Ckockeirk Orange meets Frank Spencer with drum & bass Extreme Regietheatre That sounds great. Is it a same sex couple? Mercutio gender swap only but that's an interesting thought

Some very impressive vocal performances SD Clarke and Cornell S John ( both have great vocal control). The music & lyrics work well together but by then Cy Coleman was a seasoned pro. An enjoyable production considering the space constrictions and cast size. Considering the dross that's been milling around lately just the tonic that was needed to right the imbalance. The Girls next but I fear the green Barlow will be in Cy's shadow on the musical level.

On leaving,at the end of the show, I just felt Sheena E was not a right fit for this show, may be she is still mourning for the Purple one. A more seasoned performer on the boards may have provided a more convincing performance.

Saw it this afternoon. Unless "Angels In America" pulls something out of the bag, Conleth Hill's Olivier is already engraved, and probably Staunton's too. Love to see Poots and Treadaway in contention as well. Opinion on my site now, and I'm siding with the 5 star rave brigade on this one. Totally agree a fine performance by Mr Hill hopefully he will be rewarded.

Completed the pair, with "Much Ado" on Saturday afternoon. It's the stronger of the two, as everyone says, but I think you need to see the pair for the full effect. Deliberate or faked? After the Tree scene, where Benedick comes downstage centre and blows talc into the audience: on Saturday he first dropped a mix of spit and talc onto some poor chump in the front row. Then he appeared to inhale some of the dust and couldn't speak, standing there with his pop-eyed gurn as the audience started laughing. He silenced us with a hand gesture, took a swig of sherry, rolled it around his mouth, paused, then went on with the show. Dunno, from the gurn onwards felt like one of those "fake going wrong" moments to me. Was it? I can't remember exactly but he did something similar when I saw it the weekend before last, maybe just somehthing he throws in every now and again. I will second that I saw it during Xmas and the same thing happened as above. It may have initially been a faux pas that received just a strong audience reaction, he chose to put it in from time to time.

Is Amber scheduled to continue with the show over the festive period or will the alternates be on? I believe it's the same schedule as usual - Amber plays the part for every show apart the Wednesday evening when the alternate is on. Has Ruth Brown been on yet? All I've heard of is Karen being on in place of Amber which leads me to believe she is the main alternate? Thanks, I don't know. I have not actually seen the show as yet hoping to see it over the festive period

Goddams (Play Pun) Revolve but needed it to prevent watching actors backs. Finished @ 22.19 with that rare thing these days an interval. It had its moments but never really hit the stratosphere. Standouts Levey,Keenan & Stone-Fewings but Gemma Arterton lacked a certain je ne sais quoi ( preview aside ) I just didn't see the depth of emotion I would expect from this protagonist.

When I last purchased tickets from their web site (circa 2014) there was no booking or transaction fee the only charge was the standard charge from your credit card company( depending on their own individual rates exchange/foreign transaction charge etc) for using a sterling credit card to make a purchase aboard.
Also, I'm not sure if this still applies may be the web site has been updated but unlike other European Theatres/Houses I couldn't select my own seats only the number of seats within a certain price category so if you have a preference to be at the end, in the middle of a row of seats or as far forward as possible that was not possible. However like i previously said may be that has changed now.

ALW has lost his Mojo were it comes to scores these days, differently a candidate for one of his weakest, the stark realisation is that he probably needed help with this (pride dented) from a Now/Today modern musical composer. Yes the kids were talented but that's the world these days it is just unfortunate they had to work with that material.

Ahead of the the recent Globe production but slightly on the long side. However I thought the gender switch for Cymbeline worked well and the cast were strong cross the board.

It's a shame I gave up 90 mins of my existence for this, a pseudo Beckett play that the great Rylance could not even save. But the name sells this play which was evident from the full-ish house

Just dire, erratum very dire historical evidence may have suggested Mozart was at times vulgar and adolescent but why was Gillien's portrayal so exaggerated with childishness (voice included). It was so over the top bordering on the farcical. Msamati's Salieri lacked pathos probably hindered by the bizarre staging

Yes its fictional but it makes you wonder what might have been said. All leads were commendable with their performances and Arinze Kene singing , well the guy can hold a tune. A thoroughly entertaining piece of theatre I think the critics got it right with this one.

