About 80 mins. I really disliked this. The new configuration of the Almeida and conveyor belt (think a more interesting The Trial) make an interesting set but it is a gimmick to distract from a poorly written play with good intentions.
Frankie Fox deserves better roles than this. I felt any subtle characteristics his Liam had must have come from Fox as Leo Butler's play is too busy and pointless to create such a character.
Ultimately I just didn't care about Liam or his world. Others will find it outright alienating, others patronising but I think beyond its design it has very little to say.

Yes, I just got an email saying send the ticket back (it came flying out of that convenient but overexcited ticket machine), which has cost me 64p but it definitely works if you haven't printed the ticket yet.

Can I plug my blog post about this? viewfromthecheapseat.com/2016/04/16/cyprus-avenue-royal-court-upstairs-16-april/ I thought it was incredible and whilst there is violence I am not sure I would describe the gore as gory, just symbolic gore. The noises seemed really intense due to small space. I would recommend second row, Jean but I pushed my way to front and got full Rea loveliness. With or without Rea it is an incredible play but I can't imagine any other actor pulling off the part of Eric with such class. There was a lovely bit of Saturday, where Rea got his lines mixed up and as he was re-saying had the most, lovely kind smile and it made me love him even more. The character is an utterly vile man, racist, homophobic, sexist but Rea never plays him as a stereotype and despite being a short play I am amazed a 69 year old man can do that every evening (and matinee). My friend, who wasn't familiar with him, is now a huge fan after seeing this.

I always recommend collecting because I buy cheap seats and if a show isn't selling well you are more likely to get upgraded when you collect and a saucy wink if the Garrick is anything to go by.

Did anyone get emails about tonight's cancellation, box office claim they sent out emails to everyone swing it tonight. Judging by the amount of people in theatre they were trying to fob off with comps to wonderland.. I doubt they did... Email is the quickest way of informing people but judging by the age of some audience members I'd be amazed if they know what a computer is, let alone email.

Hello, Hope you don't mind me bumping this. I write for London Theatre Direct but have also started my own blog, Life in the Cheap Seat for all the stuff that isn't good enough for a professional website!

Cheers, the email they sent made no mention of a refund so I thought it was basically like it or lump it - I've just phoned and got a refund. I'm guessing Tim Roth is more bothered about his US career rather than Q&As and the like in the UK so I'm not expecting him to do something similar anytime soon (though to tell the truth he hasn't really done much of note apart from The Hateful Eight recently, I hope whatever he has decided to film is worth the effort) United Passions II - Sepp is back! I would pay to see this! To be fair to Tim he is filming in Glasgow filming 10 Rillington Place with Samantha Morton (I am not stalking him, I swear!), I suspect he thought he could be in London for a few days but the filming schedule sounds quite intense so I suspect this is about as much as he could do.

I will see you at Roth and Richard III McKellen, Marwood I like you assumed they would be all be gone when I remembered at 12 but I got centre block seats for both! Announced tonight that the Tim Roth Q&A will be by Skype, I think I'll probably give it a miss, it would cost me £6 (and an hour there and back by train) to take the ticket back tomorrow - why they wait until 48 hours before something to tell you someone isn't going to be there is just taking the piss to be honest. They are refunding rather than offering credit if you are cancelling because of lack of Roth (He was clearly promised in the brochure as making an actual appearance and they've known for weeks he would probably be via Skype) so definitely give them a call. I just got my £9.15 back.

Being at the TRH it is debatable they aren't dead in the water.
I am oddly more excited about this Faustus than the Jamie Lloyd one and not just because I find Oliver Ryan quite attractive.

I highly doubt prices will fall on the NT website but if a show isn't selling it could appear on the usual sites as discounted or complimentary.

I've been doing extra work as compensation for my failure to be a proper actress and the days are horrible. An extra comes in for a handful of days at the most, to do something like Holby/EastEnders would kill me after a month. 8am starts, maybe 6pm finishes on a good day. Theatre schedules are tough and anti-social but the hours are humane. I think you need to be a Nicole Kidman to come back to it when you get regular film and TV work because financially it seems difficult!
I forgot to add Kathy Burke to my list. More known as a director I am amazed she hasn't been convinced to come back to acting but it seems like she enjoys watching plays too much.

