I thought Alexandra was amazing. It seemed to me like a final performance last night. She's just like a robot though. I find her fake, completely unlikeable and she's got all the personality of a wet rubber glove. Mind you, having no personality didn't do Danny Mac or Louise Redknapp any harm last season I suppose.

Debbie McGee absolutely deserves to be top of the leader board at the moment. Her and Jonnie were the highlights of the show last night for me. And really, I think I could watch Davood dance any dance he likes so long as the costume is tight.

I have seen her in concert and she came across very well. Whenever I have seen her being interviewed she seems really nice.

How could I have left the wonderful Jonnie out of my comments? gorgeous in every sense (hurrah for letting the hair free at last!) but also a talented guy who will hopefully go far- love that he's dancing on a blade now (he was on The Last Leg and mentioned he kept getting shouted at for not pointing his toe and kept saying 'I can't!!')
And Ryan nails what I don't like about Alexandra- it's all very robotic, by the numbers, and a bit sterile? even in interviews etc it feels a bit forced and fake. I don't actively dislike the woman, but neither am I warming to her.

I read an interview with Jonnie where he said he was going to have to switch to a blade as it had a bit more bounce and that his usual leg was causing him too many problems for the show.

Jonnie is amazing, and lovely to look at too! You would never know he had any disability .

Makes sense- I'd imagine his 'regular' leg would have been quite painful to train on- at least with a blade it's designed for athletic work and can help him take the strain.

I saw him interviewed and he explained that you get bounce from your calf muscle and that, without one, the jive was impossible. The blade gave him the bounce he needed on the right leg.

I don't actively dislike the woman, but neither am I warming to her. I agree with ryan and emicardiff about Alexandra Burke and I felt exactly the same thing about her performance in 'Sister Act'. It was very accomplished but I didn't warm to her.

Oh dear... Not really happy with that result. There were far, far worse celebs. Both couples in the dance-off were hindered by appalling, ill-fitting costumes in the same colours. The wigs and costumes seem a bit all all over the place. Emeli Sande’s headgear reminded me of the woman in Tom and Jerry.

Emeli Sande’s headgear reminded me of the woman in Tom and Jerry. Thank you thank you thank you.......it's been driving me mad! Both dance offs were cr@p in my opinion but neither should really have been there. Still. I won't miss Pasha. Pro group dance was brilliant. I loved it!

Alexandra has always seemed a very humble woman a couple of times I've met her with her faith being important to her. I'd not say she's clean cut as she will put that amazing body on show on many occasions. As a fan I may be biased but she may be relying on her faith a lot to get through this difficult period after her mum passed away.
Great comment Tibidabo about Emeli's headgear as Chizzy's legs reminded me of the same thing.(Mental note - never mention this character to Cynthia Erivo as potential role)
Still not sure about Shirley the new judge - maybe it's her voice a bit too much Sharon Osbourne like which slightly irritates me or it might be that she's just not good old Len.
Jonnie on his blade was interesting, it gave him more bounce but I wondered if judges may find it harder to judge from a footwork point of view if he uses it a lot. But fairplay to him for a great dance.
Also Nadiya is a great addition to female pro ranks for many reasons.

The first elimination is already being seen as proof that the show is racist...

Great comment Tibidabo about Emeli's headgear as Chizzy's legs reminded me of the same thing. Thank you - but much as I would like to have thought of it, that comment must be attributed to @caiaphas, who I was quoting. Great spot on the Tom and Jerry legs though! And whilst we're on cartoons, all Ruth needed was a pair of glasses and she could have been Velma......ScoobydoobydooooOOOOOOOO!

And the current champion is black But it is the second year running where the first person to be eliminated is black - so some people are seeing a pattern (where none exists) I don't agree with last night's elimination - Charlotte should have gone - but the weakest dancer rarely goes in week 1.

What happened there? I don't think the audience is agin black competitors. The comments above would seem to say that the audience likes good dancers. But even if Chizzy was weak she was better than Brian. She had timing and musicality and some nice moves. He was woefully off the beat and at times his feet were doing nothing. He also seemed to lose his mojo, he was lacklustre. So to repeat, what happened there? Charlotte was v poor but long legs and a glitzy dress usually survive. I often think that the dresses have an effect on the voting. I see on twitter that I am not alone in my disappointment with this the first elimination.

Chizzy was on first which can't have helped.
Echo the thoughts on Alexandra who I have disliked since her days on The X Factor.
Much prefer Shirley to Len thus far.

Nooo! Gorgeous Gorka..... I feel so sorry for Gorka. First he left way too early last season, then he lost his teeth and now he's been saddled with a real Burke. He's clearly upset someone on the production team. That's quite a nasty and unnecessary comment, Ryan. Gorka's upset someone on the production team by being paired with one of the best performers on the show? They seem to be getting on like a house on fire so I don't think he needs your sympathy. As for her personality, I've met her twice before and after shows when she was dressed down and she was throughly charming, sweet and funny. She's a very excitable and bubbly person for sure, and wears her heart on her sleeve but for me she's one of the most engaging and entertaining performers on the show. She's obviously a bit fragile at the moment as her mother passed away hardly a month ago so maybe cutting her some slack would be good.

I think the delayed start time of the actual in-hold dancing counted against her, Shirley mentioned Brian having more "dance content" in her reason for saving him. She only alluded to it last night when critiquing Davood but Joe & Chizzy's routines were also guilty of having too much "fannying about" (as Len would have put it) at the start and the new head judge is obviously from the same school of thought on this. However, I wasn't entirely convinced all of Brian's content was actually Cha Cha. Definitely the wrong choice imo.

Chizzy was robbed. Brian couldn't have looked less interested in the dance-off. He wasn't even going through the motions.

Chizzy's routine when I saw it on Saturday night immediately reminded me of Len's "fannying around" quote. I don't know if it is the director of choreography Jason Gilkison or Pasha or someone else who was responsible for that. Pasha has always seemed a very creative choreographer and I think other pros would put their foot down about wanting more content unless the celeb was so limited they try to reduce amount of dancing and hope they nail that.
Also I forgot to say full respect for Susan Calman for really letting herself go, great facial expressions, throwing herself about, getting the legs out and really entering into the spirit of Strictly after all the issues about a same sex partner.
