3 stars from the Times and 5 stars from the Daily Mail - must be the first time I've agreed with them on something! I am also surprised by this! I absolutely ADORED it but normally align with the Gaurdian and vehemently disagree with the Daily Mail. The Telegraph also liked it, I feel like I'm going mad

First 5 stars by allthatdazzles also more production pictures are out He loves everything 🤣. He’s just delighted to get an invite After the way he rubbished (Bad) Cinderella and Aspects of Love, led a hateful campaign against Andrew Lloyd Webber, I don’t think he should be invited. If he’s to be taken seriously as a journalist, I do think a level of impartiality should still be expected in the same way we expect of political journalists.

This kicker from The Guardian review is probably a good summary of where things fall for many:
"Even so, it is sure to incite strong reactions. For some, it may be the show of the year. For me it was emotionally empty. Either way, few people will walk out indifferent."

Looking through different dates on their booking system and I havent see a single day where the same seats are the same prices. The stalls seats pricing is constantly moving around, some day row M is cheaper, then its £60 more the next day. Very odd.

Loving reading these reviews. From what I've read online via Google it seems mixed to positive reviews with mostly positive. Dont remember Sunset getting this type of love from critics in any previous production

If you go through the Sunset Insta Story that’s quite a hefty amount of big names! And lovely to see that Elaine Paige attended as an ex-Norma. Will be interesting to see if she comments on it in her show on Sunday and what she'll have to say about it

You can always count on Lesley Joseph to turn up to everything.. Lesley Joseph would turn up to the opening of a crisp packet with Biggins. And the MEN will go to the opening of a bag of crisps! 🧐

His anti ALW campaign so vicious, but more than that so persistent (?18 months ish) that find it just astonishing he’d be invited to an ALW opening night. Have they not seen his feed on the hellsite previously known as Twitter?!?!

Obsessed with them concluding that no one will leave this indifferent then promptly awarding a star rating that was, errr, indifferent 🤦🏻♂️. Love it. Inconsistent icons!

I think it’s safe to say that Nicole will win an Evening Standard award for this- they love a celebrity… and perhaps an Olivier is highly likely now too…?

Sorry to detract from the reviews - has anyone sat Row N of the stalls, do you miss much from the overhang? Trying to avoid paying the next price banding up 🤣

Trying to avoid paying the next price banding up 🤣 Yes, I was central row N - I didn't feel like I missed anything at all from the overhang and felt surprisingly close, I wouldn't go up a price band to be a tiny bit nearer.

Panic over folks, Biggins WAS there! He and his husband are in the red carpet video on ATG's Instagram page.

For what its worth, I just posted on twitter @official ALW in response to his tweet about opening night, a response asking for a new FULL cast recording with this cast. It's bonkers to me that every freaking Sondheim cast gets a new recording but for Sunset it will be 30 years since our last one

It's bonkers to me that every freaking Sondheim cast gets a new recording but for Sunset it will be 30 years since our last one Oh don’t even get me started! I am DESPERATE for a new complete cast recording of this and my God do the current cast and orchestration warrant it. The lack of recordings for pretty much all West End ALW revivals after their first RUG one drives me bonkers. (And the you-know-whats that exist out there are really nothing like a fully engineered recording and sadly really don’t do it for me).

Panic over folks, Biggins WAS there! He and his husband are in the red carpet video on ATG's Instagram page. The ghost of Manfred. Or the chimp. If only Biggins was as 'edited out' as Manfred has been (and Manfred was innocent and never appeared on GBNews, though Lloyd has perhaps missed a multimedia trick there).

Continuing my obsession with Manfred:
Does anyone think Jamie Lloyd is saving Manfred for a spin-off show in which he self-referentially explores the impact on Manfred of being the only character shunned from his production of a show about the shunning of a star? Title: "Shunned" (not 'Shucked') Starring Patti Lupone as Manfred.
