Well this is just fabulous. Dirty looks from the woman in front when me and @ryan give Elaine entrance applause everytime she enters, but screw her haha.
Side note, got hit with the fact its Elaine Paige, cried when she said As If We Never Said Goodbye.

My kid (not Tracey) said the same about his lips on Thursday night. Graduates of the Pauline Quirke Academy, perhaps?
First meeting - I think the Charlie line thing is scripted. Was the same on Thursday. Think the ET memory lapse may have been genuine though.

Likewise on Wednesday one of the kids said that Zerdin's lips were moving, so I suspect it is staged, though not sure how exactly. Also the Charlie/Julian thing happened then so must be scripted.

Yeh a kid tonight said the same thing. Seems a little coincidental! Loved it. They really have upped the smut this year!

Actually, that tweet isn't that fair. I was there this afternoon, and before the second half, an usher walked the aisle with a rubbish bag, and everybody put their litter into it. Regarding the show itself, I thought it was a total smash. Opinion on my site now. Zerdin got his comeuppance when one kid invited onto the stage told him that he could see his lips move. For those who have seen it, I think a couple of things were genuine, but to check: in their first meeting, did Charlie forget his line and have to be prompted by Julian. Also, did Elaine forget her rhyme about a bus in the first meeting with Julian, with Julian refusing to prompt her, causing Elaine to visit the prompt corner and come back on?" The toilet roll hurled into the audience was fake, I've seen that done in the routine before. . Also, huge kudos to the cast for stopping the show for a few moments to comfort a child frightened by a loud explosion - even handing down loo roll to help out. Kid commenting about Zerdin happened tonight too. Same with Charlie and Julian, as well as the toilet roll. But Elaine's bit didn't happen tonight, so I think that was a genuine mistake.

OK now that I am sober, my thoughts on the show. I thought it was fabulous, equalled last year in most ways. The sets were fabulous, the costumes beautiful. The special effects were also fabulous, especially the opening and the end of Act One (not as spectacular as last year, but still great) and the ship in Act 2). The cast were all around fantastic. Julian can get away with murder and he owns it. He was amazing. Gary Wilmott was great too, though I wanted more from his costumes. Paul and Sam were great, with a bit from last year repeated, but still hilarious. Diversity were good, broke the show a bit in Act 1, but their Act 2 worked better. Nigel was fabulous, stealing the show with his little moments. The Cat was fine, thankless role. Really I went for Charlie and Emma. Emma didn't get much to do, but she worked a horrible dress, sang beautifully, was funny and wprked her usual charm. Loved her as always. Charlie was fab, dancing his ass off, singing like a dream and working his natural charm. He knows how to pull an audience in and I was so here for it! You could tell fans of his were in, several, including myself, went crazy when the joke was made about Hello Dolly! And he pulled off those leggings very, very well! Now. Elaine. Elaine f***ing Paige! She was everything! She was so fabulous, she was hilarious, workef that tail for Jesus, and her singing those iconic songs had the audience in awe. Especially when she sang her number from Sunset Boulevard, and hit that big note, she really earned that midsong applause. She was juzt amazing, I genuinely got emotional on her first number as I was seeing her live for the first time. She didn't dissapoint, she was terrific! Is it dirty and smutty, yes. Did I care, nope. I had so much fun, and there was barelg any kids in the Stalls at least, and I hate children anyway, so I don't care how dirty it is. Just fabulous, go!

I thought Elaine was great but I think she was miscast. She wasn't a very good baddie. Paul was a brilliant baddie last year so maybe we were just spoilt. Also enough of Paul Zerdin now. Repeating material in different venues is fine but repeating material in the same venue is not so fine. For me his scenes were boring purely because I knew what was coming as it was the same as last year.

Everytime she was on stage I was LIVING! She was just so fabulous and sassy, and surprisingly managed to sing those songs well considering her age, especially her first one, I was like yassss you do that Elaine, work it sister!

I wondered how Elaine’s “baddie” would be, she's a great singer but no actress, but I guess this isn’t Shakespeare, so acting might be desirable but not essential to the job description. I’m told that a well known actor turned down the role of King Rat because he’s not keen on Julian Clary’s act.

Norman Lamont an actor? Since when?
Well I suppose he has to be a bit careful with his drainpipe when Julian’s around...

I just do not get the hysterically funny. Its certainly not a laugh out loud panto. Though a few of you will say it was, it is not. And if you saw it last year, you saw it this year with different costumes. As in Cinderella, Dick Whittington is just an excuse. Might as well call it the Julian in more and more outrgeous costume show. Julian is Julian and been saying those very jokes for years, nothing new. Paul has his routine and he does the entire of it. It seems more like a variety show than a panto. And in my opinion (obviouly not shared by many here) it should be geared a bit more towards children. If you wnt to see Julian or Paul's act go see them at their gigs. I really hope they do not do the same casting next year. But I do know they cannot possibly cast John Barrowman he will not share the stage with anyone but the Krankes.

Bumped into Mr Clary tonight between shows around the back of the theatre. He went in through the back door tonight, as only he can.
Looking forward to ushering it on Tuesday and Thursday and seeing it!

Well I saw it last week and screamed laughing along with my entire group who went and the surrounding audience. If you did not laugh out loud at the same show I saw you must be a real barrel of laughs to have as a friend! We thought it was the funniest panto we have all ever seen (old jokes or routines included). Stick to Chekhov. That’s hilarious...

What kind of idiot are you musicalmarge? A personal attack because I did not find it funny. As I said its my opinion. If you were screaming with laughter more power to you. You love smut. But afer a while it gets boring. And this forum shares opinions, not all will be yours, but you must have no class to lash out like that. To castigate me for an opinion. Oh wait, do you know what the word means?
