sound during the Les McQueen song was dreadful, I barely caught any of the lyrics. Similar problem in the Echo Arena. I haven't been before, but a friend who goes a lot says the acoustics are awful, though, as with you, I thought the Tubbs and Edward duet sounded good. The audience were well behaved - a few phones out briefly to film Papa Lazarou and other favourites and a few latecomers but far, far better behaved than the more middle-class, Guardianista audience for Stewart Lee at the Philharmonic that the same friend took me to a few months ago - there wasn't a minute there where someone wasn't going out or coming in from the loo/bar - Lee even took to singling some out, to no avail.

Gutted I can't see this. Gonna have to settle for the live DVD which is sat at the top of my Christmas list. Perfect Boxing Day telly.

As far as arenas go, the Echo (despite its name) is one of the better sounding and easier to work in.
