If she went the camp route it would have been fabulous. Sadly it wasn’t

Media call today in Melbourne. Those who are curious might expect to see some footage soon.
Sarah looked to be the New Ways to Dream costume. Not sure if she performed or was just interviewed..
Personally, I thought she was most effective in performing that song so it wouldn't surprise me if they chose to showcase that.

I don’t have it, but if you go searching audio is around of that first Tuesday night preview ( With One Look and Never Said Goodbye ) and truthfully I don’t need to hear it again.
I will go back in a couple of weeks to see Silvie the alternative.

I think reviews will start appearing in the Sunday papers. We don’t really do review drops like London or Broadway.

A nice extended interview with Sarah and Tim (includes footage from the show, but no singing from Sarah). The Theatre Matters YouTube page have also posted Tim's performance of the title song, where it's confirmed in the comments that Sarah didn't sing at the press call.

A friend from Melbourne tells me that ticket availability is plentiful , and that the number of Brightman shows seem to be reducing.

A nice extended interview with Sarah and Tim (includes footage from the show, but no singing from Sarah). The Theatre Matters YouTube page have also posted Tim's performance of the title song, where it's confirmed in the comments that Sarah didn't sing at the press call. Interesting and quite candid interview. Sarah Brightman saying that acting hasn't been at the forefront of her career, so this was a challenge - so no rejoinder to those saying 'she's not really an actress'. A bit contradictory saying it was partly written on her voice, then that she's a soprano so she's had to find a way to make it work for her voice which is so different from others in the role. I guess that makes sense, as she says pieces were written (that she sang when married to ALW) but then shifted into this - probably in different keys and range. Press Call with Tim Draxl singing the title song was 11am, so I guess they weren't going to put the big name star through that and risk less than she's capable of. Taken all together it doesn't dissuade from nervousness that this hasn't been the best fit for Sarah Brightman (acting, and voice range); but she may have strengthened across previews. In which case, the full reveal will be quite something. Quite funny that video ends just as Sarah Brightman would be about to sing the first word of 'As If We Never Said Goodbye'. As if she never sang at all. The set and look seem cut from the exact same cloth as the original production and variant revivals of that, but the choreography and ensemble look really strong.

Apart from The Age and The Guardian the rest of those reviews are basically brought. Give us good reviews you get to come along to another opening night, so take them with a grain of salt.
