Rosie the Musical, partly in preparation for seeing the fabulous Lucy Thomas in concert on Tuesday.
It's my favourite ever "cast recording" of a show that doesn't actually exist yet !

Just listening to LMM's "Warriors". This is so emphatically NOT for me, I feel like I should book my plot on the cemetery now for feeling old.

You are not alone, just tried it and gave up pretty quickly. Just not my kind of music at all. I'm now listening to Jason Robert Brown in concert. Far more relaxing for a wet Saturday morning whilst dusting the leaves of my plants.

Just dotted in to some of the tracks of LMM's "Warriors" on YouTube. Really didn't like it, but it's not designed to be listened to that way - I'll listen to it properly end-to-end and hope to be drawn in and bowled over!
The audio production uses a lot of compression, and possibly autotune - for something set on the streets it feels very processed and electronic.* Some on social media are touting it as ground-breaking but I thought it sounded like the OLC 'Starlight Express'. Even the way the gang members announce their names is like Electra's followers in 'AC/DC'.
Not sure this show is a megastar a megawatt.
*It'll be lower quality audio on YouTube I'm sure, but interesting risk/rewards creatives have in putting their work out in different media at varying fidelity.

I'm listening to WARRIORS now too, and have to agree with all of the above. It is really NOT for me! Then again, I think I'm still one of the only people on the planet who has not seen HAMILTON, as the music left me cold. I liked IN THE HEIGHTS, but it did not blow me away.

I've listened to it all now (via YouTube) on a computer with better speakers, and it's not as electronic/compressed in sound as I'd said. I think it's good when all tracks are listened to in context of ...itself. I'll listen to it in full probably once more, and then there are 3 or 4 tracks that I'll come back to for pleasure, I reckon. Posted more fully on the thread for 'The Warriors'

I can guess what we will all be listening to tomorrow! I'm looking forward to trying out my new Bluetooth speaker to listen to it. And some lucky forum members on the other side of the world have already heard it.

The only time spotify has notified me of a recording release and told me it would download automatically. I cant work out if this genius or just aggressive. I never listen to ALW but i am suprised at how often it appears as a recommendation on the app

Sunset for me too. The orchestra sound glorious although I’m frustrated by how much Nicole ‘mumbles as acting’. Sing out Louise!

I listened to the SUNSET album this morning. It does sound glorious! I had goosebumps a plenty! Scherzinger even sounds better than I remembered. The Final Scene is just as thrilling as in the theatre.
Next up - the Jason Robert Brown/Stephen Sondheim Concert album.

Listened to Sunset several times since downloading it on Friday, hearing new things in the orchestration with every listen and it's made me even more excited to see it again on the next Broadway trip. I also just ordered the red vinyl edition as there's 20% off soundtrack orders on the official website until 31st October using the code WITHONELOOK, in case that is useful for anyone.

I listened to the Jason Robert Brown/Stephen Sondheim album this morning, and loved it. ‘Good Thing Going’ sung by the man himself was very moving, as was hearing him speak during the interview portion. ‘Move On’ always gets me.
The ‘It’s Hard to Speak My Heart’ re-harmonisation was very interesting, with two drastically different pieces made out of the same tune.
It is also great hearing some of JRB’s work. Is he the composer we can say is passing on Sondheim’s mantle?
