The Stage is doing a poll on Instagram on whether more musicals should hold singalong performances. Currently 51% saying yes and 49% saying no. Ooh it’s the new Brexit.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend as I CAN’T THINK OF A SINGLE THING MORE HORRIFIC THAN THIS! And I’m easily pleased.

Perversely, much as I hate opera, I'd probably hand over good cash for a singalong performance of a huge "Star Name" opera production at the Royal Opera House... I'd love a singalonga Songs of Travel with Mr Terfel.

In a way it could be good to have, say one show a week specifically singalong, to make it clear the other nights are NOT. I think this is a brilliant, simple idea. I’d also like to suggest “Crisps Nights”, or perhaps widen it to “Rustling Nights” to reach a wider demographic.

I thought they’d got over ‘crisp-gate’ by putting them in a big cardboard tub and charging a fiver for them?

Andrew Polec is leaving 1st September along with Patrick Sullivan.

So not only is there limited time left to see the legend that is Polec, but some of those dates are singalongs...😢
I may have just had a small mental episode.

I also had a mental episode... booking Eurostar tickets at short notice is idiotically expensive. But I can't not be there.

Well that’s slightly irritating, we we’re going to go on the 5th and hoping to catch Andrew seeing as we saw one of the alternates last time and my mate really wanted to try and see Andrew’s portrayal. I may have a chance of going up to London and catching him before the 1st (has the schedule been announced for the next few weeks?) but I know my mate won’t be able to. Ahh well, that’s just the way it goes sometimes.

For the next two weeks Andrew is missing Monday and Wednesday evenings, it's likely that'll be the same for the week after (although obviously not guaranteed). You're generally pretty safe to assume Andrew's on Tues/Thurs/Fri at least, unless he's at another event.

Is it just me .....
that thinks that the introduction of sing along performances is the beginning of the end. Why should theatres dumb down in this way. We will have mobile/tweet/face timing friendly performances next!
Just me then.....

Yes was hoping to see Andrew myself as we are going on 11th September. Odd that that they haven't announced a replacement given it is only just over 2 weeks away. It seems a sudden announcement.

Wouldn't be surprised if the new Strat is either Benjamin Purkiss (the original alternate Strat) or one of the current alternates - Simon Gordon or Jordan Luke Gage.

Is there a set schedule?
Anyone know who is due to be on this Saturday evening as Strat?

You can find the schedule on the official website under "Ticket Info" - you should be seeing Andrew on Saturday evening, he's usually off on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Wonder why it’s such short notice for the star of the show?

For those curious how this is doing with the 'normal' folk, my hairdresser (female, before anyone makes any gay men assumptions) not a theatre type but a casual touring musical goer, is booking for the entire family to go to this, having heard from her brother how great it was. So clearly a bit of word of mouth is filtering through to some. (both booking it off the back of loving Meatloaf)

I took my mother to see it while she was visiting this week (age 74, couldn't name a single Meat Loaf song - "Why is it called Bat Out of Hell? Is it about hell? I'm not sure I'll like that!") and to my surprise she really enjoyed it and said she would go again! She said she preferred it to "Allelujah!" and "The King and I" (which we also saw this week, and which she picked!). She's a pretty harsh critic too!

This is my parents' favourite musical - my dad is a big Meatloaf fan, so I'm not surprised he loved it, but my mum did too.
