Hello!
Looking for some help, off to see Aladdin on Saturday and looking for a restaurant nearby for dinner. I usually go midweek so my usuals of Big Easy, Planet Hollywood or most tastecard options are out and got Bistro 1 booked for lunch.
Hoping for any special offers, set menu's or just general recommendations for 7 people (one 15 year old) that we can book in advance. Somewhere that does cocktails would be a bonus.
Any ideas?

Would Ed's Diner (couldn't get closer to the theatre if you tried!) suit your needs? I love that place haha. Me too! Great isn't it. Went there with my best mate before we went to see the Saigon 25th Anniversary Gala and watched all the celebs (and Louie Spence) arriving! Great fun! |

Surprised me to see a description of 'reasonable cost'. Checked the menu. Menu does look very nice but slightly more than I would want to pay.
Any recommendations on the list I might describe as 'reasonable cost'?

My go to eats place round there is NY Fold. Incredible NY-style pizza that is massively filling and very cheap. Always quite inside as well.

Rustiko is near. Great cocktails. Food ok but great value.
Vico is a fantastic Italian which ticks all the boxes!

There's a nice tapas bar called Mas Q Menos not far away. Not that cheap, but very nice.

Hard to find a place in Soho that doesn't do cocktails! However if you want cheap, cheerful but pretty good Italian go to Pollo just down Compton St towards TCR.
Given that branches of the Ivy are popping up all over the place, it now definitely counts as a chain. And not a very good one either.

I was referring to the original venue with the Ivy Club Not the variants which in fact are The Ivy Grill and Cafe Quite different from the real thing in fact In this case would you could Joel Robuchon a chain because he has a dozen restaurants? A chain with 20 odd Michelin stars My point was to avoid Ed's Diner and Planet Hollywood They are an insult to food and a culinary joke I would rather go hungry than eat there |

Besides, Ed's at the Prince Edward is pretty small for seven people, and I don't know if they take reservations. Also if you're not much of a burger eater, you probably won't find much to enjoy there. You know, on the Cursed Child website, they've got a whole list complete with map of eateries near the Palace, which just so happens to be extremely close to the Prince Edward. I like Ed's at The Trocodero; if you're there around 6 you can get a table fairly easily, or sit at the counter.
Ed's is a franchise, I believe, rather than a chain.

I went to the Pizza Express on Greek Street (you can see the theatre from the restaurant) when I went to see Aladdin last week. You can definitely book and I know too well about the vouchers.

The pub opposite, The Coach and Horses, is one of my favourite Central London pubs. Christ knows how they manage to keep it so civil and quiet in one of London's busiest areas, but I absolutely love them for it.

The only insult I get from eateries that automatically add the gratuity for you is the insult to themselves in taking less than I would have given had it been left to me to freely offer.
If you're VIOLENTLY opposed to the idea of the gratuity in all its forms, the Tokyo Diner in Chinatown does good, affordable, plentiful Japanese food, and specifically requests that you don't tip at all.
