Someone alerted me to "A strange loop", the cast recording of the Off-Broadway show. It's funny, clever smart and full of great tunes, in short it's everything those new noisy American teen pop musicals wish they were!

Little Shop of Horrors 1984 off-broadway recording. I’ve enjoyed more then the 2003 revival recording.

City Of Angels OBC at the moment. Getting myself ready for Queen Rosalie's return to the stage! City of Angels OLC for me after many many years, was surprised how little I liked it. Already booked because of Rosalie and it is one of those shows that you know about, but have never actually seen. Hopefully I will like it more in the theatre.

Little Shop of Horrors 1984 off-broadway recording. I’ve enjoyed more then the 2003 revival recording. I've listened to a few different cast recordings over the years, but I just love that movie soundtrack and don't think it can be bettered. Would have loved to have seen Groff as Seymour in NYC though.

I have been listening to the new cast recordings of Emojiland and Broadway Bounty Hunter. Not really sold yet on either of them (Emojiland reminding me a bit too much of Avenue Q, not really loving the Broadway Bounty Hunter score despite the wonderful Annie Golden).
My cast recording of the year so far is Octet by Dave Malloy - cannot stop listening and discovering more of its brilliance.

Read this before I left for work this morning, so quickly downloaded it and listened on my way in. Absolutely bonkers in a charming way. I can’t wait to finish it on the way home and try and work out what is going on. Thanks for the recommendation; I could never get on with ‘Great Comet’.

Not a cast recording but I'm just listening to Bitch, Bitch, Bitch Matt Lucas podcast. This one is about west end actors and includes Rob Houchen. Worth a listen.

I never ‘got’ Adding Machine, maybe I need to give it another go... or maybe not.
Currently listening to: - The Grinning Man, following the recent YouTube broadcast of the Bristol production - The Witches of Eastwick, in honour of the 20th Anniversary of the opening of the London production at Drury Lane.

The latest thing I fell in love with was Dave Malloy's Preludes and other than that my big discoveries of the year are Philip Glass' Akhenaten and Starmania.

I am currently jumping between Waitress and Wicked on Spotify. Both incredible soundtracks that I can just delve into and happily pass away a few hours while working!

For anybody who, like me, prefers to buy physical music from a physical shop, now is a good time to have a flick through the S&M section of HMV.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what has been discounted, and the two branches closest to me have different stock reduced, but there are some gems to be had for only £2.99 each. There is also the Cats film soundtrack!
It may be in vain, but I'm trying my best to keep the High Street alive...at least that's what I keep telling myself when I arrive home with more 'stuff' that I don't really need. 🙂
