Simon Rimmer and Ruth are the total outsiders in the betting, Simon is bigger odds than Rev Richard Coles which is a bit surprising to me. But neither is likely to win to be fair and being an outsider does not necessarily mean you will be first out.
I think Susan Calman could be this year's novelty Ed Balls type contestant especially as she has potential to be funny away from the dancefloor too, answering Craig back etc.

Susan's enthusiasm on twitter is hilarious and charming already- yesterday she learned that dance shoes hurt! I think her and Richard Coles could be excellent charming comedy contestants who will both really love to dance even if they can't!

yesterday she learned that dance shoes hurt! They really do when you're breaking them in (or when you've done too much Latin in too high heels for too many hours!) - I feel her pain!

Just an FYI, the Strictly BBC ticket lottery is now open for anyone who wants to enter. I've only been successful once in 12 years of trying(!), so the odds aren't really in your favour, but worth a go, if you want to try! Also, if anyone gets Blackpool tickets they can't use, there's a local girl here who'd gratefully use them!!!

I've never been successful Me neither - but I don't bother now as I've heard since they moved studios it's a nightmare of hours standing in the cold and rain, with only Tesco's toilets to get changed in. You have to get there early as they give out more tickets than there are places. I love the show, but not that much.

I can't remember, was there a spoiler thread last year? Maybe there should be this year anyway.

The site I listed usually has Elimination Spoilers late on a Saturday night during the live shows, I never posted the results directly online but told people where they could find it if they wished.

I like the idea of having a spoiler thread on here - I presume a lot of us read the spoilers on Digitalspy anyway so it would be good to discuss them before Sunday nights!

I do love Strictly and of course I will be watching, but it is so formulaic now and predictable - I really should find something better to do - like go to the theatre!
I caught an hour of the X Factor last weekend (I will not be watching any more) and felt I was in a time warp. It was like I was watching the show 8 years ago or something with Louis, Sharon and Simon, sob stories, mediocre, karaoke singing, interviews, relations crying etc. They could have shown a repeat, saved the money and no-one would notice.

It was like I was watching the show 8 years ago or something with Louis, Sharon and Simon, sob stories, mediocre, karaoke singing, interviews, relations crying etc. They could have shown a repeat, saved the money and no-one would notice. I think Strictly will benefit, this year, from the lack of Len Goodman, the new head judge (and the passing of Brucie, in a way). Whilst both shows are formulaic, I think Strictly allows for more interest year after year, simply because they cast their show with a very specific mix of celebrities each time. People were moaning about the lack of 'big names' when the list was announced this year, but I suspect they've pitched it pretty right, in order to get the best mix and interest. The new head judge immediately creates a slightly different feel to the judging panel - we've yet to see how that works, but I doubt Shirley Ballas would have been recruited if the mix didn't work at all - but I suspect a more female skewing team (2 female judges, 2 female hosts) just takes the show a little step away from what it was before, and certainly distinguishes it from XF, which is currently deeply dull, even at this, the more interesting part of the show's run! The changes to Strictly freshen up the show immediately, for me.

Shirley Ballas is on The One Show now and she seems lovely. I'll wait and see what she's like as a judge but I'm optimistic. I wasn't much of a fan of Len anyway.

Just watched Shirley on the One Show. I thought she came across really well with a great story behind her rise to fame. Looking forward to seeing her already. What a mum too!

Just a quick show of hands, please...
Am I the only person who is seriously irked by the existence of the 'Strictly Spoiler'? I don't see the point of being so obsessed with finding out the result before the Sunday night when it's broadcast. I've read through their site a few times the last couple of years and you'd swear some of the people on there would think they were Edward bloody Snowden. I really don't like how people feel it's so important that they know before everybody else.
What next? We have sites to find out who wins Bake Off after week one, or what's going to happen in the last episode of Doctor Foster before the first one's even aired?

With dramas I tend not to want to hear them but sometimes if I find out what happens it doesn't bother me. For example I'm really behind on How To Get Away With Murder so I have an idea of what's going to happen. It really doesn't matter or spoil my enjoyment and if it's a certain character dying or something then I can prepare myself.

You don't know what's going to happen in HTGAWM before it's actually broadcast in the U.S. When Strictly is recorded on the Saturday the only people who are meant to know the result are the contestants, the people who work on the programme & an audience selected by the BBC, who as far as I know, are told not to divulge the information. It's not been put into the public domain. Is it always audience members who leak the info or does the site have a mole who works on the production?

I think there used to be a mole but now it's just audience members. I could be wrong. I used to try not to find out Game of Thrones spoilers because I'm reading the books - well trying, but what a slog and I'm not convinced it's worth it. Anyway, I love the Strictly spoiler!!! Long may it continue ;-)

Just a quick show of hands, please... Me. I don't go on the spoiler threads - prefer to wait. I think it would be absolutely pointless watching the results show if you already know the result. I only look if I'm going to be out or maybe sometimes if the family are placing bets that I need to win....😈

I don't actively seek out spoilers, but I'm not too bothered if I do come across them. I'm a bit bored of the results show pretending that it's Sunday when everyone knows it's prerecorded. I personally would prefer a shorter live results show later on Saturdays, but I know I might be in the minority there.
