Thanks Baemax was wondering too, though they don't seem to have been an cheap seats for any of the amex bookings since I've had a card.

Yeah, I've found the Amex more beneficial for the free tours and bookshop discount than ticket booking, but it's been useful on occasions where I haven't minded how much I've spent, like Angels. I'll be using Amex to book John, but I'll throw my hat in with the public for the rest, fingers crossed!

Yes it now makes me think that really I can justify buying another play text! Tours were all alarmingly early when I last looked. Will join you in the public melee I expect.

Much obliged @baemax likewise I find it more useful for discounts and 'TAKE ALL MY MONEY' shows (not least because it's a credit card to put those on!) But I needed to stalk Anne Marie Duff, I mean that important Shakespeare play, tickets this time...

I got my decent seat for John, but I'm now thinking I might even wait for the extension period for Macbeth (just, SUCH a lot of people are doing it next year, I'd like to spread it out if I'm to see more than one). It's Tuesday for the public booking, right? I'd like to have a go at Absolute Hell at least.

I gotta hand it to them - despite landing as 2100 in the queue, i moved through in 29 minutes, and had tickets for Macbeth and Absolute Hell bought and paid for in less than 5 minutes. It really is the smoothest box office system that I've ever used.

I was exactly the same - waited in the queue for half an hour, but then managed to get the exact seats I wanted for the exact dates I wanted for both Macbeth and Absolute Hell. No luck with John though - despite all dates showing availability on the list view, on the actual seat booking page they all showed as 'unavailable'. Not sure if they all sold out or there's some kind of error.
Edit: All dates for John showing as sold out now on the list view, must've just been my browser not updating properly.

Public booking went quite well this morning. I was initially dismayed by how far back in the queue I was (though at least this time I got through the queue quicker in Chrome than Internet Explorer, it's usually the other way round), and when I got to the list of dates for Absolute Hell and filtered it to shows with tickets in the £0-£20 range, there was only one date showing. However I unfiltered the list, opened the three dates I'd been looking at, and all three of them had £15/£18 front row stalls available! So my top tip for general life is to not believe the filter and always check the individual dates where possible, you may have a pleasant surprise. Which is nice, I'd briefly resigned myself to having to stalk the website for returns next spring, this will save a lot of effort. |

I was already giving up seeing the high prices available but then I checked a few dates and there were tickets for £15 for "Absolute hell" and "John". I have only left "Nine night" for Friday Rush because there are no cheap tickets. |

Booked up for Macbeth,John,Absolute Hell & The Great Wave. Booking by phone was quite easy, took a grand total of twenty five mins to book four tickets

Took me about half hour in queue then seemed like they'd kept same blocks of cheap seats for Macbeth for stalks as checked all dates and just kept finding end of row c. Sure worked well enough.

Even the Amex allocation has gone. If you were hoping to hit the first booking period, you're stuck waiting for Friday rush, returns, and the late release of house seats now. Wonder if RuNo's regretting only charging Travelex prices?  |
