Does anyone have and predictions or hopes for the feature film?
I had some ideas...
~ Cast an unknown for Kim as was the case when Lea and Eva were discovered. Preferably Vietnamese too...
~ cut the 'Maybe' section as it's not the strongest song and it doesn't advance the plot
~ use the live vocals technique of Les Miserables film to create a more theatrical feel

Having recently seen the London production I'm intrigued to know, how much of the show is actually sung live as from here I was sat it defiantly wasn't 100%? It's live as in there's no taped recording but for some songs there's off stage or on stage backing singers Also remember the microphones on stands are a prop and aren't turned on. They use the same hairline microphones as other shows

I will generally have a bit of a cry at most things really but recently, I did have a little tear and a half during 'Kinky Boots' when Charlie leaves the voicemail for Lola. But in all honesty, it may have been the gin. Or the excitement from the routine with the travelator. But probably the gin. How about in the finale when the kids come up and hug the dads? *wipes tear *

Well it's a bit of a blast isn't it. A very enjoyable night out and I'm even still able to hum several of the songs. Of the two leads I preferred Killian Donnelly, there were more bits where I enjoyed his performance and when he lets that voice of his go, it really does soar to goosebump effect. I thought Matt Henry was a bit pantomime in the first act, he was *so* much better in the second and so much better at the ballads than the uptempo numbers. Supporting cast are great and the angels are terrific. Amy Lennox is funny but I can imagine it's a very polarising performance, particularly as it's tick for tick almost identical to the one Sophie Thompson is giving across the road. Really liked Michael Hobbs as George too - best of the supporting cast for my money. I even teared up a bit when Charlie leaves his voicemail to Lola. Well worth a visit methinks. Oh and 'Funny Girl', *this* is how to use a travelator! :-) Was Killian strangely hot from the front row? I'm not huuuugely fond of Matt Henry's performance in this and don't quite get the hype. It's the kind of role that anyone doing it half well would get an Olivier nomination for I think and he'll probably bag the award too in part because it's a 'big' role.

I'll confess that I cry a lot at the theatre and it doesn't take much for me to start bawling. No shame What moments drew a tear to your eye, either of joy or sadness? Some ones that come to mind for me are: - The Movie in My Mind, Kim's Nightmare and Sun and Moon reprise in Miss Saigon - The ending of Matilda - The Letter in Billy Elliott - Roses at the Station in Grand Hotel - Several moments in Les Mis, especially the moment where the Bishop gives JVJ the candles, the death of Gavroche and 'A Little Fall of Rain' - I'll Cover You reprise in Rent - Climb Evry Mountain in Sound of Music - Grandmother funeral sequence in In the Heights - As Long as He Needs Me in Oliver

I had a quick look at ticket availability on the booking website. This show is selling shockingly badly ! On some dates there's about 80%+ of the theatre unsold

I don't think anyone would have blamed her if she'd just withdraw from Twitter and had her managers tell people to leave her alone. She doesn't owe anyone anything.

I really liked Willy Wonka disappearing at the end of Charlie! Very unexpected so worked really well! If I remember correctly it's the same as Elphaba disappearing in wicked?

Daniel, Is it coming to the West Country?? Loved the show but hated the dvd of the Broadway production - Huey was creepy!! I agree!! The London cast was so much better! I find the Broadway production hard to watch in comparison

Shame there was no Best Actor Oliver nod for Sam Mackay, thought he deserved to be there. I agree he's a hugely likeable and sympathetic Usnavi. I think I prefer his performance to Lin Manuel

I don't think the relative lack of success needs such a deep analysis. Non jukebox British musicals simply don't do very well these days and this one didn't have particularly good songs or anything particularly witty or charming. It was also quite cheesy in parts with some of the staging. It did as well as it deserved, despite a lot of people hoping it would do really well

Elphaba flying....? I'm cant see past the safety strap, the billowing cloth and the forklift and the noisy shrieking. No, that did nothing for me.....for someone meant to be defying gravity it is one hell of a clumsy clunky effect. Levitation rather than flying. Sorry. Lord of the Rings had a great use of Pepper's Ghost that caught me by surprise. Shrieking and screaming one's guts out is the core of any Elphaba performance!

I'm still in shock that Eva Nobelzada didn't get a nomination last year She was as well...but it didn't help that everyone (well many fans/industry peeps) got her hopes up by telling her that she was going to get nommed and then it didn't happen....I almost think its better to assume that someone won't be and then be pleasantly surprised... She did well to get on stage and perform so well at the ceremony considering. I was nowhere near as mature at her age, I was mostly focused on getting drunk and going on the pull.

Does anyone know why Jon Jon didn't perform in the matinee on Saturday? His name was on the cast board, but they called back Christian Rey (who apparently had his last show on Feb 22th)...? He posted on twitter that he tried his best to make it but wasn't feeling well enough. I popped by about 2:40 and they'd put Christian on the board. Of all the performances in the final show I actually thought his was a little below his usual charisma and energy levels so perhaps he hadn't fully recovered

Why is In the heights considered a new musical, shouldn't it be a revival? It has never been done here before, and technically this production is the same as the Southwark production. So it's considered a transfer from Southwark to Kings Cross I guess?

Happy for Dan Burton in Gypsy. I don't really get the hype over David Bedella in In The Heights though, can think of several more deserving performances

Maybe and I believe from yesterday night have been uploaded on YT. Thanks for this - it really shows how on form the vocals were last night. It was an incredible performance.

Arts theatre. I'm glad it's gone. It was a perfectly fine touring version of Saigon, but it was a waste of one of our finest west end theatres. What do you reckon is the smallest Theatre this show could work in? It would be interesting to see the helicopter scene in the Arts theatre...

I saw this for the first time last week and thought it was a spectacular show. I have seen people say it's a stripped back version and moan about the sets/production but i can't see where they are coming from. I thought it was a visually stunning and spectacular show with great sets and set pieces. It seemed worthy of the stage/theatre to me. I hear that too but I thought the staging was one of the big highlights of the show and the entire Kim nightmare sequence is one of the most memorable theatre moments I've ever seen. Does anyone who saw the original know how the two versions compare?

At Miss Saigon last night there was a woman reading the entire script during the performance

I wonder if that's what the filming last month was about - getting additional footage to what they achieved on the Gala night to create a full "cinematic" performance? I'm not sure how this will really work, given the cast changes etc. I thought Cameron was a little unclear in his speech, and the cheering covered some of his message

Really impressed by the vocals tonight, even better than the past four times I've been. Chris Peluso has never sounded better, and I was really impressed with Sangwoong and Marsha too.
Eva and Jon Jon are incredible as always, they hold the show together.

What are your favourite special effects and tricks in musicals? I was wondering how they did the pigtails throwing scene in Matilda. Does anyone know?

Has Siobhan Dillon still not fully recovered? She said she's planning to be on tonight on Twitter Ah, interesting. It might be a shaky performance since Jon Jon is also under the weather

Interesting that Natalie Chua is playing Ellen today. I didn't realise they'd have an Asian as understudy

The final evening seats went to a group who arrived between 1am-2am and the final matinee seats went to a group who arrived at about 4am. Crazy! Now, the only option is to queue for returns. I arrived at half 2 and got a front row matinee seat, and have now managed to get a ticket for the evening from a lovely seller! Super excited for today!! Power nap is needed though! Congratulations, the system really rewards the most dedicated fans! are you going to both performances then?
