You clearly don’t work in theatre! Ok then, do you maybe have some more insight and information as to how some shows have to close for 10 days but these two shows (Anything Goes and Amelie) are able to just close for a couple days then? Not being rude I'm genuinely curious!

Well Anything Goes has only been down for 3 days and is set to come back tomorrow, and the isolation rules change on Monday, I have no doubt that they will do everything above board but I'm also not quite sure how its working. I'm assuming the cast are one "bubble" and backstage crew are another? So many it depends who gets it where and how they can cover it. How can backstage crew possibly be one bubble and the cast another? Do the crew all sit in the alley while the cast perform on stage and move the set around? They wear masks and stay 2m apart from the cast as much as possible and no close contact for a cumulative 15 minutes per person... not that hard.

Performances tonight and tomorrow cancelled in addition to the matinee cancellation announced earlier. I don't understand how they think they might be back on Tuesday. If the Heathers tour have had to cancel all next week's performances in Liverpool from one positive case, surely Amelie is out of action for all of next week too? Well Anything Goes has only been down for 3 days and is set to come back tomorrow, and the isolation rules change on Monday, I have no doubt that they will do everything above board but I'm also not quite sure how its working. Saw the show tonight, think Six mixed with Hamilton mixed with Mischief comedy, I guess?!
I am liking the trend of exploring the history of known famous people/events but the bits the public dont really know, not quite sure why it's been compared to singin' in the rain a few times, but I digress.
The show was tons of fun and has some fantastic performances, like a few above if it put my dramaturg hat on I think you could get it to be a little slicker, but the show finished a little after 10pm so I think that have been tightening it up. While the staging for the opening of act 2 was super fun I too was a bit aghast, perhaps it was my british prudishness coming out but it seemed a lot!
For a work in progress, it was in fantastic shape, and for anyone thinking of going I would certainly recommend, quite a bit of "rap" singing but it didn't grate on me like it did in Hamilton.

Yes I'm excited to see the gorgeous building!
Has anyone used the o2 priority on any of the LW theatres for the VIP lounge, any reviews on it?

Surprised that they have sold out such a large venue for a show I didnt think really had a UK cult following, but am very happy they have, hopefully this gives them more confidence to do more things like this, I wish the UK had a similar thing to Encores! where we got to hear more shows like this.
EDIT using the ?did=uktmbc trick there seem to be a handful of tickets left for each date so if anyone wants to grab one!

The reaction on Twitter to the news hasn’t been positive from the looks of it, the Vaudeville is not accessible which excludes a lot of people (I can’t say I’ve ever been) Gosh you're right, lots of people are very upset. Seeing that their access toilet isn't even in the building I can understand being annoyed at that and how that hasn't been sorted out sooner is bizarre and unacceptable. However people saying that they specifically chose a theatre that is inaccessible is just wrong and not really thinking something through. I do hope that they are able to make the building more accessible before opening, but at the same time people do have to realise A) London theatres are extremely old and protected Grade 2 listed, and B) its a business, this show is a cash cow but only in the right venue, and the Vaudeville is a perfect step up from the Arts but not too big like the Lyric at full capacity. I really don't think a producer is looking and the few potential theatres to transfer their show into and going "hmm but is it accessible? Our show is all about that!" Sadly not I think. But I am hopeful that they are able to try and fix some issues, perhaps a pass-door to the Adelphi?

Did anyone know where they put the todaytix rush seats by any chance? Were they a specific row or just a best available?

Apologies to my fellow ladies, but the Narrator's songs in 'Joseph' somehow sit more comfortably in a man's vocal range. Originally the narrator was male! Peter Reeves in the original west end cast, it wasn't until 1981 pre-broadway company that it was female.

Its a great book, I love it! Occasionally his admiration and almost romantic loyalty to Julie Taymour feels like it should be in a paperback book found in the corners of the library with two people near kissing, but the detail and narrative telling of how it all went down is absolutely fascinating! I always recommend it for someone who wants a deep dive into a show

Got mine! FromTheBoxOffice has an exclusive upgrade offer with some really good deals, unfortunately not on any matinees which I need, but the barbican website did have a smattering of dynamic pricing(?), so I got a rear stalls for £45 when other days it was £75. Im so excited to see Sutton!

Uh oh, someone didnt put out the press release before updating the socials..!
Bit conflicted since seeing Megan Mullaley was sure to be a rare treat, but Sutton was fantastic in this role so how fun for us to see her recreate her tony winning performace. But what are the logistics with Music Man?

I think Olly Alexander would be a brilliant Jack! I like this suggestion! Jack and Little Red I find are so difficult to cast because for me they sit in that sort of ageless "older child" range. I guess 12-14? But I wouldn't want to see a 13 year old do it like in the Disney movie.

Yay! I hope this is a landmark revival like Company, London seems to do rather well with a good revival, I think the Old Vic is a great theatre to do this show in. High hopes for this!

Wow recommended on YouTube 1961 and 2021 trailers Near identical blocking Thats so cool! Personally apart from some great cinematic shots I thought the teaser trailer was really odd to juxtapose action shots with this quiet music, WSS isn't a show for me but I think this will be a good adaptation, and considering some of the recent bad movie musicals im all for a good one!

I love the show, but a lot of the charm is seeing adults playing children but walking that line between realism and parody. I just know the movie will cast children and I really dont think that will work. I have a horrible feeling with it being branded as Disney, like into the woods, it will lose any edge it had and just become a terrible Disney Channel Original Movie that happens to be an adaptation.
I wouldnt really want a movie movie of this, a proshot sure but not a real movie, but a DISNEY branded movie? No thank you!

I thought the Lyric was due a refurb before GUSU goes in? Maybe the latter is being cancelled/delayed? I was under the impression it had already been refurbed before Six moved in It was partially refurbished, Im sure they've been able to do a bit more work since December but I know refurbs can take a long time so who knows how much more they were able t odd, especially under lockdown guidelines if they were even able to get workers in for Jan/Feb.

With the gutting of Les Mis and now Phantom, Cam Mac really got me out here defending these two shows..! Not my faves but I thought it was amazing that you could still see the original 80s productions that launched British musical theatre to be what it is today. A great shame that they didnt get a proper send off and that Cameron is going to try and tout that they are still the same. I agree a general tourist might not notice, but thats not the point. (Although the loss of the turntable could confuse non-thespies who discuss seeing it at different times..!)

It's better, but in my view unfortunate that the NIMAX system hasn't been adopted by more theatres while social distancing remains necessary. All unsold seats available to be selected, then instant revision after each booking. I certainly agree with you that Nimax's is the best by far, just saying that there is a slightly nicer way to book tickets for this show than the clunky Criterion website!

I think we have some good news to celebrate soon 🤞 Also updated their Twitter description to "Where do we go from here?". I personally think the previously mooted West End transfer to the Criterion is back on the cards x Ooh I hope that's true! Loved this production and the Criterion is absolutely the perfect venue for it

I mean it is raining in the scene prior so theres a link. Also I'm imagining its just a soft pathos of rain, enough for you to notice and be just the extra tug at your heartstrings. Also im a sucker for rain onstage, its just always one of the coolest effects you can do i think. real water raining down on actors??!! yeah!! ye Sound Department absolutely hate it though Oh you're right, sorry sound department..! thank you for working round it when big budget productions of singin in the rain come round!
