infofreako if we're ever going to be at the same theatre at the same time I'll bring you some with me there's a bakery on my way to work/Mum's way to her volunteer job that is (hands down, I will fight people on it) the best Welshcake maker in all of Wales. On this subject, I made Welshcakes on St David's day once and my American flatmate left a note saying 'Cool pancakes thanks' ....dude what kind of pancakes did your Mum make?!

They're a bit like scones but flatter, and you griddle them rather than baking them, and they're DELICIOUS.

I've just accidentally kick started a hilarious yet filthy twitter discussion based on the time my supervisor wrote 'I don't understand. Please explain' next to comment bout a joke about anal sex in my PhD. Not going to lie, it's made my morning.
This just after a colleague told us her kid is reading a book called 'Tug Tug' this week....
Lowering the tone has been gleefully brought to you from Cardiff today.

Holidaying at home (with plenty day trips) is going well so far - Wimbledon yesterday, Centre Court thankfully, was fabulous, the drenching we got walking back to the tube a small price for a full afternoon of great tennis we enjoyed, I felt so bad for everyone on the other courts. This afternoon I'm off to Kilworth House Theatre for Kiss Me Kate - a better day than yesterday for an open air theatre, though it looks breezy out, will take layers!

In a far more wholesome update than earlier, my Mum just got approved as a 'Dog Carer' which means she'll be dog-sitting some furballs while their owners are on holiday. A great compromise between getting a new dog just yet!

We have returned from Italy last night and I am so happy we decided to take a day off today as well. Holiday was amazing. We stayed in Bergamo, spent lovely time in Milan, went to Lecco, Varenna and Bellagio at Lake Como and spent a great day in Brescia. It was hot. 30+ degrees hot. We survived. We didn't get sunburnt, we didn't have a sunstroke. Scotland welcomed us with 14 degrees. We will survive. Highlights of the trip: food, gelato, pastries, my boyfriend having to wrap his pretty little legs with a shawl we bought from a guy next to Milan Duomo, as they wouldn't let him. 10/10 would go again.
EDIT: I have forgot to mention that I also really enjoyed seeing La Scala and thought about @theatremonkey when I saw all the boxes!

On BWW "Kristin Chenoweth Announces Intimate Show at London Palladium this October". Surely the words "Intimate" and "London Palladium" are a contradiction in terms???

just got approved as a 'Dog Carer' which means she'll be dog-sitting some furballs Wait, wait. They have something where you can just borrow dogs when you have the time for them? This is news... interesting news... Yes yes! this is a nationwide company called Wagging Tails www.waggingtailsuk.co.ukThis is one for looking after them for say a weekend or a week. There's another one called 'Borrow My Doggy' which is more a 'take it for a walk to give the owners a day off' one. I've not used them but hear good things. Do it Monkey do it! We've got a Westie and a Lab booked in already! (despite Mum saying 'no big dogs' haha)

Well I've just found out that the wife of a former co-worker has just passed away from what can only be described as a world of cancer. I didn't really know her, but I always had a soft spot for him, and their little boy has just turned 3, so all in all it's a pretty horrible thing to happen to a lovely young family. :/

Sorry to hear that @baemax it always feels tough when you didn't really know the person but have a relationship with those affected as well, because it leads to awkward 'I can't say I miss them, but I want to offer my condolences etc' anyway it's a sad thing to witness happen to a family you care about.

Just met my new class for September. All was lovely - apart from the fact that I didn't get the email about wearing a giant bow in my hair!

Saw Dunkirk earlier tonight, introduced by Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas - I have to say I was impressed, I have a few reservations (the characters are a bit thinly written, i. e. Tom Hardy IS 'RAF guy', Mark Rylance IS 'bloke with a boat', Ken Branagh IS 'thoroughly decent Navy officer' and Hans Zimmers soundtrack was a bit too modern and atonal) and I'm not sure how much of an international market there will be for this, but recommended - make sure you see it on the biggest, loudest screen possible.

Marwood, I have to ask (and this'll probably be one for the spoiler tags): does Harry Styles's character die in Dunkirk?
