There is no way all 900 will have been sold. There'll be loads of guests and industry people to get their input, the creative team will watch every show, as well as potential investors.
So £18,000 is unlikely, and even less after paying the venue, rehearsal fees, cast, the band if there is one, so even chumpier change. I think its cool what they're doing.
I remember paying a LOT for the Bad Girls musical workshop (ahem) several (ahem) years ago at Charing Cross. Mind you, the workshop was bad, the end production also wanted locking up.

Granted, totally get your point and share your opinion, however just to flag Isaac’s pronouns are they/them, so, respectfully, maybe edit your post to reflect that. Isaac goes by all pronouns (they/he/she) as per the programme and Twitter. Ah my mistake 🤣

What doesn't make sense to me is that he didn't announce this in a statement via the Phantom website, but in an article in the Evening Standard. Most likely because the core staff he mentions he hasn’t temporarily let go won’t include whoever looks after the phantom website. His PR team wouldn’t be responsible for that.

Just to warn you all if you’ve not yet watched the final. Netflix have really helpfully used a screen grab for that particular episode when you choose it from the list. Said screen grab? Oh just a queen. Holding a sceptre. Therefore showing you who wins.
Clang.
Way round it might be to go from the previous episode and scroll through so the final autoplays from there.

The Wicked Witch of the East mini-song in Act 2 of Wicked. I guess it wasn’t included on the album as it’s a mix of song and dialogue, but I’ve always found that moment in the show very affecting. Also from Wicked, the mirroring dance that E & G do together in ‘Dancing Through Life’. It’s a lovely part of the score and a very moving moment in the show. Every chance I’m wrong but I remember reading somewhere it’s not included so it doesn’t give away the spoiler in what becomes of Boq and who he goes on to be in WoO? I’m loving this post. For me it’s the first four notes (the I Wish I May notes before the ladies fly in Witches of Eastwick. The original house, the three women floating at the top of the stage before slowly gliding out in and around the house was a beautiful moment.

I’m the last to be negative about a new musical, or CFT, it’s very slickly staged, but caught this over the past two days but it’s hard work. Very little actually happens, which is sad given the calibre of casting. What a shame. Would love to see some other CFT musicals streamed, they are usually brilliant but felt this wasn’t a winner.

Oh wow, that’s amazing news. I was watching the second series on dvd the other day. You forget what mini-masterpieces they are. Would be great to see a new look for them, although the originals are awesome.

Saw the NT Live’s Twelfth Night last night and absolutely loved it. If there’s one thing this lockdown has given me it’s really reintroduced me to Shakespeare. Between this and watching the Tate/Tennant Much Ado last week and the Globe’s Taming of the Shrew on DVD it’s really taken me back to my school days studying them and left me wondering why I avoided them since. Brilliant.
Tamsin was obviously brilliant, but a wonderful company in general and beautifully staged. Might even wear some yellow tights today.

Wow that’s exciting. I never saw it but is one actor as Frank stronger than the other? Not to put either against each other, they’re both wonderful actors, just wondered if there is a ‘best’ combination of roles?
I’m also excited about Tamsin tonight!

Tonight's NT at screening of Treasure Island was an absolute joy to watch. Enjoyed it, though it's a shame they changed the ending! Glad to finally get to see it - the first thing I saw Patsy Ferran in was My Mum's A Tw*t on the recommendation of this website, and now she's one of the actors I always book for. I really enjoyed this. Loved the staging too. Out of interest, adding spoilers if necessary, how did the ending changed? Must admit I never read the book as a child so was watching it cold anyway.

Seems strange to me that they’re going to be promoting Joseph on BGT, but they won’t include the actor playing him in the performance. Surely they’d want all the main cast members getting exposure? They’re the names being used to plug the BGT appearance. Given the Narrator and Pharaoh don’t have much business in the show of course it’ll feature more cast. It’s too good a promotional opportunity not to.

The King and I has just announced it has broken the record at the Palladium - £1,058,317.50! Assuming all seats sold (I believe most forum members who have been commented how full it was) that's an average of about £57 a ticket. Very impressive for London! However compare this to New York, the average ticket for Margaritaville works out higher than this! Show just how much cheaper the majority of tickets are in London. But that’s the record for that particular week at the Palladium they are spinning. It’s impressive but doesn’t take into account the dynamic and premium pricing which drive the ticket average upward which then hides the many (many) tickets sold at heavily discounted prices or comps. It’s a marketing trick.

something special or different is happening in the show tonight, but i don't know what.... What gave you that impression Given current sales they've linked up with Today Tix and on Tuesdays you can meet a cast member after the show. Not sure it's a bonus myself.

She's in talks for a takeover in a long running west end show. A role that will be the first in the show's history and good for them for thinking of it. Cryptic I know but you'll soon find out.

Just asking, HG , don't get too worked up. It is possible. It sounds like it is v good from what people are saying here and she is a bit of a draw, no? I wonder when the NT last transferred a Shakespeare to the West End. Did the Richard Eyre/Ian McKellen Richard III make it? None of the great NT Shakespeares I can think of did: Hytner/Lester Othello, Eyre/Holm Lear, Nunn/Goodman Merchant, though that transferred from the Cottesloe to the Olivier, I think.
Come to think of it, when was the last time the NT transferred a play to the West End that wasn't a new play? It rarely happens, if at all. The odd musical, I suppose: Carousel, My Fair Lady.
War Horse and Curious Incident....?

When does it open and who is Hannigan? Ugh Why not wait until something's been officially announced babes. If your usually joyfully perky manner can wait.

It was okay. It was certainly a lavish affair, some really beautiful designs including some impressive truck work assembling the castle which rotated and moved to create different scenes. Be Our Guest was a long, lavish and show-stopping moment, even the transformation scene was pretty magical. It built it's way up from simple opening scenes into more large-scale scenery and costumes were glorious. It felt a bit lost in such a huge venue but it was a good show.

I think we all know that Carrie Hope Fletcher should Dick with Danielle Hope as Alice (Danielle's done it in Birmingham this year) and Kerry Ellis should be Fairy Bowbells with Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Queen Rat Your average punters wouldn't know or care who any of those ladies are though, however talented. And CHF's ego wouldn't fit through the Palladium dock doors. Probably.

I saw Qdos dick in Liverpook two years ago and didn't love it. The dick joke got reaaaaaaaaaaly old. Still I look forward to the casting. Be good if they got the a lister names they didn't get this year (Kylie, Brittany)..... That wouldn't have been Qdos, they don't do Liverpool. It's FFE.

I think Lesley Joseph would be a decent Mrs Meers. Hoping this production comes to Northern Ireland. She's already done it before hasn't she?
