Just watching Mandy on BBC2 and in the episode she mistakes a sandwich maker in the kitchen for an Alexa. She starts speaking to it and says "Alexa play Madonna Like A Virgin". Suddenly my Alexa springs into action and starts playing said song!

The parcel i ordered from Next on Christmas Eve FINALLY turned up today! Even better, cos Hermes told Next it was missing, they refunded me and they said I can keep the clothes for free if they ever turn up as a good will gesture! Free clothes? Don’t mind if I do!!

So….lunch at the German Gymnasium followed by Close Encounters of the Third Kind at the Prince Charles Cinema and then Romesh Ranganathan at the Hammersmith Apollo: the next weekend can’t get here fast enough.

Just back from Aldi with another four boxes of mince pies, to add to the nine I've already got in the pantry. Well they are now 9p for half a dozen!
You should see how many tubes of Smarties I have...not to mention the Jelly Tots...and the Matchmakers...

I have a selection, lynette. The 18 all butter M&S ones were yesterday, the Aldi ones are 26 January, and the two 25p boxes from Sainsbury's have February dates. None will be getting frozen, I can assure you of that. 😉

Woke up this morning to the news that our heating was declining to work. Fortunately the heating company were able to send an engineer within a couple of hours who has patched it up, pending a new part which will have to be ordered & probably won't arrive until the new year. So we get to spend the next week or two praying that the heating keeps working. I have a horrible cold feeling that our heating may have gone again. An engineer is booked for Monday to come & fit the new part (couldn't come sooner due to covid, which seems to be the reason for everything at the moment) so why couldn't the damn thing have hung on for another 3 days?!

Fortunately the heating engineer came at 10am this morning & replaced the part so the heating is working again. Hopefully it won't break again for a while.

In time for the ‘flurry’ of snow expected in the south-east. Is it? When? Neither the Met Office nor the BBC currently have any snow forecast for Cambridge for the next week. Hope it won't be on Thursday, when my next London theatre trip is booked.

It looks a bit warmer tomorrow. I'm taking my car for its MOT and service in the morning and it means I won't need to spend ages scraping through the ice.

( wear a vest) Unfortunately Thursday looks like its going to be coldest day of the week & I've been avoiding the tube since covid. Not looking forward to walking from Kings Cross to the Colisseum & looking forward even less to walking back at after 10pm. And I can't wear a vest or I'll be too hot in the theatre & on the trains.

Went to the office today and the heating had broken, fortunately I was already wearing full thermal layers and then multiple clothes layers and coat etc. After soup for lunch I felt a bit hot and took off my hat for about 30 seconds before realising that was daft and putting it back on.

I don't know, our anita. If it's not you that's falling to bits, it's your appliances! Did he do it willingly, or was there grumpiness? 😉

It is apparently less stressful if you identify the time your train leaves as the time you need to be at the station rather than the time it arrives at it's destination.

Watching the Winter Olympics. This is one of those occasions when loads of people become fascinated by particular sports and think "This is great; I'll have to follow this sport in future", only to completely forget that the sport ever existed a week later.
(For me it's curling. I love watching curling. At four-year intervals.)

As usual with the Winter Olympics, I'm focusing on the ice skating. I do also try to watch the Europeans & Worlds so for me it's usually once a year rather than once every 4 years.

I also enjoy the ice skating. This afternoon one of the skaters danced to a medley of music from Jesus Christ Superstar.
