I wouldn't imagine the rebuilding of the Palace would cut capacity by that much, it's a big theatre.

Hopefully Katie will transfer and get that Tony. Heard a clip she sounds amazing. Her accent is really perfect. I really think it could be at circle in the square. I am not familiar with the Almeida Theatre how small is it? Is it like Fringe that just Almeida Theatre happens to be eligible for Oliviers Not according to recent posts on Broadwayworld. Apparently it might be Jessie Mueller

Kudos to whoever posted it if they happen to be correct.

it would not be shocking. Jessie did beautiful just like Katie. But Katie's accent was spot on. I do wish this had another run at a regional just to 'size it up'

The Nederlanders snatched it up pretty quickly and announced a Broadway production so it must have been in halfway decent shape. It will certainly be a much different show that what we saw at the Almeida which was a promising start but with lots of room for improvement.

I wonder what kind of initial run this will have. I’m delighted for them but this is the absolutely worst time for me, work wise, to try to book a trip.

Have to say the Palace looks great and I like they've moved the entrance to 47th Street.
I wonder if a London return will happen if it's a success on Broadway, could envision it going to the Adelphi or perhaps the Olympia Theatre in er, Olympia.

I wonder if a London return will happen if it's a success on Broadway, Very likely I'd say, both Groundhog Day and Hadestown came back (eventually) and Tammy Faye has even stronger Brit ties with Elton John and Katie Brayben. However the Palace is a huge barn to fill and Elton alone doesn't sell tickets (Lestat, anyone?), so I wonder how much pulling power it has.

Nicole's Tony may be slipping away I would give it to Katie myself- but Broadway loves a star and there will be way more heat behind her performance I would think.

It's much cheaper mid week. In October/Nov/Dec top price is $249 and balcony is $49.75

“We couldn’t agree terms” = they couldn’t pay what I wanted.
Well done for not trying to pretty it up with ”availability” nonsense.

Wonder who they'll get instead. Literally the only Broadway musical I am interested in other than Sunset Boulevard. (Doesn't bother me. He was fine but it was all about Katie Brayben for me. Though wonder if will affect sales. Assume he is a "name" over there whereas assume she isn't. She is sensational however).

Interesting. I would have thought all that stuff would be agreed before they start advertising that he is in the show. I agree that it's all about KB but he was also great so it's a little disappointing but I'll still be seeing it a couple of times when I go to NYC in Jan.

I wonder if 'terms' included a more prominent role.
Nobody wants to play Peron; well they do, but they love to moan about it afterwards.
Perhaps best for the production, as his relative fame (to a Broadway audience) might have unbalanced it, with fans wanting more.
Safest to star cast Swaggart?

Real shame - loved his performance. Shame we probably won’t get the cast album with his vocal.

There was obviously a contract in place - he woudnt have done the NYC press launch without it. My guess would be that he went back wanting more money and they said no. I wonder if 'terms' included a more prominent role. Given how long the show has been in pre production and they workshopped the new version of the show for NYC with him in it, i doubt he wanted a bigger part because he knew what he was getting into. His name above the title, maybe.

Given he originated the role (and probably did London for virtually no money) maybe he wanted a cut of all future profits and saw himself as part of the core production team a la Elton, Jake, James Graham, Rupert Goold etc? Given his character is based on an actual person maybe the producers disagreed? (and thought it would lead to having to renegotiate with Katie?) Just a guess. But if that was the reason I have some sympathy for Andrew here as if he had that sort of deal for Book of Mormon he'd be very rich (although he was unknown then). And didn't Michael Crawford get that kind of deal for Phantom? And there was this.
