In the spirit of "surely things will be OK", I booked some Broadway tickets for December: Caroline or Change, Company, Fairycakes, The Lehman Trilogy, and Thoughts of a Colored Man.

Dropped virtually into a couple of the Odyssey at Jermyn street yesterday and was a wonderful way to wile away a sunday evening.

david, that is such a terrific dinosaur! (I have a bit of a thing for dinosaurs I guess, they immediately make me grin like I am 5 years old.) My last 48 hours have been such a mess: I was meant to travel home, but tested positive for the C-dread on the antigen/lateral flow test. I have no symptoms whatsoever. But I self-isolated, cancelled my leave, rebooked my plane ticket (which of course cost extra, given that it's the peak of the tourist season), rebooked my leave and took an NHS PCR test. The PCR test came out negative, as expected. I am now dreading taking that antigen test again in a little under two weeks when I am scheduled to give travelling another go. Also, that means a week and a half more of work before I *finally* get to go on leave *sigh* To make things better, I got the PwC preview tickets to see "Camp Siegfried" at the Old Vic with a friend once I'm back. Small joys and at least one success. (I was actually surprised to see how many tickets for both Circle levels remained unsold. I don't think I've ever seen that happen with the PwC tickets before.)

Forrest, what I forgot to get is some video of the dinosaur moving. There were several different ones scattered around Leeds. Though for me this was the best one I found. Sorry read about your situation. Hopefully you will get to finally go on leave soon. At least you've managed go get good tickets for the OV "Camp Siefried" production. I got one myself in October in the Q35 stalls seat that is a big favourite of several board members including myself for £15.

I'm having problems with my roof so I've been gathering quotes. I have three quotes and two are quite expensive but a third is cheaper, but so much cheaper that I wonder how good a job they could do for only half as much money. Decisions...

I hate that, wondering if the expensive ones are just ripping you off or the cheap one is too good to be true. Good luck.

Having a recommendation and seeing work means much more. I've seen recommendations and requests for recommendations for various services/builders on NextDoor.co.uk .

Careful people. More than one person I know has had builder/roofer mess them about saying this needs doing and so on.til the bill mounts up. And are you going to go on the roof to look for yourself? So get proper recs from someone you know.

As there is no thread for this I thought I would put my comments here. Yesterday I went to see Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary Concert at the RFH. I was 12 years old when the original LP came out and I still have my copy so it was a real treat to hear the music again live. I dont know why but I expected a younger audience and, on hindsight, it was a silly thing to think. Everyone there was of a similar age to me and my friend or older and it did seem strange to see people in their 60s and 70s attending what, in essence, is a pop concert. Anyway everyone seemed to have a great time with a couple of standing ovations. 9 piece band on stage and the show was in 2 halves with 3 shorter items of music in the first half including the song Moonlight Shadow which I didnt realise that Mike Oldfield had written. The 2nd half was Tubular Bells and this was performed with a group of acrobats. At first I thought it a bit odd and couldnt see it working but as the piece progressed it all clicked and they were truly stunning, really adding to the whole experience. All in all a lovely nostalgic afternoon which bought back so many memories of my teenage years.

Apologies if anyone was disturbed by screams emanating from Cambridgeshire at about 10.15pm last night. I was lying on my bed reading when my eye was caught by movement & I realised a rather large object of the arachnid persuasion was scuttling across the floor & under my bed. Furniture moving ensued.

Removed 4 at about 2 in the morning last night, had to leave the others which were more stationary but then turned into moth attack.

Everyone there was of a similar age to me and my friend or older and it did seem strange to see people in their 60s and 70s attending what, in essence, is a pop concert. Oh that sounds like such fun! (I'm a big sucker for music and get really sentimental over concerts and important albums and all that, so can totally imagine the joy. Well, not that I really have to stretch my imagination too far: some of the favourite records of of my youth are already 30-ish or 20-ish years old.) As for the quoted part: I live very close to the Islington Assembly Hall, which for some reason often hosts older-generation prog bands. I LOVE seeing groups of people in their 50s, 60s and over going there, in their Rush and Pink Floyd and Marillion T-shirts, living their best rock-life. A friend and I always joke that someday that will be the two of us, and I really hope that will turn out to be true! peggs and Dawnstar, not ignoring you, but... The topic gives me the creeps.

Removed 4 at about 2 in the morning last night, had to leave the others which were more stationary but then turned into moth attack. After we'd dealt with mine we then checked the rest of the house & found 1 more large one, lurking under the loo cistern, plus what must have been at least half a dozen small ones. It's early for them to be coming in. Usually the influx isn't until September.

I’ve spent the weekend painting my bedroom a lovely shade of lilac! Painting itself is easy but the moving all my stuff out, moving furniture, cleaning and masking up first is a massive massive hassle! I now have a lovely lilac shell I need to get all my stuff back into! And I have a ridiculous amount of stuff! This may take me the rest of the week….

I don't want to alarm @forrest but there must be a dozen in just my room let alone the rest of the house. Moving stuff is a big effort, impressed Roxie

Just looked up and one of the spiders is back and just hanging out on the ceiling directly above my bed. Now what are the odds on it suddenly deciding to drop off?

Urgh. Spiders are the WORST! I hate this time of year for them. I’m hoping the paint fumes keep them out of my bedroom for a bit! I’m a feminist and don’t tend to rely on men for anything I can roll my sleeves up and get on with most things but I’m afraid that when confronted with a spider I scream for my dad to catch it for me!! Once I was in on my own and there was a massive one in the bathroom and I really needed the loo so I got in my car and went to McDonalds to use theirs!!

That must have been one big spider to be able to move furniture!

Somebody once told me that they get rid of any bugs using a vacuum cleaner (by vacuuming them away, from a distance), and I've embraced that good advice and never looked back (although there are still bugs that I am terrified of approaching, so I prefer handing the vacuum cleaner to someone else if I can).

Found a newly hatched set of maybe 30 odd baby spiders in wardrobe this morning, I'm too soft to hoover them up. Pretty sure the ones I put out the window are now climbing back in.

I live with a goodly number of spiders year round. They don't do any harm, so I just let them get on with it. Big ones they are too...the size of a saucer! 🕷

Glad I'm not the only one that happily leaves spiders be, when I was little I used to love watching all the baby spiders just after they hatched from the egg sack above my bed, reminded me of Charlotte's Web. Funnily at work the other day there was a spider that I felt needed a better home than in the middle of our chaos so I wondered who would possibly have time to take a cute spider to a safer home, funnily the person I thought would have no problems with spiders doesn't like them at all, luckily someone nearby who had time kindly took it outside for me.

I only move the ones that keep trying to get into my bed with me, if they are happy to hang out in corners or skuttle under furniture I wish them luck. I occasionally manage to put a moth out but that's because I assume life will be better for them outside/don't want them to eye up my clothes.
Stopped off today to water my sister's veg patch while she is away, i'm not entirely sure why unless it's because the caterpillars like a shower, veg production is pretty low but caterpillar numbers are most encouraging.
