Would be great, but that's already pinned for Drury Lane  So are they assuming Hercules would be mid and are just hoping to recoup SOME of the development cost or what's going on with that? Disney usually doesn't do intended limited runs. I suspect they are thinking the Newsies route and eventually put it out for licensing. Its also been announced as the main show for one of the upcoming new disney cruise ships. Disney shows also historically (aside lion king) don't run that long in London (compared to broadway). Hercules definitely has quite a large fanbase and could likely sustain a year run if word of mouth is good. If it proves a hit they can tour it, take it to broadway or tour America. Or just put it out for licensing. |

Mr B. has said that they don't have much faith in it and the hurried nature of the announcement suggested indecisiveness so I assume this is just a stopgap to allow The Greatest Showman time to get itself together. |

August is mostly a very quiet month, theatre seems to go to the coast with their bucket and spade. September I notice a flurry of announcements for 2025 generally.
So next week then.

I am - cautiously - excited for the Almeida's Christmas show. I don't know why, but all the rumours about the Florence Gatsby transfer (the original creative team being ditched, for example) have made me think it may return to Frecknall and the Almeida - although I'm fairly sure someone on here suggested it would be straight to West End.
In any case, after a slightly mid choice in Cold War last year, it would be thrilling to see something as good as Tammy Faye/Streetcar, Spring Awakening etc. back there.

Wouldn't be surprised if a smaller fringe show had a go, something that can turn up, pack up, and leave.
I think we'll find out tomorrow anyways, if the announcement comes.

I would love to see this production live, but I reckon sohoplace would want a musical for the Christmas season to sell tickets. |

JFOD was mentioned elsewhere as a possible candidate for the Shaftesbury, makes sense as the run in Toronto is January-March so enough time to transfer the cast and set back to London for a May-June open.
