I'm aiming to see this soon, but a bit wary of going on my own and dancing! Don't be. You're in there with no one you know. Throw caution to the wind, sing out till your voice is hoarse and dance with reckless abandon! Whatever you choose to do, have fun!

I came across this on Twitter today which I actually though was quite lovely and I though the you might too.
This is some behind-the-scenes footage of the film.
I can't remember if I have previously seen this or not but either way, it's quite sweet.
Here is a publicity shot for the Wizard of Oz
And these for the Gale Farm in the Wizard of Oz
Hope you enjoy

Just watched it. It was good,
Good to see some insights of being informed with the cast of Rent of Jonathan Larson's death and the reversal footage of Wicked.

I just don't know.
I have been a fan of Josh Groban for many years- Since the Ally McBeal days, and whilst I'v no doubt that he can sing it, in my opinion, he's just too young.

I remember catching a matinee of this show with some friends, as one of them had a cousin vising from El-Salvador.
I remember that we all purchased half-priced tickets on my recommendation and that we went in knowing nothing about the story or the music and that throughout the show we all laughed and at the end really enjoyed it
Both leads were excellent and the predicament Gilbert (Reece Sheershmith) found himself in with the pig in the second act was hysterical!
We enjoyed it so much so that when she returned to El-Salador she trouble explaining the show in running order to her father and the relevance of the pig.

Just as Frank asks "Do you think it was wrong of me to split Eddie's brain in two?" I ask the following "Is it wrong that I know every word of The Rocky Picture Show- book and lyrics?"

I'm drifting away from ALW.
I once saw Michael Ball being interviewed who, having been in the shows of both, correctly stated "If you want a broad sweeping score, go for ALW. However if you want a wordy cerebral piece, then go for Sondheim"
If you break it down, ALW only writes six or seven tunes which he repeats in various guises throughout.
Don't get me wrong, I think his shows are great; Evita, Aspects of Love and Sunset being his best. Regardless of what you thought of Madonna- I thought that (and still do) think the Evita film is great!
Joseph was (and still is ) colourful and fun.
Unfortunately I found Love Never Dies just an opportunity to cash in on the success of The Phamtom of the Opera.
I never got to see The Beautiful Game or Bad Cinderella. I do have the cast recording of The Beautiful Game.
I also like Whistle Down the Wind. I got to catch a matinee of that as a tourist before moving here.
I also caught Stephen Ward but (in truth) was a bit non-plussed.
For me, both Cats and Starlight Express are very clever and (with the exception of the lyrics Freight is Great) an league of their own.
The other thing about ALW is that he has this knack of making unusual casting choices, quite random the usually work.

The youtube algorithm offered me a documentary from the early eighties of Leonard Bernstein conducting West Side Story with Jose Carreras and Kiri Te Kanawa. It was fascinating to see the man himself directing the orchestra and the cast. Of course both leads were decades too old for it but oh my, Jose Carreras singing as Tony was stunning. Kiri was ok but apart from being too old actually sounded too old too, or maybe too ‘womanly’ for Maria. Then I went and listened to it again on Spotify. The album sold massively at the time apparently. I've seen this

There's a lovely bonus track of Banderas singing What I Did For Love with Nine co-star Laura Benanti It does sound lush and beautiful and nice to hear Benanti singing in Spanish. Shame I don't speak Spanish!

I always thought The Breakfast Club would make a good musical.
Only 5 characters, each with a backstory- both personal and the reasons they each had been issued detention.
Could be a few solo, duets or group numbers, Minimal (if any) costume changes, a set -the library- on a revolve, accommodating the hallways the run down and the Principals office.
It could work.

The irony is that a lot of the teenage fan girls dressing up and attending weren't even born when the film was released.
In fact, most of them have probable never seen it.

It's a great song! And if memory serves me correctly, both this song and Pauline Collins were nominated or Oscars.
In fact the score for the movie- all of the Greek underscoring, etc was by both Will Russell and George Hatzinassios.
I have the soundtrack.

You know, up until recently, I knew nothing about this show- the story or the music.
However a little while back the British Film Industry (BFI) at Southbank had a musical season so I went and saw it so that if and when Hedwig does arrive I had some concept about what it's about.

I wonder, once both the films have long been released 'and the cheers and the ballyhoo' have died down if, in 15 years or so if this will get a cult following and they'll be interactive Halloween or midnight screening, like The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Imagine it. Lots of Glinda's, Elphabah's, Fiyero, Nesserose's, Dr Dillamond's, Mdme Morroble's, Chistery's and Wizards running around.

I so enjoyed this musical and got to see it several times during its shortish run. I remember meeting Sarah Lancashire at one of the famous Dress Circle CD signings and she said she believed the show would have another life at some point. I do hope that is true. I too was at that CD signing and had photographs taken with the cast. The cast recording is still on my i-Tunes and every now and then a song will come up on random play and I'm transported back to theatre, watching the matinee with some friends.

The stage musical Betty Blue Eyes with Sarah Lancashire and Reece Sheersmith from about 10 years ago.
A cracking production.
Does anyone know if this was professionally filmed at all.
I know that most West End shows are professionally filmed- even for prosperity's sake and (I believe) it was a Cameron Mackintosh production, so I'd find it hard to believe that it wasn't.
Anyone know anything?
