Listening to Benny Andeersson (ABBA, Mama Mia, Chess, Kristina) playing his compositions on Piano. Great stuff. It sort of sounds like the music they play in hotel lobbies or fancy restaurants.

Unpacking boxes in my new flat, i was listening to the OBCR of The Rink. Such a great score with so many stand out numbers. And who doesn't love Chita and Liza on the same score??
Unfortunately the book has always been a mess. The best production I've seen was Kathryn Evans and Linzi Hateley. An amazing pairing.

This morning I have on Return to the Forbidden Planet. Clearly I fancied some familiar sixties songs, held together with flimsy arragements, pisspoor 80s synths, and a flimsy melodramatic plot.

Live cast recording of Hadestown. It's the story Orpheus and Eurydice, but told during the depression era. The music is folk music with a southern twist. Directed by Rachel Chavkin of Natasha and the Great Comet of 1812. Really special stuff.

I'm only aware of Patti's new album through this thread, but have had "Matters of the Heart" on a bit lately. It has excellent takes on Randy Newman and Merrily, which pleases me.
Worked away Wedneday to the OBC's of Chicago (with Chita. Beautiful album/production art. Somehow new to me. Have always gone straight to the Bebe Neuwirth) and Joseph (The 1982 Broadway Joseph is hands-down the best recording. In a class above the rest).

^ Matters of the Heart is GORGEOUS. One of my favorite Patti albums. It's just her, piano and an occasional string quartet. Beautiful stuff.
Joseph has the late Laurie Beechman, who is always a pleasure to listen to. There's just something heartbreaking and melancholic about her precious voice.

I sampled Bat Out Of Hell on the treadmill today, but couldn't get into it. I haven't seen the show (any idea when it will re-open in London?), so maybe I'll enjoy this a lot more after seeing the show.
I'm listening to the 2015 Stratford recording of Carousel, in preparation for the Broadway revival. Beautiful orchestra and great vocals.

I'm currently on holiday in the sun and I time the amount of time I stay out in the sun at 1 CD on my ipad before I take a break. So yesterday was Funny Girl which was fine but today it was Hamilton and I've burnt myself. It goes on forever. .....

As the nights start drawing in and it starts to get a little bit colder, I always seem to dig out the OBC of The Secret Garden. I dont know if it's the dark opening, but its very much an autumn/winter recording rather than a summer one of that makes any sense at all!

My current obsession is the OBCR of Company - in my quest to listen to as many different versions as I could, I discovered that none of the revival recordings compare to the original orchestrations or performances.
