The Mole was INCREDIBLE. It was my favourite show back in the day. They did 2 UK series but then they also did about 5 or 6 in the US too. The Netflix refresh was as good and I hope it comes back.
I watched the first 2 eps of The Traitors when it launched and gave up because it was just a load of people shouting and running around. I then went back to it this weekend and watched it in 3 days. Then I met most of them at the Six media night this week!

Absolutely loved the Claudia one, I'm about to finish the Australian one (which isn't as good), and I'll start the US one and The Mole this weekend! Slightly scared all this treachery is going to make me start to deeply mistrust everybody in my life... 🤣

Absolutely loved the Claudia one Yes loved that too and will watch the US one when it's on BBC1 Just hope it doesn't disappoint, although Alan Cumming should be good and i understand it's a mix of public and 'celebrity' though probably won't know the difference!

The Beeb have allegedly acquired the rights to the Aus version too so I suspect that’ll pop up on iPlayer before long!

For people who like The Mole, the 23rd season of the Dutch version (which many consider to be the definitive version) is broadcasting right now. Fans are subtitling it in English each week within a few days of broadcast. It's very watchable, even with subtitles. The channel where you can find this has been running for nearly 10 years now, and I believe is known by the Dutch producers, so I hope it's okay to share here: www.youtube.com/@widmenglishsubs/videosThe first episode of the new series is up and I plan to watch it this weekend. Hope this may be of interest to others.

Watched the first US episode (only one showing up on Sky ATM despite all being on iplayer 🤔.) All the elements are there: location, setup, the wicker man challenge, even the clock striking twelve footage, but it just wasn’t quite the same.
Not seen much of them yet, but the contestants all seem too similar, the cynic in me thinks they’ve mostly been chosen for their looks. Not too keen on Alan Cumming as host either, covered in tartan and rrrrrolling his rrrrrrs like his life depended on it. Too arch, whereas I think Claudia really nailed the tone. It was entertaining, and I’m going to carry on with it, but so far it’s just making me appreciate the UK one more.
The only real difference is that they go upstairs at the end of the day, where our lot went out the front door. Wonder why they’d make that change?

I do want to find out the logistics of how they got the traitors out every night. If they are all sleeping in the same building it runs the risk of anyone hearing or seeing movement, if a car behind you suddenly disappears. I was hoping for a reunion show with some BTS content.

American programmes can get away with a lot more in the name of 'structured reality' e.g. they may be allowed to lie and insinuate everyone sleeps in the castle, whereas the beeb can't be misleading or suggest something is happening if it isn't - I imagine the contestants actually slept offsite in hotels (it's filmed just outside Inverness) but it's more dramatic to suggest they're all sleeping in close quarters in a spooky castle.

The BBC version didn’t have the buried alive challenge that we see in episode 2 of the US one did it? That freaked me out, and the thought of volunteering for that without knowing what was going to happen… 🤯
Alan Cumming is camping it up to the absolute max, aided and abetted by the costume department. I’m enjoying it.

My only negative about the BBC one was how they did the murder reveals. Showing them reading a letter sitting in a comfy chair after presumably just being told by a producer off-screen took the drama out of it. They should've shown the possible victims laying in their beds and then maybe the chosen victim's lights turning red and playing a scream sound or something.... the rest of the show is so theatrical and dramatic, the murder reveals are the only things that fall short for me.

Binged the US version over the last couple of days. I thought it was just as good as the U.K. one, and the fact that some of the cast were from US reality shows didn’t really affect me. Some great characters and a very tense and completely satisfying ending.

Episode 3 is where this really picks up. Definitely more over the top than the UK version and the addition of the reality show people that think they're bigger than they are was frustrating at first.
Alan Cumming's character is fun, groundskeeper Willy is a bit unnecessary.
Overall enjoying it so far and think its different but not ruining a really entertaining format.

Enjoyed the US version and also the Australian - but I found the Australian took a bit of getting into. Alan Cumming was a hoot in the US version, shamelessly camping it up to high heaven and being a great all-round presence. Loved his description of himself as “a less butch Agatha Christie”.

That opening sequence with the phone in an empty room was very compelling! I’m only sorry it’s dropping weekly instead of the whole thing being there to binge on so I may leave it for a few weeks and watch some earlier seasons. I do love listening to people speaking Dutch too. It’s a very satisfying language. Wie is de Mol??

Just finished the UK version WHAT AN ENDING!
I think overall the US version was much slicker and had better eye candy (Ryan and Arie in particular), but the UK version was far more entertaining.
I HATED the music in the UK version and I nearly turned it off after the first 2 eps as it was like watching 20 Catherine Tate chacracters.
Once they became actual human beings it was excellent.
I still think the show fails a bit with the tasks not ever really revealing anything about anyone, so making them look like idiots for the first 5 or 6 eps because they can't pick anyone is a bit stupid.
I also don't know why they have to be 'mudered', seems a bit over the top and 'icky' to me.
Onto Oz now!

I enjoyed the US version just as much as the UK. Different styles, but just as compelling.

I've now done the US and AUS, and for me the British outranked them both. Ours felt like real people, and captured the sense of gothic intrigue far better than the others.
