I really want to see this show but what were they thinking when they cast Frances Ruffelle?? Queenie is supposed to be in her twenties and Ruffelle is in her fifties.

La Chiusa's Wild Party is an out and out masterpiece. I'm sorry, Lippa fans, but his version does not compare. And, yes, Queenie should be in her 30s but Ruffelle doesn't look her age. Who does, these days?

She's closer in age to Dolores than Queenie! Although I'm sure Frances will be superb.
Saw this on Broadway with Toni Colette, Mandy Patinkin and Eartha Kitt - my first Broadway show. Can't wait to hear the rest of the cast.
Kitt stole it. I remember it being very raunchy with nudity and copious drug fuelled sex! Should make for interesting viewing in such an intimate space?

Yes, Toni Colette took her top off but I've seen other productions where Queenie stayed dressed. The character Sally loses her top (scripted) in that haunting moment she has after the orgy - that's probably it for the nudity.

I saw a production that featured a black Queenie - Valerie Pettiford, who looked not unlike Vanessa Williams. She wore the blonde wig and pale makeup throughout but at the end she pulled off the wig and began rubbing off the makeup and suddenly the show took on a whole new dimension. It was an absolutely stunning moment.

£5 ticket booked, looking forward to this one Me too, how could i not Sat in those seats for other shows there, discounting the possibility that they build a six foot wall on stage in front of them they should be a great bargain. Can't wait to see the show. |
