In the Blood Brothers-fandom there are people saying they have sources in the West End saying Blood Brothers will make a return ahead of its 40th Anniversary, but I just can't see it happening.
As much as I love the show, I can't see it doing well enough.

Beetlejuice or mean girls?? It's not a theatre built for big musicals like that - very limited wing space and backstage.

Maybe a return for Mel C but make more of a fanfare about it this time?

I think if Blood Brothers was given the Les Mis 25th treatment (in a positive way) and a top singer and actress was cast as Mrs J then it could work. No idea who could sing and act it and be a ticket seller though (please not sheridan smith). Maybe if it was a new refreshed production that would be enough to sell it, then have a top West end actress as Mrs J

Lyn Paul would be great.

Yes, Lyn Paul (73) portraying Mrs. Johnstone (aged 25 at the top the show) is exactly the kind of fresh blood the Phoenix Theatre needs. I'd be tempted, but would only book if Sean Jones (51) and Mark Hutchinson (60) play seven year old twins. It wouldn't be the same either, without 52 year old Danny Taylor on board playing Sammy (who is ten). Ideally they could bring back Marti Pellow, add 75% more reverb and upgrade to a state of the art 1984 Roland TR-909 drum machine. This is the kind of ambition and innovation the West End needs.

I know she gets a mixed reception on here but Sheridan Smith would be damn good. She'd probably only agree to do it though if the production was revamped and not just a rehash of the very tired tour.

Having seen Linzi Hateley as Mrs J, I would book to see her reprise the role. I thought she was brilliant in the role.

It would be great if we finally got an actress who had to age up for the later scenes rather than the usual unconvincing reverse. Anybody that doesn’t look comfortable in Mrs J’s American tan tights would be a casting coup!

Having seen it on a school trip at the Phoenix at the age of about 14 in the early 90s, I’d love to go again (and yes we all laughed like silly schoolboys during the doughnut bit!)
Personally I’d want to see Mel C as Mrs J, as I missed out on seeing her during her previous run.

Those things go for a pretty penny these days. Billy Ken will overjoyed to hear that Behringer do a knock off at a very affordable price though.

They always seemed to tone the drums down on tour (which is where I’ve seen it most), so I was surprised (and delighted!) when they really let rip the first time I saw it at the Phoenix!

No one has suggested The Cher Show.Is this a "no go"? It has tour dates until the end of March so the Phoenix would be dark for a fair few months if that happened.
