I don't know if the scammers who keep on making nuisance phone calls about Amazon Prime record the replies to their robotic calls but if they do then they've now got me on tape saying "Oh f*** off" before slamming the phone down! When you have a relative in hospital & are constantly on the alert for any phone calls with news then scam phone calls are even more annoying than usual. He he, I speak them also. I say it was me who ordered the goods and as they are of the exotic, sensitive kind they had promised they would be privately sensitive around the order and delivery

I don't know if the scammers who keep on making nuisance phone calls about Amazon Prime record the replies to their robotic calls but if they do then they've now got me on tape saying "Oh f*** off" I said exactly that to someone who called me to tell me the maintenance contract on my boiler was too expensive and they could get me a better deal. I don't have a maintenance contract on my boiler, and it was about the fifth or sixth call I'd received that week.

Theres a TONNE of scams going round at the minute, its vile. I keep getting calls from an automated message in Chinese! Hope your relative is ok. At least if they're in Chinese you (I'm guessing) don't understand what is being said. I don't know about other people but I find having to listen to conversations in languages I don't understand, for instance if someone is yelling away on their phone on a train, slightly less annoying than having to listen to conversaations in English.

I don’t understand any more than about 3 words of Chinese, but I still find it annoying. They always call when I’m at work aswell and then I cancel the call, they call right back. I’ve tried blocking the numbers but they spoof uk mobile numbers so it’s different numbers each time!

Yesterday... 200 mile round-trip drive, three great shows (Flight, Mousetrap, Cruise - comments on respective threads), four miles walked in the glorious London sunshine, an amazing Peruvian dinner at Floral by Lima and a friendly cabbie for the last hop back to my car who was also back in London for the first time since December.
Today... knackered, sun-burnt, aching legs, but happier in my soul than I've been for months.

After spending the morning doing manly things up a ladder, my reward was to spend the afternoon in the park, lying on the grass in my very stylish 3/4 length shorts.
It was so nice to finally get some sun on my pasty calves, especially the left one, which has just about healed after its savaging earlier this month. Thankfully, Alfie and his very sharp teeth were nowhere to be seen.

Beautiful day here in East London. We had our annual "jumble trail" in mine and surrounding streets. 120 stalls selling absolutely everything from bric-a-brac, plants, cakes, clothes, crafts and food. It's a brilliant idea as absolutely anyone can set up a stall in the front garden or pavement. My next door neighbour was participating and giving all the money to RNLI so I donated a load of stuff too. The atmosphere was amazing and literally hundreds and hundreds of people wandering up and down the streets. Even live music. A real community atmosphere. The area has become very gentrified in recent years which some don't like but, for me, it's made a rather ordinary area into a place where people want to live and be part of the community. Although a bit of an overkill with dourdough artisan bread and coffee shops. And everyone seems to work in media.

I don't know how big you think my windows are, BurlyBeaR. Those of us who don't live in a luxury loft apartment only have small ones. 😉 My manly things were being done outdoors. Whatever you do, don't try it! And they're Austrian blinds, not festoon. I only ordered them on your recommendation. I'm so pleased you could spare the time, now you're working as the interior design advisor on The Archers. On yesterday's omnibus there was five minutes on pigs, and 45 on decorating.

One of my neighbours is practicing the piano within earshot. They are currently playing We Wish You A Merry Christmas!

Well there's no point leaving it until the last minute, Dawnstar. Practice makes perfect, after all It's Movie Music Monday on Classic FM today, so the very first thing I heard this morning, a few minutes after 7 o'clock, was a piece of Christmas music. 🎅 It'll be here before we know it!

Tom Chambers played White Christmas on Magic at the Musicals the other day (he's doing a chronological history of musical theatre at the weekends) - I had to switch off!

Just watched Pixar’s Coco on iPlayer. My god that film gets me every time I see it. Spectacular visuals, beautiful music that makes you want to learn guitar and that killer sad but totally life affirming ending 😢😭. Fabulous.

When I was trying to log in to the board earlier this afternoon I kept getting this error message. I think we all know who must have been responsible!

Thank goodness I was doing more manly things this morning. I found Victoria Wood in my shed. Whistl hadn't even left a card, or owt!
I've spent this afternoon doing manly spraying at Mater's. At first I thought my equipment was faulty, but I hadn't tightened the end enough. 59 years of accumulating clutter and no glasses for a manly cold drink!
Tonight, I'm going to have a manly bonfire. Well it is the perfect weather for it, just as everyone flings open their windows for the first time in weeks. The sound of uPVC being slammed shut will be as loud as the bird song!

Anyone watching Inside Number 9 series 6? I thought we'd had a thread but searched doesn't want to find it. Just watched the first episode, I suspect I missed some of the jokes but still as good as ever.

I went to the Hockney iPad art exhibition at the Royal Academy. Recommended if you like his work in general. Joyously empty rooms but the venue a bit bleak overall. Nice little coffee stall in the courtyard but hardly any seats. I wonder why they can’t have more seats, spread out of course?

Bathspider!
Big one. Wouldn't go in the cup. Clung to the outside with an expression that said "I can scuttle like the wind and I know you know it".

First time as a paying punter in a theatre since December 2019 today, seeing Flight at The Bridge.
Been in theatres a lot for work since then of course (short run abroad, London opening cut short by lockdown one, streaming gig, brief bit of live theatre between lockdown 2 and 3, another stream, and then working live again from this unlocking) but it was great to be back, even with the atypical piece. First traditionally staged theatre piece will be Under Milk Wood which I think will be a good place to start back fully.

Grass snake suddenly popping out of the pond upon hearing me didn't half make me jump!
Crept back and forth over the next few hours looking intently usually in the wrong place and being startled all over again. It was at a guess taking the opportunity to cool off and do a bit of fish hunting.

My endoscopy finally came through it’s tomorrow! So had a COVID test last night and having to self isolate today so cleaned the house top to bottom, cleaned my car and did a workout! I’m now currently eating chocolate mousse and stressing about tomorrow! It’s cos I have constant heartburn which is probably down to meds but the anxious monkey part of my brain keeps telling me it’s summat serious! Also I’ve had one before so I know what to expect now and it’s not pleasant! Eeeek wish me luck!

Hope you've had it by now Roxie and your fears have been laid to rest. Thanks! I’m ok ta. It was a bit rough cos though I opted for sedation, I don’t think I had quite enough cos the doc was concerned my BP was low (it’s normal for me to be 90s/50s) so I was too aware and kept gagging. I’m fine now though! Bit of a sore throat n bit woozy but that’s normal. And the best news was I don’t have anything seriously wrong! No tumours, just reflux that can be controlled with meds. Also every single member of staff I spoke to was LOVELY! The NHS as an institution can be frustrating and definitely isn’t fit for purpose at the moment as its not being run properly, but the frontline workers are absolute angels and do a fantastic job. Hats off to all of them!

Yeah that no fun is it, I know from experience but great news that nothing sinister was found and you can stop worrying.
