Saw Jodie Jacobs at Wicked several weeks back. The person I was with is a huge Rock of Ages fan so went over to say hello at the interval and Jodie's sister (who she was with) couldn't believe that Jodie had been recognised on a night out and kept asking us if Jodie had put us up to it and paid us to come over and pretend to know who she was. Both lovely people.
Again at Wicked, Brian May was at Anita Dobson's first Morrible show about a month ago. He went to take his seat before the show and someone screamed at what certainly sounded like the top of their lungs "LOOK, IT'S BRIAN MAY!" Half the theatre turned to look and Brian put his head down and tried to conceal his face to which someone else shouted "No point Bri, the hair gives it away!" which made several people laugh. I'm not too bothered about him either way but that must have been horrible.

Jealous! Biggins is the one unticked entry in my Ladybird Book of Minor British Celebrities. Les Mis at Queens Theatre with Matt Lucas, Alfie Boe etc and Biggins was in the audience behind me somewhere, giggling inappropriately through "Lovely Ladies".

When I went to see Les Mis at the Palace- the day it moved from the Barbican, so they made it another "opening night"- Biggins was there too! He must like Les Mis. Or does he just like being seen?

Honestly I wish theatres would stop flinging press night comps to every random C- and D-lister who wants one. It looks so desperate. And this is pure sour grapes admittedly but I have so many friends who are lower tier reviewers or bloggers, and they get sent away with a flea in their ear for asking for comps. And don't get me started on that plus one non-controversy. /is in curmudgeonly mode/

Peter Capaldi at The Entertainer last Monday.
I resisted the temptation to yell Malcolm Tucker style expletives at him.

Biggins would go to the opening of a crisp packet wouldn't he? The press night of the original Stratford "Carrie" was delayed and we were all kept in the bar area - too packed to move. I happened to be standing in front of Mr B, and was half deaf as he kept shuffling sideways and booming, "Hello! I'm Christopher Biggins" at anyone he thought he knew. After that, there were very few things to scare me in the actual show. Oh very interesting, but did he have a pack of crisps?

Biggins was at the Barbara Cook concert some years ago at the Coliseum. My husband nudged me and said 'oh look it's Timmy Mallett'

Alex Gaumond and Damian Humbley together at Funny Girl last performance tonight. Wonder if the tour casting is done yet.
I middle-aged-woman fan-girled to Damian Humbley about Lend Me A Tenor in the interval (he was standing on his own). Said how much I loved it and he seemed delighted. Didn't mention the mug, soundtrack or signed poster cos I didn't want to scare him (and I was blushing profusely)

Breakdowns just went out on Spotlight a few days ago, so auditions will probably start in the next couple of weeks, so it'll probs be a while before casting is finished...and even longer before they announce it!

Then I remembered I wasn't at the theatre tonight...

In addition to the names mentioned for Funny Girl, Laura Pitt Pulford (who sat next to me) and a very sprightly looking Betty Boothroyd.

Now, I am rubbish at noticing famous people at shows BUT at 'The Boys In The Band' tonight there was the delightfully handsome Oliver Chris AND the movie star (and Mr. One Degree of Separation from movie's "Mr. Sex", i.e., Michael Fassbender) James McAvoy (I was in groping distance of both) BUT more excitingly . . .
*drum roll*
Only

At "Phantom of the Opera" on Monday : Charles Hart, Andrew Lloyd Webber,Anneka Rice, Michael Ball [sitting a few rows infront of me], John Owen Jones,Sierra Boggess, Cameron Macintosh, Cathy McGowan, Richard Stilgoe, Claire Moore, Jenni Falconer, Michael Crawford. Does anyone know who the man outside the theatre was with Jenni Falconer before they started interviews? He looked very familiar & was holding a camera at one time.

d'James I've just done some research & I now know who he is. Her husband James Midgley. He has just played Ronnie O'Driscoll in Corrie which is why I recognized him.
