I have been away so missed this awful news. So sad and remember seeing Chris in Miss Saigon. Such a tragic loss. R.I.P.

Ellie Leach from Corrie and Paralympic athlete Jody Cundy the next 2. Following a similar pattern to previous years. At least I have heard of at least half of them!

Matt Rawle would make a great Arnaud du Thil if this got revived... Yes remember Matt playing Martin Guerre in the original with Iain Glen as Arnaud. I saw it many times in it's various guises and loved it.

There are some really valid points about the show and others in general. Entertainment in general has altered so much over recent years both live and tv/ streaming. People's tastes and attention spans seems to have changed. This combined with post covid changes to behaviour/ cost of living / train strikes etc has put pressure on even what would have appeared before the most reliable of shows.

For me, this was a great way to spend and afternoon. I really enjoyed it when I went a while back. The 2 leads both came out then and were generous in signing and photos even though they had to go back for a meeting. A lovely theatre too.

All this considering I saw the first national tour of Newsies in LA a few years back and didn’t really take to it then at all! Well it just shows you doesn't it. Don't think you are insane at all. I remember when I lived nearer to London going to see the same show several weeks running.

Yes it would need to be something up and running as it's quite a tight timescale and obviously limited time. Not sure if anything festive would stand a chance?

she is an amazing actress having seen her in Gypsy and Sweeney. I expect her to make a great Dolly. I really don't think she would do it if she knew she couldn't pull it off.

This should do well I would think as with a soundtrack like the SAW catalogue you have so much material. For those wanting just a feelgood night out with great music( 80's my favourite era ) it will fill a gap. Tastes have changed and some people just want an uplifting night out where you can forget your problems and understand what is happening with songs you know. There is room for all types of entertainment and if it can fill a venue then all for the good in my opinion.

the legendary Petula Clark nearly 50 when she played the role. You are quite right Petula was 49 :Petula did not return to legitimate theatre until 1981, starring as Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music in the West End of London. Opening to positive reviews and what was then the largest advance sale in British theatre history, Clark—proclaimed by Maria Von Trapp herself as "the best Maria ever"—extended her initial six-month run to 13 to accommodate the huge demand for tickets[23][54] and receiving a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.

Which is exactly what this show does. Exactly. What most people want is pure unadulterated entertainment where they can forget their problems , relax and listen and watch great performers do their thing. A thin plot as has been said is ok as long as the performances and spectacle cover for it. I remember going with someone to Les Mis(one of my favourite shows) and they didn't have a clue what was going on which did spoil it for them. WE are all different and will want different things, but for musicals most of us what a great show which will make us forget and just marvel at what is on stage.

AS mentioned above cost is probably the primary concern together with the reduced tourist numbers in London compared to pre covid. I think it will take a few years to get back to anything like it was as with the cost of living implications/ mortgage rates etc , Theatre is one element that can be cut out.

Anyone else been randomly upgraded, bought 2 balcony seats through official london theatre and now been sent 2 stalls tickets by the theatre, worth £100 ish each. I paid £30, anyways just wondered if they’re moving people or if it’s an error ? We were upgraded also from our 2nd balcony seat to centre first balcony last night from a £29.50 to a £69.50 seat. Really enjoyed the performance and the theatre is lovely with a couple of minor glitches. Mike and Lucas came out and signed programmes etc afterwards though this was curtailed to a quick sign as they were seeing Tom Holland back in the theatre.

When I was at Brokeback Mountain last night Tom Holland and Zendaya where in the audience. Tom had a meeting with Mike Faist afterwards over an upcoming film project apparently. Mike and Lucas came put briefly to sign programmes before going back in to see Tom. They were both really lovely, polite and grateful for our comments.
