could anyone who's going potentially do me a huge favour? If I do go, I could help out. I plan on going. However as I have some things to do in the afternoon, I will only be there to do what I have to before leaving. I should add, if anyone sees me, feel free to say hello. Depends on what it is?

I’m think of going, so for any folk who have been previously, what sort of time is it best to get there if doors open at 10am? Are we talking crazy queues for this? Thanks for any info. A large, long queue- however not as long as West End Live. Be prepared for a lot of tourist and others asking "What's gong on?" and "What's the queue/What are you queueing for?" Be prepared also for several well built guys- some with back hair- dragged up as Madme. Twinky. Also a lot of stagey youth; alas some are pretentious!

Try the National Theatre shop.
Usually, whatever play is currently running, regardless of which theatre- if it'd been published, it will be displayed.

Personally, I think this is great show.
Not just because if the story, or the music or the fact that it was written by Willy Russell.
I think it's a great piece because it knows what sort of show it is. It works on so many levels and doesn't overcomplicate things.
I also think that it's simplicity is a great way to ease newcomers into theatre, specifically musical theatre.
I took my parents to see it when they were visiting at it's home in London, The Phoenix Theatre about a year before it ended and to this day my father, who rarely goes to the theatre, still tells anyone who will listen to him as to how great it was.
It's deep rooted in the North and I remember reading somewhere at the time of development that Willy Russell's only request was that the Liverpool accent was used by all actors on stage.
It has run for many years up and down the country and I predict it will continue to do so for many years to come.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why it has taken so long for this to be (finally) released?
Whilst I appreciate that it will be streaming, does anyone know if there will be a DVD/Blu-Ray release in the future?

Sounds like there could be quite a number of us there, which is exciting!
Just to give everyone advance warning- I am absolutely rubbish (and I really can’t stress this enough) at remembering names.
I’m great with faces, just not names.
So, with a profile name to remember and your actual name, there’s very little chance I’m afraid. I’m apologising in advance!
It’s gonna be embarrassing!

I follow Theatre Fan on social media and to be fair, most of his predictions are accurate.
I have even met him on more that one occasion.
However last week, or the week before, he broke to announcement about a project which I was aware of and had posted on my Facebook back in August last year!

Happy to switch to the BFI from the start if you think better anthony40 No, no clarefh, as stated in my post, I am happy with the location. I live in London so getting there is no problem for me. I was merely presenting a back-up plan, a 'Plan B' is all.

May I make a suggestion?
The venue selected- the Queen Elizabeth Hall at RFH- is fine for me however, in the event that there is something on and we can't get in, may I suggest the British Film Institute (BFI) bar.
There are comfy sofas and the opportunity to talk without too much noise, like at a pub, or load music playing.
There is a bar area serving alcohol, cocktails, tea and coffee.
It's literally right next door to the Royal Festival Hall, sitting between the National Theatre on the other side.
Again, just thought and potential should things go pear shaped.

A real deep dive on Tim I remember is a South Bank Show episode from around Christmas 1985 when he talked about his career to date then and how the idea of Evita came from listening to a radio programme about Eva Peron when he was driving somewhere. He also confessed to being a frustrated rock'n'roller and performed a song accompanied by Hank Marvin on guitar. I have heard this too. A little side note, a couple of years back when there was the Bonnie & Clyde concert on at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane with Jeremy Jordan, Tim Rice and a much younger female- possibly his daughter or a relative was sitting about three rows in front of me and he was openly admitting that he no idea about this show or any of the actors in it.

For someone who was not there, did he discuss the 'yearning song'?
I once saw a television documentary where they were interviewing songwriters and lyricists and when interviewing Tim Rice he explained that writing for musical theatre was in a different league and there a method to it whereby about two or songs into the show the protagonist sings a song where there true intentions are revealed to the audience via the 'yearning song' which moves the story forward.
So, in The Little Mermaid, it's Part Of Your World; in Beauty & The Beast, it's the reprise of Belle, etc

They do need to do something about stage door, particularly for younger audience fanperson attracting shows as this issue comes up time and time again. (Personally I’ve literally never seen the appeal but appreciate a lot of young fans seem to love it. The boundaries inevitably get blurred though for the problematic minority….) This all started with Wicked didn't it? Or was it Rent? The "Rent-heads"? Did the internet engender these sort of cultish show fanbases, even pre-social media? Hmm, partially. There are general autograph hunters, or this who want a poster of image of the said celebrity, or even a piece of merchandise that they wat signed to flog at a heavily inflated price on websites such as eBay etc.

I guess it depends on the performer / star / person whether they enjoy the stage door experience. Personally, I find it all a bit odd - job done, time to go home, off for a bite to eat etc. But then I've always tended to compartmentalise things. Many thrive on the adulation, whether on stage or in the audience. In the end, it comes down to respect and boundaries. As for monetising it? Hmmm... "I bought you so let me now have my pound of flesh..." Ewww. I get it but don't forget that a lot of performers have egos that are swollen and insecurities that need to be stroked. They thrive on the affirmation, adulation and praise.

Broadway did it as a musical, and it is on my top 10 worst stage experiences ever. It was awful. Vampires rarely work onstage. Yes, I believe that was the case. I remember reading something about it at the time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the music by Sir Elton John?

I have staged door a couple of times, mostly for plays.
Depends to the 'star' quality or popularity of the performers, there is usually some form of security and barriers.
If you're well behaved, polite, courteous and not overly pushy there generally isn't a problem.
I've had a photograph taken with Ellen Greene, Matthew Broderick (I mean, he's Ferris Bueller!), Tracey Ullman, Helena Bonham-Carter, Stockard Chamming, Simon Bird, James Corden, and Jeremy Jordan, to name a few. Also a really bad one with Rebel Wilson and not so good one with Michael Crawford.
I remember there was a play some time back with Nicole Kidman. She staged doored in the blink of an eye and then whilst everyone was waiting at the back, exited the theatre through the front of the theatre to an awaiting black cab.
I believe Richard O'Brian did a similar thing the last time he was on stage performing as Riff Raff in a Rocky Horror tour in the West End.
