I am all for it moving to a bigger theatre, but would it still work?The tour will decide that to some extent. I thought when Six would tour it would play smaller similar sized venues to the Arts Theatre but with it playing some venues which hold near or over 2,000 then it did occur to me why hasn't it moved into a larger London venue. I'm not talking about one of the very biggest London Theatres but something 600 to 1,000 would make commercial sense to me.

My theory is that the producers are waiting for "Play that Goes Wrong" to quieten down and then move Six to the Duchess. Same producer so could be a possibility. Wouldn’t the Criterion be more likely as Comedy About a Bank Robbery doesn’t sell as well as The Play that Goes Wrong.

There is a lot of demand for the 600-1000 seaters, many of them are not unavailable for a while. Also rents go up once you hit the higher capacity theatres and that may be a factor why they haven’t moved theatres

The producers love the grungy concert vibe of the Arts, so I'm unsure as to whether they'd want to move. If anything, the tour going into larger venues means it makes more sense for them to stay in a small London venue. Who knows!

It looks like TPTGW is still selling pretty well. It's certainly harder to get cheap or last minute tickets for than TCAABR & they don't seem in a hurry to close that.

I think it would done have well off-Broadway but Broadway is a bit jumping the gun IMO especially in a venue as big as the Brooks Atkinson.

In my (unpopular) opinion, the show - which I didn't dislike - is a smart end of term revue written by a couple of clever students, and not a substantial evening in the theatre. I would be very happy to be proved wrong, but I don't feel that this 70-minute piece making the leap to a Broadway house is the right choice. But what do I know?

It's hasn't been re-written for its American premier in Chicago, and I have a feeling it won't be for the other productions coming up in the North America. It's done "in American" and it seems to just work out.

I think they should have opted for a smaller theatre like the Golden, Booth or Hudson as the Brooks is more akin to the Savoy or the Phoenix in terms of capacity

I would say theatre availability, once shows close on Broadway, theatres are snapped up by incoming shows looking for homes

I think it would done have well off-Broadway but Broadway is a bit jumping the gun IMO especially in a venue as big as the Brooks Atkinson. It's the first announced show for the next season that actually has an original score. We could use one of those.

Wold of mouth for this in Chicago is terrific on BWW.
Six was looking at going into the Longacre originally after The Prom closed. Those 3 extra seats will make a big difference at the box office.
The run of the show can be sustained on Broadway if the producers keep the costs low. It will arrive on Broadway as a developed show, so if the producers can keep the set up costs around $5m and the weekly running cost low as it is only a small cast/band at around $400k a week, this will be fine. It they go extravagant in that they need premium tickets to survive this will be dead in the water.
Say it does reasonably well and then posts closing noticed, there is no reason why it can't move to the New World Stages, off Broadway.

People have opined the short running time, which I am fine with.
However as if the show is so short why is this locked into the regimented 8 shows a week? I am saying this because I would love to see this on Broadway, but not at the expense of another show. You know the regular Broadway set up is Tuesday to Sunday, with 5 evening shows and 3 matinees (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday) seems quite sacrosanct on. With 70 minute run time, you think they could do 10-12 shows a week.
I have already decided not to go back to New York as nothing is opening that inspires me to go.
If they did a 6pm show on a Friday or 10pm Saturday show, I would be there.

The Brooks Atkinson is just over 1k capacity so on the smaller side for broadway theatres. I think it’ll work fine in there as a show from a production POV, but I do worry, like others have said, that it’s just too big a theatre to sustain a show like Six, with the short run time and the young audience. It’s not a Be More Chill but it also caters to a younger demographic. I hope it does well though. I’m still sad Waitress is closing, but it cheers me up that it’s being replaced by a show I really like at least 😆