Would love to see actors like Tom Hardy, Idris Elba,Tim Roth, Gary Oldman and Christoph Waltz on the stage. They've all done it before but doing theatre when you are getting TV/film work. In one 12 week run you could do 2 films in that time is incredibly risky.

I imagine a lot of the sales were from people like me who had missed the NT run and booked as soon as the WE run was announced (via the NT) so they weren't paying £60+. I bet The Master Builder's £100+ sold terribly. It was still a hot ticket.
I don't doubt for a second £90 seats aren't selling well but they are probably going as day seats or to friends of people in the know and the the theatre is not remotely empty.
As I said there is a huge difference to giving away the odd seat to a connection and throwing seats at people on the usual comp websites.

Where are you being offered comps, Parsley? Aren't you in the industry? Just because a show isn't selling out large theatres, doesn't mean it isn't selling.
As a standard theatre attendee who buys her own tickets I have seen no such comps on the usual sites-particularly in comparison to other WE shows.

If the seat was a bit bigger (or my seat was a lot smaller!) I probably wouldn't be complaining, the sink in the one cubicle is a good and more hygienic idea but the nature of the seat means part of your bottom cheek is right on that raised, then lowered into a curve bit, so you feel like you are falling off! A friend recommended I just hover next time but that feels even more risky.
I felt like I was in a doll house's bathroom.

I was invited to Jersey Boys Trade night yesterday (I couldn't go sadly) but it seems to be okay. All 4 cast members have changed and yesterday was sort of the press night for them. I don't think they would go to such trouble if it was dying.

Also there are plenty of them! If NT or Old Vic had such toilets then it would make intervals a lot easier. I love ergonomics like this really, it reminds me of when I lived in halls of residence. It just made my bottom feel absolutely gigantic (okay, it is absolutely gigantic but still!)

I went to see this yesterday (see the toilet thread) and really enjoyed. The main gimmick is that a Palestinian based actress will appear live via Skype and on the first preview this didn't work and had to be pre-recorded but it is such a strong play that it doesn't really need such a gimmick, though I think it is an interesting way of getting past visa/Equity rules.
Six actors take on a variety of roles and screens tell us what year it is set but it becomes clear that overtime that in 68 years very little has changed for Palestians and Israelis. It feels disjointed and unfinished but it becomes clear that the situation in Israel is very disjointed and unfinished. I did question whether I needed to know more than the basics of the conflict but I never felt lost during the 1hr 45mins and it was very slick for a first preview in such a small space.
I mainly booked for the gorgeous Mateo Oxley, who I had only seen in Shock Treatment and not only does he get down to his pants but proves himself to be a very strong dramatic actor.

It had been a bit of a stressful long day and I did not need such a confusing, small toilet, to remind me how big my bottom was. There was no soap either.

I think that is the issue. At no point, publicly or privately, does Luce express anti-American views. He embraces his adoptive family and his culture. There is no resentment of being taken away. He just seems like a bored teenager!

This may turn into a bitter rant so I apologise in advance but I applied for the Affiliate Panel and heard absolutely nothing but looking at the nominations I am not sure the fringe is adequately represented by SOLT and eligible anyway?

So are they starting it earlier than advertised? I am of the belief everyone should be in their seat at least 30 minutes before but unless an email has gone out (plus letter and phone calls for the luddites) it will cause a lot of anger.

At the risk of turning this into the Daily Heil I had no idea James Norton was dating Jessie Buckley. I like her so technically I am fine with it but it should still be me!

I am glad Les Blancs has tightened up but even if it is suspected to be over 3 hours any theatre, particularly in Warcus's position where he is director and artistic director, should make the start time 7pm, especially if the assumption is most patrons work/live locally. It would also encourage post theatre dining in the local area. I don't really want a dinner at 10:30pm.
It is just indulgent and unfair to those in home counties that need to get their train back.
