If she ends up getting to the final of love island, she’ll gain lots of following. She is a trained musical theatre actress so could maybe have a future in playing lead roles in London now as a name

Just read on the Broadway World message borad, Jai'Len Josey (currently in SpongeBob) was allegedly one of the actresses set to take the spot played now by Moya in the West End. She sounds amazing singing And I Am Telling You for her age (18 at the time, now 19), but she doesn't appear to have the body type and considering SpongeBob is her debut, it would be a really demanding role for someone of her age and experience to do a role like Effie White. Karen has done it in her debut I was more referring to the fact she is just 19, not only making a her professional debut, but moving countries, having to do anhuge show like this at such a young age.

I've been reading about Love Island and now I know what kind of show that is: rubbish, basically. I guess it could end her theatre career, as people might not take her seriously after that.
Amelia Lilly also did reality TV (Big Brother if I recall correctly) after starring in American Idiot. Has she done anything after that?

Amelia Lilly also did reality TV (Big Brother if I recall correctly) after starring in American Idiot. Has she done anything after that? Amelia Lily is on tour with Shrek at the mo, playing Fiona. Only difference with her in BB is that she went into Celebrity Big Brother, so she was already a 'name', as opposed to the fame-hungry great unwashed who enter the normal version! I don't really think this will hurt this lady's career, unless she does something completely and stupidly life-damaging, more than the usual idiotic stuff that goes on on the show. She may leave the island near the beginning (is that how it works? Never watched) and will go back to her successful theatre career, or she may make it further in the competition where a small group of people know who she is which may lead to higher opportunities in performing - maybe TV work, or leading a musical - but I don't think it could completely end her career. There was a boy on that absolutely god-awful Stage School show on E4 who went onto the ensemble in Dreamgirls after appearing in it. Granted, that "reality" show was performance-related, but that could actually stand to do more harm to your career if you're on TV being crap at what is supposedly your chosen profession!

Just watched this, she's absolutely fantastic. Okay maybe the breath control needs a little work, but she's got the power and the passion needed for the role, if not the body type. I think if they didn't mind casting someone a bit skinnier, she could easily do what Moya does. 2 shows a week except when the lead is on holiday is, if anything, great preparation to be belting 8 times a week.

That girl from love island seems to have been removed from the Dreamgirls website and new member now joined

I still don't understand why would you leave your dreamjob for a TV show like Love Island. But hey, I guess not everyone has the same priorities in life.

Last year's winner was offered a role in the Hairspray tour but turned it down for the show. Her sister was in Les Mis as well

Sian Nathaniel-James has returned to the cast in place of Samira. Funny how the producers keep relying on the old cast to fill in, like Jocasta.

Her sister was in Les Mis as well I’m surprised that winner hasn’t been asked to do a show since winning if she was already a trained MT actress - could be advertised with the “love island winner”. I guess it’s not really the same platform

I'm pretty sure it was for one of the tv performances! She filled in for one of the dreams, the memory is a bit hazy though.

Wow, though the closure isn't surprising, I wouldn't of expected the announcement until after the summer.
Watch Mean Girls be in there by March.

The closure itself hasn’t surprised me but having it this early has. Can only assume they wanted to announce the tour and it seemed fitting to announce closure in the West End at the same time. I’d absolutely love for Mean Girls to go into the Savoy. To the point where I think I’ll be disappointed if anything else goes in instead

So will they still do a cast change in November? And which of the 750 Effies does the final performance?

Shame it couldn’t play for longer but just over 2 years is still a respectable run I guess and can’t wait to see it a few times on tour! Another vote for Mean Girls in here next, or Waitress, though it doesn’t really feel like the right theatre for Waitress.

I don’t see a cast change happening for the sake of two months unless anyone’s desperate to leave. And I can’t see anyone other than Marisha (deservedly so) doing the final show unless they fly Amber back over for the final weeks!

Sad to see this go, but it's had a respectable run.
I'd love to see Mean Girls go in next, but is it too soon? If it were to open March-time, that would be less than a year after it opened on Broadway. Is that normal? Having seen the show in New York I do hope it's that, but equally I wouldn't be surprised if something else drops in as a filler first.

Not surprised at this news at all. It has struggled to become a mega-hit and find broad appeal.
