Yes the cast yesterday were Marisha Wallace, Lily Fraser, Jocasta Algmill as the dreams with Carly M Dyer as Michelle.
My grandparents saw the show yesterday and both loved it. They said Marisha was incredible, so so good and brought tears to my Nan!! I don't think they knew who Amber Riley was anyway but so glad Marisha was good! They said the whole production is superb and utter brilliance and all the cast were fantastic. They said Jocasta was really good as well, no mention in Lily but they did say whole cast were incredible.

Im all for a standing ovation at the end of the song, just let me hear the full song first! It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to bed. As the musical is fairly conceptual and sung-through in structure, mercifully it doesn't give the audiences more opportunities to respond like in the old school stop/start song structure. Yeah I was Ok with it too, it worked with the concert feel the show has

Perhaps Ms Friedman's plan is to operate some kind of Lotto style system where the cast are continuously jiggled about so you can never actually predict who you'll be seeing.

So they advertise it includes the song Listen, but it's not the song people know and expect, it's the same title, same tune, completely different lyrics... Which is exactly what's happened! As I said to my friend, the only lyric that remained was the word "listen" !!!! The melody is generally the same, it's just different lyrics, so still kind of the same song.

Going to add to those that are praising Jocasta as Lorell - she was superb on Friday night. She felt a really strong presence on stage around the rather underpowered dreams around her (not including Marisha here!)

In terms of the award season, it could easily notch up the most of the night for nominations, and even win a few. I'd hazard a guess that they have at least 8 locks for nominations:
Best New Musical Best Actress in a Musical (Amber Riley and Lissi LaFontaine) Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Adam J. Bernard) Best Direction Best Choreograhy Best Costume Design Best Lighting Design
Lissi could be in a slot for Best Actress alongside Sheridan, Amber and Glenn easily. Then the fifth slot will be either (I imagine) Devon for Half a Sixpence or Gina for Show Boat. Much as I enjoyed Devon, please let it be Gina!
Joe Aaron Reid could also find himself in the Best Actor mix, would he be considered Lead or Supporting though? I'd also love to see Tyrone Huntley nab a nomination, he was so good but he could get overshadowed. He wouldn't have a winning chance over Adam!
I imagine it will be Adam and Trevor in Aladdin going head to head for the Supporting Actor win!

Tyrone's more likely to be nominated for Jesus Christ Superstar. He definitely deserves to win it for that.

I didn't see Tyrone in JCS, but I wouldn't count out Adam in Dreamgirls either, he is sensational. Adam and Trevor both have very showy roles, so it all depends on what the nominators want to award.

It's Marisha, Lily and Candace tonight. Very impressed with Marisha and Candace. Lily is OK, but her vocals are weaker than the other 2.

That's the general response everyone is saying, Lily is the weakest. Shame as Kimmy Edwards (2nd understudy) got great reviews when she went on as Deena once. Atleast Carly M Dyer is getting a chance to go on as Michelle though whilst Lily is off. Glad Candace is on as Lorell too as I doubt she'll get on as Effie unless all 3 alternates and Amber are ill so atleast she gets on stage this way. Has Marisha been made main alternate? I love how she has come to the UK not being known but has already made a name for herself in the last 2 weeks!!

Anyone who gets the understudy Deena is very lucky indeed.
Cover for Amber- not so lucky.

Is Lily first Deena understudy?
Marisha is awesome. Saw Amber in Dreamgirls but Marisha was amazing in Something Rotten

Anyone who gets the understudy Deena is very lucky indeed. Cover for Amber- not so lucky. We went to the matinee on the 27th and had understudies for Effie, Deena and Lorell. Karen was Effie and she had a great voice but then I haven't seen Amber. Deena definitely wasn't Lily as she was on for Michelle. Our party agreed that she was the weakest of the group. Lorell was also good. I also thought the world of Joe in ITH but I didn't enjoy his voice half as much in this. Tyrone stole the show for me. Sadly I found the whole show to be underwhelming, nice enough costumes and sets and 'I am telling you' was great, but nothing to shout home about as a whole. Having seen school of rock, half a sixpence and she loves me in the days around this it came in 4th place for me.

Ever the pessimist I'm starting to think Amber being off was always a planned holiday that the producers chose not to tell us about at the risk of the sales taking a hit over the Christmas period. It seems too planned to me that last week they bring in an alternate who knows the role already and all they have to do is go through the movement/direction with her!

Amber has been on vocal and bed rest over Christmas judging by her twitter, so it doesn't seem planned to me! And anyway, even if it was planned they didn't need to bring in a third alternate, so not sure how that part of your theory adds up...

I don't think she'd skip out at an interval if it were planned.

I do feel slightly sorry for Karen, being she was, at least, the main alternate but got somewhat mixed reviews at the start of her turns, then Marisha came along and got amazing reviews from the word go and appears to of become the main alternate over Karen judging by the past week. ... but then, Marisha was incredible and deserves to be on that stage as much as anyone else, so I don't feel too bad.

Maybe, but my point was that the mere fact they introduced Marisha now does not provide any evidence that Amber's current absence was planned - there's nothing to say it was anything more than coincidence or fortunate timing (or equally once they realised Amber was ill they may have brought forward Marisha's arrival).

I have to say I'm not surprised that Amber is on vocal rest. The role has a stupid amount of high notes, belting and shouting to do, too much IMO. I don't see how it's possible to perform this 6/7 times a week regularly without ruining your voice.

Amber has never done a musical though has she? Is she up to it, is the obvious question. Presumably she is, or she wouldn't have been cast I'm sure.... One can't help thinking though.... Anyway I'm timing my visit. Early January, hopefully she's got into her stride, she's not *too* homesick and the illnesses haven't started to kick in yet It's like I'm psychic....
