Je suis annoyed. The French tour of Priscilla has been cancelled which includes the performance in Nice I had booked. Since flight and hotel are paid for, I can't cancel the trip anymore, although I suppose there are worse places than the Côte d'Azur to spend a few days in. I am also a little bit proud that I managed to handle the to and fro about the refunds with Ticketmaster France in French. Sad though that apparently it wasn't selling.

They say it's lovely when a young lady's in Vienna but it's nicer, much nicer in Nice in Amsterdam or Brussels the men have great big muscles but they're nicer, much nicer in Nice I've heard that the italians are very fond of dalliance and they're also keen on it in Greece But whatever they may say this is where I want to stay For it's so much nicer in Nice . . . .

Colleague working remotely needed me to give his computer a nudge. Walked to his desk, sat in his chair, fell off it in the most dramatic fashion - the cup of red thai chicken soup in my hand flew upwards, and then cascaded around me, on me, on the floor, on the guy sitting next to me, on his desk. It's on my face, in my hair. I'm wearing a top with a cowl neck and have found soup within it. I smell of soup (as does the guy that was sitting next to me).

Oh no! I mean, if I had to spend an afternoon smelling of soup, then red Thai chicken would probably be one of my top three choices, but not if I had to be covered in it. Hope you can get yourself suitably cleaned up!

It opened on 30 May 1966 at the Golders Green Hippodrome and transferred soon after to the Globe Theatre. There's a Girl in My Soup ran for six and half years until 1973 to become the longest-running comedy in the history of the West End. The play ran at the Globe Theatre for three and a half years, from March 1966 until 6 August 1969, when it transferred to the Comedy Theatre, opening there on 18 August 1969 and closing in 1973 after 2,547 performances. (Thanks Wiki!)
This is one of those shows that I can always remember being advertised at the end of TV sit-coms when I was small!

Oh fitzy, I know I shouldn't laugh but . . . You should check the CCTV. If it's been caught on camera you could send it into 'You've Been Framed' and win some money!

Sorry to hear that viserys, annoying for you. Interesting that Priscilla was touring France, not something I’d have imagined . Was it an exclusively French tour or one from elsewhere? I don’t think I’ve heard of musicals touring France . I know several have played in Paris .

I don’t think I’ve heard of musicals touring France . I know several have played in Paris . It was a French tour (with songs in English). They usually open in Paris for 2-3 months, then head out on tour. Though that's mostly the unique French spectacles conceived in the country like Notre Dame de Paris. I think they were a bit optimistic, thinking that a show like Priscilla could fill the huge tour venues. I catch most of the French spectacles when they come on tour to Brussels (which is just two hours' drive for me). Priscilla wasn't doing Brussels for some reason though, so we looked at the tour plan to pick an interesting destination that would make for a good short holiday and settled for Nice. But apparently it's not selling well outside the metropolis - so they axed the tour and return to Paris for a short second run instead.

Thanks for the information viserys, that’s interesting. What other shows have gone out on tour? Whenever I’m away from the UK im always interested to see what’s playing in other countries.

Oof, I don't have my programmes here, so I need to rely on my brain. Down the years I've seen: Les Dix Commandements, Romeo & Juliette (both in Paris), then on tour in Brussels... Notre Dame de Paris, Le Roi Soleil, Autant en emporte le vent, 1789 - Les Amants de la Bastille, Cleopatre, Mozart, Robin des Bois, Le Roi Arthur, most recently Les Trois Mousquetaires... plus last year I was in Paris again to see the revival of Notre Dame de Paris "at home" and two new shows, the excellent Le Rouge et le Noir and the so-so Timéo. I have high hopes that the Starmania Revival will actually happen in 2018, I'd be back in Paris in a flash for that. I don't bother with French-language productions of "international" shows like their Lion King, Cats, Grease and so on, since I can see them everywhere really, I much prefer the unique spectacles. Priscilla would have been an exception, because a) I love the show itself and would have enjoyed seeing it again b) I would have loved to see French guys play these parts.

Today is the day when I fly to the motherland for a weekend. I'm excited. It's the independence day tomorrow, but it coincides with St. Martin's day. In my city, there is a St Martin Street. Each year on the 11th November there is a parade in which St Martin rides on a horse and is being given keys to the city. And then we eat apparently the only legally protected croissants in Europe: monkeysandmountains.com/st-martin-croissant-rogale-marcinskieThey are, oh, so good.

My food gift to you.
M&S mini mince pies. Just that. No fancy "made with the finest hand churned butter from Austrian bred 2-headed cattle" rubbish on the box. Just mini mince pies. Mmmmm. I was getting fed up with cloying fillings in recent years and these are just the perfect size and aren't too sweet. They come in packs of 9, gold box, near the till.

I had dinner at a pub this afternoon. Several people walked in and one of them was carrying a large balloon in the shape of a zero, which made me imagine they'd either come straight from a birth or they were having a "you're nothing" party for someone. Although it was inevitable it was still rather disappointing when an accompanying five turned up ten minutes later.
