i walked past the London Palladium on the way back from work today and was reminded what a great venue this was, with shows like Joseph, Sister Act, Chiitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sound of Music, The King and I, Oliver and more recently Cats. So I was despondent that this once great legendary venue has been demoted to do end of the pier Pantomine if you please or one night only pop stars of yesteryear. What a shame that this famous venue the London Palladium has been ignored, perhaps something like Grey Garden would be fitting, especially the second half. With that cast its hardly end of the pier panto!

Jenny Seagrove as Reagan's mother, Tommy Steele as The Exorcist with a third rate Dorothy left over as Reagan, recycling the bed from Scrooge, the staircase from Evita and the backcloth from Blood Brothers. Probably. I was half right then.... Hate to say I told you so, so I won't. I'll just say I hate nepotistic casting.

They recently just extended the run to May though which made me presume it is doing quite well in terms of box office? I hope it doesn't close soon It's doing absolutely fine, won't be going anywhere for a while.

I'm not being funny, girl, but at least we can be sure it genuinely was down to technical issues.

I think this is fairly disappointing casting considering the hype and history of pantomime at the Palladium - O'Grady, Havers and Clary are panto regulars. I like the casting. But you can always go see John Barrowman, David Hasselhoff or Marti Pellow if you want other names. Shudder. None of them appeal. Surely you'd never get all of those names on the one bill ever though. If Paul O'Grady were to do panto it would be him headlining and no one else. Likewise with Julian Clary or Amanda (although not a fan). I don't get how some of us board members are snotty about it when it's a huge line up that befits the location and history. That said I haven't booked yet lolz...

I'd say there's a HUGE difference between the New Wimbledon and Palladium Panto audience, George22. You would be far too young to remember, but for entire generations, the Palladium WAS the annual panto event in literally millions of diaries around the country - and it could run to Easter at times. The current producers are cleverly cashing in on the nostalgia and it is working for them. The New Wimbledon is the big one outside the West End (along with Hackney Empire, now, perhaps) but it won't affect the Palladium audience one iota, unless they nab Beiber, Swift and Spears themselves, I'd say. Quite agree. They're clearly casting people that can do and get panto. Joan Collins was terrible when she did the hippodrome one years back. They've got a list of bankable performers, bigger than any other panto casts in the country. If the Wimbledon rumours are true the palladium will have nothing to worry about at all, if the lady in question signs on its going to be a case of 'who?' followed by 'oh....' followed by a queue at the palladium for tickets.

If it were (and it won't) they'd run it off the back of the current Broadway revival, not open it cold.

Why would they do that when they'd prefer people went to their FFE pantos instead? Well they did it at the Duke of York's last year. Some money is better than no money Yes, in a smaller venue with very low running costs where the show requires intimacy and proximity to the stage. They wouldn't waste a small show in a bigger venue.

That is an amazing trailer. Just goes to show how a show like KB on Broadway can continue to reinvent its marketing in clever, canny and current ways.

I doubt they'd cast someone with no stage experience and only 6 years younger than her fairy godmother... I do love June though. Bring back Popworld on Saturday mornings say I!

It's now August. They obviously are having HUGE casting issues with this. Why would they want to announce anything over the summer when the family market are away on holiday spending all their money and not wanting to think about the cold winter months? They've already got some good names and announced their headliners, no wonder they're keeping something up their skirts for the autumn to help at the box office. The "HUGE" casting issues you so calamitously suggest are with Wimbledon and Milton Keynes. Two of First Family's biggest panto venues and no headliners yet.

Does anyone know what the song played at the end of the play is? No idea but other than the TLC Waterfalls moment, it's all Billy Joel

How are any of you getting tickets? Yes, perhaps I should have booked when it went on sale but I love a bandwagon and I want to jump on this one, and not in 2017. I do the lottery every Friday and nothing.

Just out of interest George is it Funny Girl producers who have given you this inside knowledge? No a different producer I know quite well. I know 2 fairly well and it was 1 one of them 2. This is so laughable.... and so wrong...

Theatremonkey (or anyone else!), can you shed some light as to whether the show might actually be sold out? These days, agencies either do have allocations, or sacrifice those in return for "open access" to the entire availability... EXCEPT that they don't always get the open access as the theatre still holds some for themselves. By the look of it, next Thursday night could be a special event, as there is plenty in the upper circle, but stalls and dress are full. Thursday afternoon has seats at all prices. It's probably a media night/minor press night with invited guests now Rebel's had time to bed in a bit.

Told you news was imminent! Decision not to announce until the show surely to limit any pre-show gossip and camera. I expect a lot of paps will be legging it down to snap her leaving.
Really nice Natasha will get to perform still.

No way! My best mate and I always do the 'is it a bee' line whenever a mobile goes off in public.
Can you DM me who is missing?

Oh I will say, (spoiler alert) I was disappointed one of the regular guests didn't appear. Who was missing? I really liked it. Especially a few little idioms fans would laugh at (as I did) i.e. Gabon and Little Bitch Troll From Hell.

Very little, there'll just be a slightly modified staging and lighting and the lift goes higher. The show itself is as it is on tour.

I find it depends on the producers behind it. The West End run of Hairspray (and it's subsequent first tour) was amazing, whereas it's last outing was so scaled down and cheap it insulted the show. Likewise with Evita in the West End, whilst not my favourite show it looked great at the Adelphi but like Poundland on the road. Producers like Cameron don't stint on throwing money on touring sets and keeping production values, but that's a rare thing sadly.

It'll be polished up slightly with a couple of tweaks taken from the German production.

So if Oh Yes has been taken out, does the stalker say one word throughout the whole show? I've read tour reviews which say he doesn't? SPOILER! He doesn't speak in act one but in act two has a brief bit of dialogue involving Fletcher and then he sings a line in the finale. As for the rest he just stands there looking ripped.

Well over half the house was comped. No wonder. I was offered some and turned it down. They'd have to pay ME to see this.
