God don't tell some posters on this board you've suggested her - shes blacklisted and shouldn't work again apparently! Me included! I was beyond annoyed as she wasn’t on when I saw Cabaret. She’s not high on my list at all atm. I do think she’s the front runner for the Olivier and she seems to be the “it” girl right now, she can do no wrong apparently, even not turning up to do her shows

Would she do a revival of Oliver? Playing a supporting role when she's just been nominated for an Oscar? Doesn't seem to have the same prestige as Cabaret.

Why am I sensing a Jessie Buckley-as-Nancy coup after she (I think it's happening...) wins the Olivier. I could see it being a big story - the role she was denied nearly 15 years ago, and now takes it on after just doing another classic musical role. Maybe not - she probably has a ton of TV/movie work lined up or some other theatre work. Or maybe she wouldn't even think about taking on this role after not getting the role all those years ago. Thoughts?

She would have been a good Nancy though!

She would have been a great Nancy, however she is now destined to be typecast in broken, slightly damaged parts rather than joyous but tragic salt of the earth types.

There were various comments along the lines of "she'll never work in theatre again" that are tantamount to the same thing.

Plenty of people have said that she'll never work in a musical again/get hired again which is just the same as being blacklisted.

...ok hun.
ANYWAY! Alex Young would be a super Nancy and I'd really like them to give it to someone every so slightly older than it's been cast at in recent memory.
And following his Strictly success (albeit a year and a bit ago) Bill Bailey would be a lot of fun as Fagin!

I wouldn’t underestimate the people on this board either in terms of who they know and what they hear. If it is being said in West End circles it will almost certainly reach one of our collective ears.

No idea if she can act, but if they go down the star casting route I think Perrie Edwards from Little Mix would be interesting..

Well CHF has mentioned it more than once recently as a role she’d ‘really love to play’ so could be a possibility? She’s in with CamMack

She certainly used to be, but after cinderella he may want more of a name, plus her reputation may be damaged off her behaviour. Cinderella was Carrie's first test as a box office draw in her own right in a major West end musical and she hasn't exactly sold it out. Her previous shows either had brand recognition, or were much smaller productions.

They’re selling £15 tickets at the moment just before Easter so I’m guessing Cinderella is struggling to sell.

I'd have thought it would sell on its own to be honest.
It's still really popular for music/spoken English festivals, and there's the new Dodger series on CBBC.

Well, if this were to open at Christmas, shouldn't they have announced it by now and started selling tickets? They haven't announced a closing date for Poppins--but not extended group bookings to Xmas either, so they might still be considering closing it some time in the autumn.

It's only April so still plenty of time for them to announce when Poppins is closing and Oliver is opening. I'd probably say June or July if it's opening in November/December.

I think Carrie is a good shout for this. It is far from a leading role so plenty of time to write books, unbox candles on you tube etc. The songs would all fit really nicely in her range too so should ‘t be a stretch or anything to complain about.

I can see it too, especially when they always want a 'younger than the usual' Nancy.

Hilarious! I totally predicted CHF as Nancy weeks ago on some thread. It’s probably wrong but uninformed speculation is our specialty here!

I did laugh quite a lot at "unbox candles on youtube".
