I've just seen it today in Sheffield and although initially disappointed with the quite small cast, I really enjoyed it. Definitely Tom Chambers is the star of the show but Charlotte Wakefield has such a lovely voice and could dance her socks off. I was sitting in the gods, so wasn't 100% sure if Caroline Flack was on, but as others have said, it's a small part anyway, but if it was her, she was perfectly ok without being outstanding.

^I would add that the second rule is to keep the customer coming back for more - if you know what's sensible...
Well thanks to your website theatremonkey, and info from other members of this board, I went to four shows in London and paid under £20 a ticket for all of them.

I know this is a very sensitive issue, but I was at the theatre last week when a person with some learning difficulties talked, moaned, shouted and sang through the whole of the first act. The two ladies sitting next to me went and complained at the interval (not sure I could do that myself, although it was very off-putting) and it was somewhat quieter in the second half of the show. I have found this tends to happen very regularly in matinee performances, which I do tend to go to myself as I am usually on my own and feel more comfortable going home whilst it's still light.

Well I saw it today and enjoyed it. Yes it probably is aimed at ladies past the first flush of youth (in my case, way past) but it was a nice way of spending a few hours. I thought the 'Band' were very good both singing and dancing and the young and older 'girls' all played their parts really well. The older women were 'real' women, who all had lives nothing like as glamorous or exciting as they planned as youngsters. Standing ovation at the end too. My only criticism is the pricing is way too high for a regional tour at just under £50 for a stalls seat.

Didn't impress me much at west end live but due to all the nominations decided to splurge out on a £10 preview ticket.
I hope you enjoy it. I loved it in Sheffield (as did the rest of the audience). It is very regional though so I'm not sure how they will handle this in the West End, or how non Northerners will 'get' a lot of the dialogue.

A friend of mine who has always been a bit 'arty' and lived not too far from our local theatres, rented her spare room out for years to various actors on 'tours'. She really enjoyed it and of course the extra money came in handy. She was a divorcee and it always worried me her being on her own, but didn't bother her one bit. She moved to a smaller house, further away from the theatres and so no longer does this.

And to answer if I'd do anything differently - hell yes! I'd become a plumber 'cos they earn one heck of a lot more than I do, and don't even need to turn up for work half the time! (And when they do they do a lot of tutting and breathing out which seems easy money to me....)
There isn't enough money in the world would entice me to clear hairballs that look like rats out of bunged up showers and I can't even think about blocked loos.

We saw it last Thursday and I'm sorry to say I was really disappointed. I know we were in the cheap seats in the circle, but I couldn't make out a lot of the dialogue and found the story quite hard to follow (even though I have seen the film, but many years ago). My husband, who is not English, really struggled. The ballet seemed to go on and on (and I like ballet, when I know that's what I'm going to see).

I saw it today in Sheffield. Les Dennis wasn't on owing to his 'indisposition' according to the announcement. It was ok, and Cameron Blakely as Gomez held it together for me. Slightly better in the second half and I did enjoy the 'tango'. The audience went nuts at the end, maybe I just see too many shows.

Salford and Sheffield are honest working class cities and are both lucky enough to have very good theatres for the locals to visit after they've fed their whippets.

Interval point at tonight's showing. Expected to hate it but I just can't. It's pleasant enough. Full thoughts later. The stalls are less than half full and the gallery is closed. Not great that they can't sell enough tickets in their hometown.
I'm amazed as there was very little choice for me when I booked my one ticket a month or so ago.

We went on Friday night, stalls A0 and A1 and were really surprised how much leg room there actually was (thank you theatremonkey). Like 99.9% of everyone on here, we just loved it from start to finish, the best show I've seen in absolutely ages. I was buzzing when I came out, the costumes, dancing, singing, in fact everything about it was superb. Just wish I lived in London so I could see it more often.

Seats are very uncomfortable here. They are just metal at your back - no padding. Would advise you to take a cushion for your back.
I'm in my 60's and my husband is in his 70's and we didn't find them uncomfortable at all, and there was more leg room than in many other theatres.

