Finally saw this on Saturday after winning the ticket lottery! After losing every digital lottery in town we decided it was worth giving Mormon a go and clearly I have some sort of Mormon super power because we did hooray! (A34-5 for those interested). I'd gone this long without seeing it partly because I was never sure it was exactly to my taste (I'm not easily offended- quite the opposite in terms of dark close to the line humour) but I'd not loved much of Parker/Stone's other work so didn't rush to this. Also a personal element of 'yes I know there's jokes about Mormons and AIDS hahaha yeah it's like Team America hahaha' gets old REAL quick. Anyway, I did find this very very funny and hugely entertaining. We knew there had been a recent cast change (but didn't know how recent) and it shows in that she show feels really fresh. The dynamics between Price/Cunningham are really great too- some brilliant comic moments. I also loved the Mormon 'pack' in general- it's great fun in a scene to watch different ones and see their reactions to things. I loved the show as a whole- it's a great balance of contemporary humour and traditional Broadway musical storytelling- pretty near perfectly pitched. I do wonder if we could ever see the likes of it again, and think that frankly a dose of non-PC close to the wire humour does a lot of people some good. Personally, I'd defiantly file it under a musical I could re-visit time and time again. It's a great fun pick me up of a musical. So pleased that you enjoyed it. I just knew you would x

I was positively surprised by how much I enjoyed the show! It's simply a really well written and executed comedy! It has just the right amount of meaning and drama/real feelings to sustain 2 hours of fun. It is so full of references and with a mixture of music and dance genres... All the cast was really talented and into it, especially Dom Simpson as the main guy.
If you understand that everything on stage is presented from the point of view of Elder Price, then what is being mocked is not the Africans but the stupid white privileged american boy, without being too bitter. In the end, `the Africans` are shown as capable of abstraction - it's all a metaphor and they know it, it was just the young and naive character of Nabulungi who believed all those fantastic Mormon stories were actually true.

Happened to be walking past the theatre just before they were drawing the names for the lottery last night so I entered and won (for a third time - maybe I should play the real lottery?), making last night my 4th visit, and 3rd different cast. The current cast are probably the best I've seen so far (including the originals WE cast) and the whole show felt a lot more fresh than it did when I saw it around a year ago. The current Cunningham has my favourite Nabulungi name so far too {Spoiler - click to view} Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Batman! . If anyone hasn't seen it in a while I'd definitely recommend now being a good time for a return visit! When at the box office paying for the lottery win, I could hear the tourists at the 'regular' box office window very happily shelling out over £100 per ticket for the last few remaining seats. It's amazing that even after 5 years this show has such a pull. There was easily around 80-100 people entering the lottery too.

I agree - this is the best cast I've seen for some time. I didn't particularly like Cody Jamison Strand as Cunningham - but J Michael Finley is one of my favourites. I loved what he does with the role, and I too love that new Nabalungi name jamb0r mentioned. Him and Dom have really brought something fresh to the show that was missing with KJ and Cody.

Any news about the UK Tour for this one the last update I had was that it's set to start roughly this time next year. Not sure if that's still accurate, and not sure when it'll be announced, sorry! Thanks

Saw this last night for the first time in the while. In the cheap seats near the back of the Circle, right against the wall. Reminded how comfortable this theatre is.
It turned out to be a captioned performance, which was a good thing, as I could finally work out a few of the lines (and the four letter words are much clearer written on the screen than when they're sung).
It was a night of covers. These are the ones I've worked out from West End Understudies.
Tom Xander (standby) on as Elder Cunningham David McMullan (second cover) on as Elder Mckinley Alex Lodge on as Joseph Smith/Mission President Olly Christopher on as Elder Young/Cunningham's Dad
Tom Xander was the only one announced at the start. He got a big cheer (on all week, so I presume his fans are in).
The funniest line ("Nigel Farage") is still in there and clearly scripted, based on the screen. The "Batman" line one of the previous posters mentioned isn't in there.
They've updated the lyrics of "I Believe", so it is now "And I believe that the current President of the Church, Russell Nelson, speaks directly to God".
The show is still in great shape, although I can see things starting to date, particularly the txting jokes.
Dom Simpson is the best Elder Price I've seen for a while. Very strong vocals.
Tom Xander is also an excellent Elder Cunningham, in the traditional funny chubby guy role.
David McMullan was fine, but didn't stand out on stage for me as Elder Mckinley, perhaps due to looking so like the other cast in terms of physical appearance, height and stage presence. I'm also used to this being played very camp, which isn't how David played in. But a nice surprise to see a 2nd cover in the role (and presumably most, if not all, of the swings on too).
I'll also single out Leanne Robinson (Nabulungi) as having an excellent voice.
This is still really popular, with long queues down the side of the theatre to get in. And obviously lots of repeat visitors based on the people sat around me.

Finally saw this. Good fun. Entertaining. clever. The cast was not "tired" and there were strong vocal and acting performances all round. Wouldn't get away with writing this about a non-Christian religion though.

The 2010 workshop of the show is now on youtube. It's pro shot. Its really interesting to see what they changed before opening the show under a year later.

I noticed Nabulungi's Hasa Diga Eebowai reprise (well, Eelohai originally) was there from the beginning, but cut when previews started for some reason, then added again. I've always loved it and wish they had included it in the cast recording.

Took my sister to see this last monday, her first visit, my first return to the show in London (have seen the US tour) since previews. We had a total blast. The cast were great, the audience looked to be near full and it had a great atmosphere. I believe was underpowered but everything else seemed spot on. Well done to the producers and cast for keeping the show fresh and full of energy.

That had been floating around Google Drive for a bit and I'm surprised it's lasted this long on YouTube! Josh Gad tweeted a gif from it a couple of months ago but I guess BoM made him take it down. Ha.

Went to the Saturday matinee of BOM this week, and whilst enjoyable it didn’t match the all out joy & hilarity of my first visit. The new Price looked only just the right side of comfortable, but the understudy Cunningham was great. Easier to get right I feel as he is a charicature. Steven Webb made a great McMillan too. Just not sure it’s ripe for repeat viewing.

Just not sure it’s ripe for repeat viewing. I was lucky enough to go to the initial previews and thought it was funny but wouldn’t need to see it again. Have since seen it three times with out of towners and actually found it funnier than ever much to my surprise. Give it another go.

Lol with the amount of shows closing soon, I was scared when I saw someone had posted here! This is still selling amazingly well, right?

Last time I tried to get a ticket for a few specific dates they were completely sold out. They have started using TodayTix in the last year to push tickets and offers (such as the 25 shows for £25, etc) which they hadn't really done for at all since opening, so I'd say that's a indicator of slight slowing slowing sales... Not anything to worry about just yet mind.

Mormon has started doing that on TodayTix on Broadway this year as well. It's consistently selling out, but not a surprise after this long.

I imagine Mormon will still be around for its 10th anniversary but beyond that I’m not sure. I think the London production will either close or move if Cameron wants the Prince of Wales for another show.

I can’t imagine Cameron will be doing absolutely anything with a show which is still selling well.
