Not entirely on topic - but why does the ATG phone line keep you waiting so long? The recorded message says they're busy but they usually open greetings with an apology for waiting like it happens all the time.
If I didn't have to use ATG so much I'd give them a miss. Congrats to the Donmar for sacking them!
I book scores of ATG tix and always get the e-mails, so sorry, BurlyBeaR but this time it's personal!
However, I don't aways get the actual tickets mailed to me...

Because despite the fact that they tell you you're calling at local rate, they still make money off the 0844 number. 0844 aren't usually included in your call package (some 08 numbers are) so you're generating revenue for your phone provider albeit at local rates. ATG will take a piece of that.
Also, they don't employ enough people.

Always problems - for the Wicked 10th I ended up chasing so much I actually put a complaint in when I finally got the email confirmation and they reimbursed me £24 in phone calls!

I've had constant problems with Atg and so many phone calls and booking problems throughout the years, they always sort things out but it's frustrating.
I always take screen shots of any bookings now.

Also as an FYI and a massive benefit of the card...I gather it's down to the way the system is run, but logging in with an ATG card "unlocks" all available discounts that are on the system, even those that are not specifically theatre card rates. So it's not uncommon to be looking at tickets last minute and see Travelzoo, Company, Groupon, email offers and the like.

My ATG card is due to run out soon.
Will it automatically re-new and the money be taken from my account?
Thinking of booking everything I need to and then cancelling it for a year.

Yes, if you did a direct debit it will. I cancelled mine as soon as I realised it had renewed itself - I did my get enough use from it last year.

Well I've booked Dreamgirls and Strictly Ballroom with ATG and haven't been charged a booking fee and I don't have an ATG card. I'm not sure why, but am certainly not complaining. I am registered with them though.

Thanks for the replies.
I finally got a reply from ATG and they said to cancel the direct debit with my bank and so ATG will know I want to cancel when they try to take the money after the renewal date.

Have been looking into getting this card as the Bristol Hippodrome is my regular theatre - trying to figure out if it's worth it now :/

I agree, for me this membership pays for itself several times over. I use it at Milton Keynes and half a dozen London venues, and aside from saving on booking fees, there are often £5/£10/£20 off or half price deals. Plus there are perks such as discounts at the bar and free cloakrooms etc. Definitely definitely worth it in my eyes 😁

Have been looking into getting this card as the Bristol Hippodrome is my regular theatre - trying to figure out if it's worth it now :/ ATG have sold my local theatre, Bromley Churchill. However it still offers terrific value for money and I more than recoup the cost of my card. For example if I see a play at Richmond I can get a day ticket with my card for £12, if it is a slow seller. As Bristol is being used as an example, you get get £10 off selected seats and swerve on the booking fee for Wicked, also you get a discount at the bar and and free clockroom, you go and see the next show Hairspray and you can get the same savings, there you have it, you’ve recouped the cost of your card in a month.

I've only had the card for two years but it's paid for itself about five times over with the discounts it's offered. Yes the discounts can vary a lot based on the production but I'd say if you visit a few times a year at least then you'd get your moneys worth from it. It can be worth it just for the no fees/postage, it might not seem like much but it can all quickly add up if you go regularly (London included)

I cover the cost of the card in saved booking fees alone (and the occasional bar discount when I remember!) - any discounted tickets I pick up on top of that are a bonus.

I'm pleased that everyone thinks they are saving money and getting value for money, but if theatres didn't charge patrons a fee for the privilege of giving them custom, there would be less need to join a membership scheme.

I'm certainly not going to disagree with you, of all monkeys, TM. I'm all for supporting the non-profit sector, though often they don't charge booking fees, I just have a particular dislike for the private equity owned ATG (as does Sarah Millican).

Have to voice my dissent about the way ATG Card seems to be going: as previously noted, they seem to have moved away from discounting; such offers as they do have seem confined to things like "£5 off for members on Monday evening" which is not much of a reduction in itself and no good if you can't go on a Monday; also, though I'm on their mailing list for several venues, I NEVER receive any offers by email. I was intrigued to learn (from a post here) last year that there is a standby offer (again, while they wouldn't want people holding off booking in the hope of using this instead, it'd be nice if they let members know), but unless you live close to a venue, you can't take advantage of it.
I appreciate that it still works well for some here and that's great, but I'm seriously wondering whether it's worth the expense for a further year.