We saw the matinee on Thursday, seats D65 and D66 which is actually the second row back from the revolve on slightly the left side and missed very little. There was a narrow pillar slightly to my right but it didn't spoil it for me at all, I just moved my head slightly. I absolutely loved it, the venue was so intimate and the Moes were all so slick with their dancing and timing. For £15 a ticket it was a steal. Loved the whole speakeasy set up from the bar into the theatre. Great atmosphere.

You should do quite well, as they are at least more central than the ones I had a report from. Wow on those Sunset prices.
I am a Centre Stage Member (for £35 a year I get £3.50 off all tickets) and have booked on the midweek matinee, which is quite a bit cheaper than other days and got our tickets for £35.00 in the rear stalls, so not too bad.

I'm going to the Kite Runner in Nottingham this week which I'm really looking forward to as wanted to see it for ages!
I loved the book, but it's incredibly sad and I'm not sure I could sit through it all without bawling my eyes out.

I listen to Elaine Paige most Sundays while cooking our Sunday lunch and some of the recordings she plays are awful, so I will reserve my judgement for when I actually see it.

Ours are D62 and D63. Oh well, for £15 it's worth a punt. I've just booked for the tour of Sunset Boulevard and the cheapest seats at my local theatre (back of the gods) are £27.

Went the other night. Show was sweet with great performances. The main issue we had was the pros design with so many poles in the way I missed 80 percent of the show. The ring layout was used but then most of the show is played to the inside crowd - most of the audience is sat at the sides and the back. I really think those speigletents really only work with the action played in the middle on a raised podium. The seating plan didn't work well and it was directed badly without that in mind which is a shame. Oh dear. We're going Thursday afternoon and have booked the 'cheap seats'. It's going to be a mega rush for us as our coach doesn't get into London until 11.50 (if it's on time of course). We have to get to our hotel near Euston and then get over to Marble Arch for 2.30pm. Not sure if it's worth the stress if you can't see anything.

I bet it's the funny ginger one from the chip shop playing the James Corden part.
Do you mean Chesney? He's not overweight, or funny and I don't think he can sing. Bound to be him then.

What would you say the chances of getting a discounted ticket from the Dominion itself would be? We are going to London on 7th (for the Proms) and will be really short of time to book into our hotel, then go to TKTS, and then the Dominion. Our hotel is near Euston Station, so walkable.

Well we saw Natasha on Saturday in Bradford and she was pretty amazing to be honest. Lots of what seemed like ad libbing, firstly when she sat down a bit hard on Darius's knee and then when her moustache wouldn't stay put and she ended up sticking it on her forehead. We were in the balcony and once or twice it was a bit difficult to follow a small part of the dialogue, but not enough to spoil it for us. I thought the whole production was fantastic.

I'm wondering whether to wait and risk it when we go down in September. Depends a lot WHEN in September. The days around "kids back to prison" weeks are often quiet, the days "kids off to open prison" week from mid-September get busier as students start / return and catch up on theatregoing, I tend to notice.
Well we're staying at the LSE in student accommodation, so they definitely won't be back yet. Our actual dates are Thursday 7th to Monday 11th September as we're going to Proms In The Park on the Saturday. Have booked 42nd Street for the Friday night and I even wondered about fitting in a crafty matinee on the Saturday, but maybe that's pushing it a bit.

Just managed to get a ticket on TodayTix for the middle of row R in the stalls for £23 for Saturday afternoon...really surprised as it isn't mentioned as one of the discounted shows...so basically a saving of £50. A friend of mine got a stalls row D ticket for today's matinee for £20 at 11.30am. I'm wondering whether to wait and risk it when we go down in September.

I can't decide whether to go and see this next week. There are never any bloody discounts in Nottingham and don't know if I want to see it enough to pay full price! Do fellow theatre-boarders recommend going to it?
We're going to the matinee on Saturday so I will let you know what I think. Disappointed Sheridan isn't going to be on but it can't be helped.

Re Miss Hannigan, I think she does have to be able to sing. The role has always been cast that way, at least in the US - Dorothy Loudon, Carol Burnett, Nell Carter and, most recently Katie Finneran and Jane Lynch. All of them with good or, at least, decent voices. Um.. Leslie Joseph? Craig Revel Horwood?
I've heard Craig Revel Horwood sing and he's not bad actually. Could Glen Close sing in Sunset Boulevard? Not really but she still made the role sensational.
