It seems pretty poor that the UK's biggest theatre awards will be seen live by people everywhere except in the UK. With social media we will all know who's won before ITV deigns to show it. The ITV highlights show features the performances and the glamour. The nominations and the winners are the boring bit for most general viewers and the programme skips over that, and omits many of the categories until listing the winners in the final credits at unreadable speed.

Am just reading Shenton's views of who he wants to win what, was he one of the ones who raved about BILB? Because he has said he wants it to win pretty much every category it is nominated in, including Best Musical. I mean, I know he was a fan, and I am sure it will win that weird Achievement in Music category but still...
Whereas, in every category other than Best Actor in a Musical for Killian, he completely s**ts on Kinky Boots, which I am assuming he hated a lot based on his views and opinions?

I'm surprised Shenton is prophesizing Olivier for Jamie Parker. I mean I would be the first one to get nuts about that and Jamie deserves it thousand times over but I feel it's not gonna happen, not this year.. Hope I am mistaken and he's right though ))

I am hoping for Matt but I would be thrilled for Jamie too.

To be honest, as soon as I saw he wants Bugsy Malone to beat Gypsy for Musical Revival, I soon realised he was deluded.

I don't know what it was people didn't like about him. I thought he was extremely talented when I saw the show and he was exceptionally good in the scene where he sung 'Soul of a Man'.

No I would agree. Of those four, he's the one I would go for. Lola is the more "showy" part though so I guess that's why he's overshadowed by Matt Henry somewhat. Loved David Haig but it wasn't really a stretch for him as he was playing a variation of David Haig. Jamie Parker was OK but he doesn't stand out from any other competent leading man in London's glitzy West End. Plus on the night I saw G&D he completely ballsed up 'Luck Be A Lady'. The last note was a real clunker.

I actually really liked Killian now than at the beginning. I wasn't a big fan at first but now I have seen it three times with both him and Matt, I have grown to really like Killian as Charlie. That said, I am rooting for Matt Henry because I think, having seen all five of the men in their respective roles, he is the strongest.
My order would be, in preference:
Winner: Matt Henry 2nd: Jamie Parker 3rd: Killian Donnelly 4th: Ian Bartholomew 5th: David Haig

Glad to know there's more people who thought Killian was amazing!
What's Ian Bartholomew like? He's the only contender I haven't seen.
Excluding Ian, my order would be 1) Killian Donnelly 2) Matt Henry 3) Jamie Parker 4) David Haig.

Am I the only one who actually liked Killian?
Nope - I thought he was easily the best thing about KB. (And I was no fangirl before I saw it, either.)

I wasn't wowed by Killian or Matt. They were good and I loved the show. Maybe it was an off night.
I've not seen Mrs Henderson Presents but out of the four performances I have seen, I'd have to give it to Jamie Parker, even though I really didn't like the show.

The trouble with Ian is his performance is very one note for the vast majority. He spends most of the show miserable bar one or two scenes, much more than the film and a lot of his songs are very much the same.
It was a good performance but of the three Henderson Actors nominated, Emma has the best shot. And as I said previously, don't be surprised if she beats Lara. Emma literally carries the show on her back and is fantastic. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she won.

Haven't they done these awards yet? We are a third of the way through 2016" well, a quarter say and we should be moving forward. Whose idea was it to have these awards so late? Is it something to do with marketing to the American tour groups in the summer. When do they book their tickets?

I hope you're right about Emma Williams, Daniel. When was the last time someone in the Supporting Actress category totally dominated a show like she does? That's worth an award to me.

Apologies if this has already been brought up, but thought that everyone would be interested to know that the following article claims that along with the highlights of the awards ceremony broadcast at 22:15 on Sunday 3rd April on ITV1 as usual, the full ceremony will be broadcast a day later (Monday 4th April) on ITV3! Fantastic news in this is the actual plan!
EDIT: Olivier Awards confirm that the full ceremony will be broadcast on ITV3 on Monday 4th April at 11pm! Fantastic!! www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/news/latest-news/article/item357689/vanessa-redgrave-to-appear-at-oliviers/

When do we find out the nominees for the Audience Award? Considering the awards are just a week and a half away.

When do we find out the nominees for the Audience Award? Considering the awards are just a week and a half away. No need to nominate a show. Wicked won last year, so if I remember correctly, they aren't eligible this year, so it's Les Mis' turn.

Ignore my previous post, I have just seen on the website that the four nominees for the Audience Award are:
Jersey Boys Matilda The Musical Les Misérables The Phantom Of The Opera
A win for Les Mis once again are we predicting? I feel bad that Billy Elliot is not nominated as it is nearing the end of its run.

Too late I have just seen on the website that the four nominees for the Audience Award are: Jersey Boys Matilda The Musical Les Misérables The Phantom Of The Opera A win for Les Mis once again are we predicting? I feel bad that Billy Elliot is not nominated as it is nearing the end of its run. Somewhat odd that Book of Mormon wasn't nominated. Out of these four, I'd vote for Jersey Boys, but my bets are on Les Mis (even though I have no idea why this show is still so popu lerlar).

Baz has just announced Cyndi will do a special performance at the show, and not a song from Kinky Boots. Has this pretty much solidified her as recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Music category? As she is such a high profile act...

Les Mis and Wicked seem to alternate as Audience Award winners. It'd be best to bar them from being nominated so that other shows can have a shot.
