Maybe The Last Ship could be a filler I'd love to see this "ship" dock in London. No idea why it failed as badly as it did in New York as the music is gorgeous, but perhaps the story was too British?

Yeah, I actually love the cast recording. Let's face it, it was never gonna be a huge hit but I think it deserves better than what it got. I do think the story was too British for Broadway. Also, the main problem seemed to be getting people excited about it, not the quality of the show (although the book has been critisized a bit). But it should definitely get a production in London. With Rachel Tucker in it and possibly Sting himself, I think it could have a decent run.

Any show that flopped on Broadway isn't going to come to London so that would rule out The Last Ship. The Color Purple would IMO struggle at somewhere like the Piccadilly.

I'm so intrigued to hear what is going to fill the Piccadilly and what the 4 shows in circulation are!
Should be announced soon considering it's only March and they need to promote etc.
Not bothered about seeing FN at all so I wanna see if I am going to be visiting the Piccadilly for any of these other shows!

Jersey Boys doesn't close until end of March so the replacement show won't open until May or June at the earliest

Any show that flopped on Broadway isn't going to come to London so that would rule out The Last Ship. Of course it wouldn't be a big opening in a huge theatre. But this show would probably do a lot better with a British audience. Maybe a UK Tour will happen some day.

I do hope this still comes over as would have been one I'd like to watch. If they are delaying to get Alfie I'd be gutted can think of a lot more people I'd prefer to see.

I wouldn't mind either show, Strictly Ballroom would be my preference since I saw Groundhog Day when it was at the Old Vic

Wouldn't think a musical would come in as a filter show, unless it's coming in from the road. So if a musical did come in and 2 of those 4 suggestions do sound good, they wouldn't want to be anyone's filter.
If there is a filter and I wouldn't be surprised if Billy Elliot makes a return.
Whatever it is we won't find out to the New Year, theatre news drys up over the festive period.

Yes please to Strictly Ballroom although it will be in Toronto until the end of June...saw Groundhog Day but without Andy Karl, I'm not interested. Let's get that glitter ball going in the Ballroom. "I've got my Happy Face on,Les!"

Yeah agreed, I can't imagine Groundhog Day being half the show it was without Andy Karl.

I can see Strcitly Ballroom doing a limited season at the Piccadilly as a filler before FN.
Can't see GroundhoG Day transferring for just a couple of months if it's Alison going Broadway, meaning they'd have to make a new set etc too. If it came to the WE, then surely they'd want it for an open run.
What was this show this with an "amazing leading lady"??

I can see Strcitly Ballroom doing a limited season at the Piccadilly as a filler before FN. Strictly Ballroom is a big new show and would never be a filler for anything. Producers would never get their investment back. A Touring show is a filler... IMO Finding Neverland is dead in the water...producers have got cold feet. Between SB and GHD for the Piccadilly but both these shows are looking at other West End theatres too.

I get the distinct feeling that ATG got cold feet once Alfie Boe announced he was unavailable.
Maybe wrong, this time next year we will know!!
