People deal with grief in different ways too. Some like to keep it private, others are happy to do it in public. There's no right or wrong way really. For once I agree with you on this - I don't think anyone should criticise her display of emotion last night as we can't know what she's going through, and she may just be an emotional person. I know I'd probably be blubbing in that situation! We can though can’t we. Unless we have never lost a parent or other close family member. Most people have to get on with work and life and all the rest of it. As I said, im not unsympathetic and I’m letting last night pass. It was her first 10 etc. But her mum’s death has been alluded to every week so far in one way or another. In my opinion it’s time to stop now.

In my opinion it’s time to stop now. I don't think we can entirely - people react in different ways, and some people can be emotional about a loss months, years or even decades after it happens, particularly if triggered by a specific memory or date, or being in a situation that person would have loved. I'm not trying to say you're unsympathetic, so apologies if it came across that way, but I do think you're being a little harsh on her - grief isn't something that you can necessarily just get over and get on with life without there being any difference or having wobbly moments. Hers was just very public last night. For many people it simply isn't something you can just decree has to stop abruptly, as emotional states can't be switched on and off that easily. If it were that easy then grief wouldn't be so difficult, but it is. And besides, it hasn't been Alexandra who has constantly been mentioning her mother every week - the presenters keep bringing her loss up, not always her!

Hence my comment about the producers. I’m aware of how these things work, or rather are “worked”!

Come on guys. Grief takes you at moments like this. And such a thing you would want your mum to see. I didn’t expect to cry twice in Strictly. I usually reserve dampness for the final. But I also was touched by their having the surgeon who operated on Jonny. Nice. I also liked the stricter marking. I also thought Brian was poor...who am I? Loved Susan's proper quickstep and Charlotte got the leftover dress, dark, dark, just doesn’t come over on tv and the little girls who vote don’t like..I especially like the technical points from Shirley, some of which I don’t understand but I do feel I’m learning more from her than I did from Len.

But I also was touched by their having the surgeon who operated on Jonny. I agree, that was a lovely moment. One of the things I love about Jonnie is that he in no way attempts to go for any kind of sympathy vote though and in this kind of show that will always be the danger and/or the easy option. And I love that Oti continues to keep pushing him as well. I also love how Susan could have easily gone the comedy dancer route and while she keeps an element of that (Wonder Woman), her quickstep last night showed just how genuinely talented she is, how she is improving and how seriously she does take it. It also helps that she has just the warmest personality which really shines through. I think she's a an absolute delight to watch.

It is always difficult to compare those with no experience like Jonny and Susan with those performers like Alexandra, Aston and Molly who have some dancing experience. You would never guess Jonny has any disability. He is amazing in that respect. I am warming to Susan too. Debbie seems to be being undermarked although who am I to say that as I do not have any dance experience.

Sorry theatreian, I'm so over Alexzzzzzzandra and no amount of Tina Turner impressions will change that. Tina has got more talent and charisma in one of her old wigs than Alexzzzzzzzandra will ever have. Note to other celebrities for next year though, make sure you work with Craig first, you'll reap the rewards in his "judging" later. Ryan I'm one of your biggest fans so this comes from a place of respect for you, but in this instance I have to agree with posterJ and this constant adding z's to Alexandra's name became boring a very, very long time ago and I'm not sure it was ever funny. It just completely ruins any valid points you're trying to make and in all honesty, it's slightly ruining this thread altogether, one which I hugely enjoy reading and contributing to. Not telling you in any way that you should stop or how you should post, but seeing as you're a man with a very sharp wit and keen eye for comedy, this certain 'bit' is just a little embarrassing now so I'm just speaking my thoughts out loud (I'll be writing to Points of View, next!)...you can't please all of the people all of the time, eh!

The right person left. Beyond a doubt.
Loved the pros' group dance at the beginning. Loved Gregory Porter. Loving Aston and Brian's bromance and the suggestion of calling the baby Brian (no, please!) or Briana.

