Word on the street is that she accepted the one show a week deal under the proviso that she was allowed to do the same for a Broadway transfer then succeed NS if the show ran past NS' 6-month contract. |

Mmmmm it looks like they don't want to sell any tickets on the standby day then Mmmmm it looks like selling tickets on the standby day was not a problem in the West End...and its not as if London audiences are any more familiar with her than Broadway audiences....she actually has as many Broadway credits as she does West End. |

This is not what actually happened - she said in an interview recently that when she accepted the role, it was offered as a 4 and 4 even split, but then she was counter offered the 1 show a week further down the role, which she almost didn't take, and had to really be convinced to do. |

I can't see producers taking Rachel to NY for one show a week. That makes no commercial sense at all - and there are lots of suitable Broadway ladies who might be interested in the gig.

I think it’s a “no” to that question at the moment.
Is this sort of reinvention of a classic the type of thing Broadway audiences go for usually? And, if it goes like a rocket , could it continue with a cast change?
Location wise, does the St James lend itself to the act 2 opener? Problematic?

Literally contracted hypothermia when I saw New York New York there. (My more relevant observation is that it's massive, so you'll certainly lose the (relative) intimacy of The Savoy). |

With Broadway economics, plus the timing for Tony Awards, I think it's highly likely they are planning for at least a 9-12 month* run. I could imagine Nicole will stay with the until approx. July, maybe longer if she wins the Tony and her voice holds out. Otherwise, I can imagine they would be looking for a replacement after Nicole.
* This does not mean the show will be open for bookings for the entire length of the run. It's typical in NYC that shows have shorter booking windows open at any one time than shows in London, for example.
