Bradley Cooper's film 'Maestro' in which he plays Bernstein is out on Netflix later this year. He's unrecognisable under all that latex.

Bonnie & Clyde. I'd only heard How 'Bout A Dance before.

‘35mm’ - my sons uni group are taking it to Edinburgh this Summer so I’ve been getting used to and am loving it.

Donnybrook. Flop show but contains a fab song, Sad Was The Day, which Sondheim included on his Songs I Wish I'd Written list.

Kimberley Akimbo. Donnybrook has the superb Susan Johnson and the duet "I Wouldn't Bet One Penny" is a favourite.

They're Playing Our Song — after my Bond concert last night I felt like a bit of Marvin Hamlisch.
Gemma Craven sounds fab, but nothing like she does in The Slipper and The Rose! I had to check it was the same Gemma Craven.

I had to check it was the same Gemma Craven. I remember seeing this at the Menier years ago with Connie Fisher (after her role as Maria in Sound of Music). Apart from the title song, which I knew anyway, I can't remember any of the songs. Maybe time to revisit the recording.

No new ear worms presented themselves at ‘Groundhog Day’, so I’ve been listening to the new McFly album and Bring Me The Horizon after their blistering set on Friday at Download. They were seriously fantastic. I love being surprised by people you are only half familiar with and this lot put on quite the show.

Operation Mincemeat, and also Something Rotten which I have somehow missed up until this point. I would particularly recommend the track "A Musical" from SR if you haven't listened - try and spot all the allusions to other shows, and then go on genius.com to see which ones you've completely missed!

Sunset because I booked my tickets yesterday. Will be interesting hearing how different (possibly technically better?) Nicole will be vs Glenn on the CD I’ve got.

Technically better perhaps, but can she act it? I seem to remember her Maureen in Rent just being her PCD sass with a layer of lipstick lesbian.

I guess we’ll find out come September. It’s highly unlikely she’ll be as good as multi-Oscar nominee and Tony winner Glenn Close though!

I think you’re underestimating ‘Masked Singer USA’ & ‘X Factor’ judge Nicole. If Norma needs to whoop ‘n’ holler with some ‘oh snap’ sass, she’s your gal.

It’s the acting bit that’s an unknown as you pointed out. I guess time will tell how she shapes up there but Glenn sure is a hard act to follow.

Some really nice piano too.

Anyone listened to the new complete recording of Oklahoma? It's pretty glorious hearing those original orchestrations with modern recording techniques. The strings sound especially great. The cast is also pretty top notch with Nathaniel Hackmann as my stand out performer. The whole thing is mixed a little quiet though so I have to turn it up louder than most of my other albums to feel the full effect. I pretty much exclusively listened to the 2018 Broadway recording but now I'll definitely add this in to my rotation whenever I'm looking to hear a more traditional take on this score. Highly recommend.
Can't wait for the rumoured Carousel complete recording which is sorely needed since no recording, as far as I'm aware, includes every musical number let alone all the incidental music/scene changes etc. If it's as quality as this Oklahoma is then it's sure to replace my go to which is the 1994 Broadway revival recording. That one is so nearly perfect but it just misses the mark because it doesn't include The Highest Judge of All and Michael Hayden is not the best singer.

Downloaded it this morning to listen to later on today with a cup of tea and a nice bit of cake. I saw the John Wilson prom at ahead RAH with Nathaniel Hackman and he was superb. It was also my introduction to the wonderful Robert Fairchild.

Loving Oklahoma! I've found some recent cast albums have felt a little soulless, where each voice and instrument sound disconnected from each other if that makes sense? Like you can tell they were all recorded separately. But this one is really lovely. Sounds great on Apple Music. Plus at times Jamie Parker's accent on this is very similar to the one he used in Assassins at the Menier. Which has just delighted me.