I was shocked about one person in the dance off not the other though. The also rans are getting voted off slowly, it will be interesting when it gets down to about the last 10 to see who starts to go then.
Someone like Susan who the public may well get behind and is a much better dancer than I thought she might be could well last longer than some technically better dancers especially as Kevin always seems a popular Pro.
I'm not going to comment on Ryan aka Ron Mael from SPARKS's not being an Alex fan as our views are opposing and I don't think either will change.

Those of us who have lost our mums (maybe fairly recently) will understand... we have recently redecorated our home, and I feel (almost) gulilty that my mum can’t see it, because I know she would have liked (loved?) it... so I understand how Alexandra feels. Yes, I too found myself crying during Strictly this week. Unusually early in the season. Jonnie’s surgeon, Susan’s efforts reminding me of family Christmases past, and Debbie giving it all when Paul’s not here to be proud of her... (not that I ever really liked him, but she obviously did, very much...) Wise of Brian to wear the Hallowe’en garb early. Charlotte had to go this week. Yes, the Stricter marking is good. Shirley, it’s never too early for us to like you...!

Nah. I usually chuck the odd vote Kevin's way, regardless of who he's with. This year I fast forward.

Shame on you, Miss Tibbs! Have you not seen The Ferryman? He was in it... but gone now. Outstanding actor! Also in Dunkirk. Tom Glynn-Carney.
How DO you do that tagging thing? Have read the instructions on FAQ and failed... several times!

Oh he's in The Last Post! No, not seen Ferryman @caiaphas . Well @caiaphas , what you do @caiaphas is this: Hover your mouse over the person's name you want to tag (by their avatar.) This is to check that their username is the same as their avatar name as, for reasons I don't get, it isn't always. Their username spelling will come up in teeny letters. (Example of this is BurlyBeaR. You have to type @ followed by admin to tag him.) Then @caiaphas , what you do is simply type @ immediately followed by the name you want to tag and voila @caiaphas ! (In actual fact, when you hover over someone's blue username it actually shows exactly how you should type it, with the @ in front.) Edit: *drums fingers* Oi @caiaphas ! I is waiting for a tag here........ @caiaphas !!

You're kidding, right @caiaphas ? Type @ followed by tibidabo and that's me tagged. NB. It doesn't work if you're using an Imperial typewriter @caiaphas.

How DO you do that tagging thing? Have read the instructions on FAQ and failed... several times! Just type the @ followed immediately (no spaces) by the members name. If it doesn’t work it could be that the person has changed their display name. You have to tag them with their user name, if they’re using a different display name and you use that then it won’t work. For example im not @ plus BurlyBear, I’m @ plus admin.

Oh he's in The Last Post! No, not seen Ferryman @caiaphas . Yes, that’s him! We’ll be seeing a lot of him now, I reckon, Tibidabo . The Ferryman is worth seeing. Keep meaning to write a review... Going for a second visit in a couple of weeks. (Most unlike me!) (Bloody Hell! This tagging lark... By Jove, I think I’ve got it! )

(Bloody Hell! This tagging lark... By Jove, I think I’ve got it! Well, congratulations! Now would you like me to take you through multi-quoting?😱😈 Look, miss, it took me long enough to learn tagging... Can't I just sit at the back for a bit and coast for the next couple of weeks? This reminds me of when I was at school, must have been in the second or third year, and we used to have one lesson of French a week in the Language Lab. This involved taking it in turns with the girls to sit in booths at the back of the classroom, supposedly listening through headphones to real French people say things in proper accents and everything, and the idea was you had to repeat it back. All the time you were being taped so the teacher at the front could listen in at any moment and say "Tres bien" or "Merde" or whatever... I say 'supposedly listening to real French people' because of course it was really a chance to arse about, pressing all the buttons at once and seeing if you could talk to your mates three booths down. When the teacher (female) had really had enough, she would suddenly shout through all the headsets at once and say, "Will the boys at the back stop playing with their knobs!" You wouldn't get away with that now, would you, miss? Anyway, I'll get back to coasting, and we'll let the rest of the forum get back to Strictly. Debbie seems to be undermarked a bit, I think.