Certainly, not Bintley's best work, even though all the variation pieces are in Act 2 I actually preferred Act 1 particularly the Pas de deux between Ferdinand and Miranda. My biggest disappointment was the score it just didn't click for me. Wheeldon's The winter's tale is more even.

Often ridiculed for being a pantomime ballet but from last nights performance this ballet is screaming out for youthful technically gifted leads and that's what you got is the form of Francesca Hayward and Marcelino Sambé.
A truly sublime performance from a well matched pairing. Frederick Ashton would have been more than pleased.

First surprise of the evening was this piece was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize followed by an animated canine with the subject matter at hand. Consequentially, it stands to reason i found this mediocre at best. It's shame a saw Flick at the NT on the basis it was also nominated for a Pulitzer prize and found it highly entertaining. 2 stars

Drug factories & paraphernalia, streetwise crews strutting the boards clad in Adidas and equivalents. Urban/street dancing (Diversity crew kind) to high beats per minute bass rhythms coupled with the old bit of reggae to accompany the cannabis farm. Cirque du Soleil type rigging, lights & smoke queue Imogen.
On walking out at the end of the show I looked up at the building just to check it was actually The Globe I had visited, but I enjoyed it more so than the recent Macbeth & The Taming of the Shrew.

With cloud space readily available & abundant now for all booking/queued procedures what ever excuse The Almeida Box office provide for this situation will no longer wash. They meed to drop the exceptional demand nonsense & just deal with the problem otherwise the true issue is a economical one. Why don't they just own up.

The comedy is a given with this considering the film, but I felt this under performed on the music & songs. In fact, with the repetition of some songs to fall in line with the story your work is slightly reduced so the quality needed to be of a very high standard to negate boredom. The need to hear a delightful melody over & over. Carlyss Peer was not even close to being Andy Karl's equal. Miscast maybe, it's a shame Made in Dagenham is no longer around I think she would have found her niche. To do well on Broadway they need a heavy weight Rita & some re composition.

First Act slightly ponderous in the beginning but builds up a head of stream by the close/interval so ends well. The second act felt flat and tiresome so probably needs strategic pruning. The light-hearted comedy provide by Richard Goulding improved things but the audible SMS text character didn't work for me. The night ended with more negatives than positives.

This Musical should help with those suffering from insomnia. I started looking at my watch 20 mins in, State Fair may be considered a lesser of a Rogers & Ham musical compared to the other heavy weights. Well, for me, it's above this one & I saw that last at the Finborough Theatre . I don't think its the cast or the production just the musical. However i am in agreement with above posts that The Gentleman is a dope is probably the outstanding number in this musical.

'I was dreading "Gethsemane", and while his long note was as unimpressive as I feared, his intensity throughout the rest of the song made up for it. Combined with stunning lighting it made it a highlight of the show (as it should be).
The rest of the cast were great, although I wasn't sold on some of the choreography (especially the woman having a fit during "The Arrest"). And if I didn't know better I'd say Caiaphas was played by Grace Jones!
Best line of the evening came during a chat behind me at the start of the interval:
Christopher Biggins: "I'd forgotten what a terribly good lyricist you are"
Tim Rice: "I hadn't"[/quote]
The Gethsemane highlighted the concert feel for me, it's Jedus's Hamlet moment and he is standing in front of a stand/floor mic strumming a guitar not the emotive scene I've seen in the past.

felt much like a concert version with floor and hand mics being used, McOnie"s choreography solidified this making the experience as if watching a boy band ( take your pick Westkife, Take That ) with backing dancers. So I guess actors were not really needed.Improved in the second half by acting the narrative but seemed a bit too late. It a shame the cast are talented just the director decided obviously to go this way.

Not seen the show for some years, in fact the last time Craig Mather was Marius and during the interim he has left & come back. Simon Bowman had his critics with his JVJ (me included) but Peter Lockyer is not even at Bowman's level which is not particularly high. Who is the Understudy for him? Joining PL is Chris Cowley a weak Enjolras and a completely unconvincing leader. The positives R Ann Go & E Noblezada both are a joy to listen to displaying radiant smooth voices - the highlight of the show for me. I also liked the the person that played the Bishop of Digne who came across vocally strong. The ensemble seemed strong.
