Quick question. Where in the recording does the screen come down and show the opening titles? I can't remember anymore. Car Chase

Quick question. Where in the recording does the screen come down and show the opening titles? I can't remember anymore. It starts coming down around 20 seconds in when the beat sets in and the opening titles start as the strings set in about 10 seconds later. ‘SUNSET BLVD’ appears on the screen as the title theme plays (1:15 min) (feels like it was written for this)

Thanks for your help. I know it wasn't right at the opening but just couldn't remember exactly.

I simply love this recording it's really brought back the overwhelming feeling I had in the theatre which a lot of recordings don't do.

First time I’ve bought a cast recording in years. Loving it. Really just sweeps along. Terrific voices captured so well.

I'm disappointed the deluxe doesn't even feature the new libretto in the booklet.
HOW POOR!!!

We always listen to musicals on Friday afternoons in the office, this has provided an excellent accompaniment to the end of the week's work! Really impressed with the sound quality for a live recording

Are the LuPonneisms supposed to be intentional? I didn’t see the show but some of the delivery of lines and notes are very Patti!

It was a Friday, right around this time of year, 31 years ago when I stumbled upon an "import" of the World Premiere Recording of Sunset Blvd and it was Christmas come early. I was obsessed with all the development of the show and was stuck with simply the Barbara Streisand recordings of WOL and AIWNSG... I hadn't even heard the overture or title song at that point. I will never forget listening straight through to the WPR twice that afternoon into evening. First time I can ever recall connecting and falling in love with a musical score - and something I've never really experienced since. But today - today came pretty close to that. I was stuck in traffic and didn't mind 4 hours in the car as I got to blast this recording two times in a row. This easily became the best of any Sunset recording out there... that orchestra - Wow... Can't believe its only 19 pieces. What a treasure - what a gift - so grateful for all the creatives for the love, care and attention put into this so we could continue to enjoy this in between theatre visits

I followed your example chernjam and am on a drive right now (okay I pulled over to type this message!) with the glorious Dolby Atmos recording playing through my car system. I think I'm going to play this recording to death. It sounds sensational - like being in the theatre. Crystal clear vocals and perfect orchestra. Wonderful!

So are we all still listening to this fabulous piece of musical art?

I do love the record but - as someone who knows the score inside out - I find the cuts and changes jarring. It’ll take a few goes through to acclimatise!

She ate it up and left no crumbs. I think that’s what the kids say these days? Yes. "She ate c**taminated food at the Mother buffet and had explosive slayarrhoea." Is another thing I see them say on the Twiddler/X. They have their own language. Culturally fascinating.

So it's absolutely sensational.
Almost game changing as a cast recording. The sound they have created is just phenomenal. In fact this production should win every award for sound (both in the theatre and on record) that exists. It truly is definitive. I'd go on but it'll just be a boring list of endless superlatives.
What a production. What a cast!
(My only annoyance is same music dept, same team, same record label - so frustrating that the TLC that went into this seems not to have gone into Starlight from what we've heard so far. Time will tell on that one. I'll remain hopeful! But for now; Sunset is EPIC!)

I'm disappointed the deluxe doesn't even feature the new libretto in the booklet. HOW POOR!!! Yeah! I felt the same! Style wise it's deffo in line with the aesthetic of the production - and indeed of physical music releases these days. Graphics yes. But minimal printed info. Tension II (Kylie) has a million physical formats with multiple different layouts and graphics but zero useful or interesting printed info anywhere. (There are lyrics on version I have but too small to actually read). Seems to be the modern way!

Its funny you say that - in Act Two right after "I know that we can" I was waiting for "I don't think you should shoot before July 15" But to be honest, I really don't miss The Ladys Paying/Eternal Youth - and find the new changes there very haunting and dark

I like the melody but it doesn’t fit this new version. The section that replaced it in act 1 is absolutely hypnotic (and I say that as someone who usually likes everything to be sung; but the dialogue and underscoring is magnetic).

And why erase all the mentions of Norma’s contemporaries - Clara Bow, Douglas Fairbanks etc - if they’re going to retain the story about Rudy Valentino? It doesn’t make much sense. I’m not nuts about the girl playing Betty but all the other voices are amazing, so minor niggles aside it’s a great recording.

I didn't see the show and was taken aback a bit at first by the voice of the actress playing Betty on the recording as it is a different take and voice than usually plays her but in the end I really liked the fact it isn't the usual shrill voice you get.

Too Much In Love To Care had always been my least favorite song in the score, but the edits, to me, have vastly improved it, especially the ending with them returning it to the Sydmonton Workshop version with them harmonizing softly
