It will be interesting to see if any of these plays stand the test of time. Future theatregoers might be incredibly puzzled that these people were performed so much. I have a feeling that the work of writers like Pinter, Ibsen, Ayckbourn, Chekhov and Beckett will resonate through time. I can imagine Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good and Sarah Kane’s work surviving too. Shame that so few women have been developed to have a body of work. Of course I don’t have a clue but it’s interesting to speculate.

Did they "need" to fly to Egypt? How do we know Godwin didn't decide to take himself there under his own steam with his own cash? He might have. Of course we might also be in de-nile. I'll get my coat. Personally I think it was a Pharoah way to travel for a bit of research. Do you think he took his Mummy with him?

I think an A & C that reflects contemporary Egypt and its relations to Europe could be interesting. As a play that routinely has me clockwatching by the end, anything that livens it up would be most welcome.

He says in that interview the production will be modern dress but not with the Muslim/Western issue - he’s a flashy director, surprised he didn’t go for it. Agree on the play, it is fine up to the point Antony dies but the following 30-40 minutes are an unwelcome coda.

A long time ago at Chichester I saw Diana Rigg as Cleo and solid oak Dennis Quilley as Ant - lack of chemistry plumbed new depths in that one.

I'm excited to see War Horse again, but was really hoping it could go back into the Olivier. As it's going into the Lyttleton I hope it doesn't lose anything in it's staging.

Yes I was thinking of perhaps taking nieces to that but would be quite different flat on and without revolve and everything, guess it's the touring production though so it'll be used to a more prom arch theatre and be adapted to that so easily to slot in there? More bothered about likelihood of getting any cheap tickets, I'm not THAT generous an aunt. oh and potentially traumatizing them I suppose?

I don't know how old your nieces are peggs but taking them to War Horse strikes me as one of the best things an aunt could do. It is over a decade since I took my eldest son to see it (he is now 20!). We won tickets to the original National production via a competition in our local newspaper (the prize also included a backstage tour and a signed copy of the book) and it was a totally memorable night. I wouldn't worry about the trauma aspect. Kids are fed such a diet of Michael Morpurgo with all its glorious emotion - I remember we once had to pull off the road while listening to his Adolphus Tips on audio book so overwhelming was the weeping. And teachers at my kids' primary told me they could never get through Kensuke's Kingdom without tears. Good luck with getting cheap tickets. At least there are half price tickets for the under 18s.

Thanks jek, I'm eager to give them a theatre experience that might sew a seed so they don't have to wait to be an adult to find out how transformative theatre can be like I did. The most practical part of me recognises that the challenge I'd be most likely battling is a last minute invite to go to play at a friends house which sounds way more exciting!

A&C is out for me. Its break starts 5 days before I get to London and ends 2 days after I leave. I will get to see War Horse which I'm excited about. I've never seen it before. I'm on the fence about Stories.

A quick tip-off, for those who haven't noticed - the NT has quietly put tickets for the final few shows of both The Lehman Trilogy and Exit the King up for public sale on the website (ie, I think anyone can buy them right now). So if there's anyone out there who hasn't booked yet, or has had to make do with not-so-good seats, there are stacks of £15 front stalls tickets for both shows on sale right now. From my initial look, it only seems to be those two shows...

Thanks for this - I'd looked at the end of last week but they weren't on sale then - one less thing to think about on Thursday! Not everything on sale as Peter Brook and David Hare both have platforms scheduled but not on sale, but I've got most of what I wanted this time round, including the Quiz! I had not realised (despite being a Member for many years) that I got a 50% discount on platforms - it was only after booking the Theatre Quiz I decided to click on Concessions for the other events. All those £3.50s I could have saved...

Didn't manage to get any £15ers as I was restricted on choice of dates. I do find the way you have to click one extra time in order to choose your own tickets annoying; how odd that the default position should be 'we'll choose them for you'. I am also irritated that they should see fit to add a donation to your bill which you then have to delete if you don't feel like giving them an extra £20 or whatever. But I'm pleased to have good if pricey seats for Ant and Cleo, the new Hare and the Lehman Trilogy.

Yes it was painful this morning. The site was sooooo slow to keep refreshing. No £15 front row seats left for whole run of A&C (more to come maybe). Still handfuls of £15 back of circle ones and lots of other price bands. I'm Not Running cheap tickets selling well too.

No stalls £15 tickets for A&C for the night I wanted, paid full price in the end, fortunately managed to counterbalance with cheap tickets for the other Productions I booked.
Also found the site was extremely slow, which was frustrating as I trawled a few other dates for cheap A&C tickets.

Mentally drafting my complaint after nearly 2 hours in the queue for a single ticket for a single play. High time they limited release to 2/3 productions only or 1 venue at a time. And no tix left for my price/date anyway, after all that.

Have to say that booking this morning was the easiest experience I’ve had at the NT in a while. Was able to get the tickets for all the shows I wanted. I even managed to get cheap tickets for the Dorfman shows and for me that never happens. I was surprised I even managed to bag an £18 row B stalls seat for A&C. Logged into the site when it first opened and to my surprise I was in the 100s in the queue rather than the 1000s which is my normal experience. From start to finish a 20min process. Thank you NT for a pain free process.
