I know this may be a silly question, but...
I have never booked theatre tickets for anything abroad before, but want to book some tickets for an opera at the Opers National de Paris, Badtille when the next part of the season goes on sale on Friday. How does this work? Are there extra charges with it being abroad?

I've only ever booked for two foreign theatres - Paris Opera Ballet at the Bastille and the Abbey in Dublin - and in both cases it was straightforward online booking and I don't recall there being any extra charges.
I've just been to the Garnier to see Eliogabalio (not sure if it's still playing though). Found the booking to be just like anything you'd book in london- their english site (the official paris opera booking site) is great, I just found the earlier you book the more cheap seats are left (obviously), and at least at the Garnier- the view from the god's is amazing. Don't remmeber any extra fees or anything like that (I'm from Israel).
I book tickets to shows across Europe quite frequently and there are no problems. Often sites have an English option and where not they are usually quite obvious. My only issue is that for some sites seat selection does not work so well on mobile devices (which can be useful when travelling). I'm off to Opera Bastille 3 weeks today.
When I last purchased tickets from their web site (circa 2014) there was no booking or transaction fee the only charge was the standard charge from your credit card company( depending on their own individual rates exchange/foreign transaction charge etc) for using a sterling credit card to make a purchase aboard.
Also, I'm not sure if this still applies may be the web site has been updated but unlike other European Theatres/Houses I couldn't select my own seats only the number of seats within a certain price category so if you have a preference to be at the end, in the middle of a row of seats or as far forward as possible that was not possible. However like i previously said may be that has changed now.
