Haven't heard of any of the cast but I like discovering new people 😁 booked for March, looking forward to ticking this off the list! It is a great show with a superb cast. Genevieve is mesmerising. I think you will enjoy the magic...

Burly
What is the seating/ staging like? Is it like it was for Parade or Yank?

Ok, so I’m not the target audience for this, which is probably why I’ve never seen a film version or read the book. However it slaps you round the face with charm until you’re beaten into submission. It’s almost disneyesque in its cuteness and occasionally just goes a bit far with it but for the most part does stay the right side of twee. The performances are great, cast of 10, the girls parts are all really well acted although Jo could do with just pulling it back a bit given the size of the space. The actor playing Amy was my fave, and the spitting image of a young Sarah Brightman. Band is piano and four strings, sounded great except for the bits where it was over amplified and the actors had to compete. Early days though, I think Press night is tomorrow. Probably the most simple set and design that I’ve seen at the HMT since Parade and some similarities to the way that show was staged but not as effective. Some wobbly bits which is dead distracting close up. Its nice. I liked it. I wouldn’t see it again. Can’t see a transfer, but again it’s early days. Six of us were split. Half liked it, half didn’t. I give it three stars.

Got my Manchester tickets. First night £10 off so £40 each, decent stalls seats. Bit cheaper than Matilda

Fantastic production. Sound was excellent and the band sounded superb. The leads were all great. Danny Mac was good and he can act and sing...Ria has fantastic expressions and her journey to madness was good and I could listen to her voice all day. I did find the moving of the set and staircase a bit annoying at times but it was clever staging .

Yep. The night we saw it in Blackpool was delayed for over an hour as Darren Day had to fly in from Top of the Pops in London. Those were the days...

As seen at the Forum Theatre Wythenshawe! Where the tickets cost about £2.50! Those were the days! The Rink! The Rink! Yep. Saw it in sunny Wythenshawe in the day. Paul Kerryson, one of his great shows, Pacific Overtures etc. Happy days

Vivienne is played by the fantastic Laura Harrison. Have seen her in Little shop of horrors and more recently Parade at Hope Mill Manchester. She has also toured a lot in Blood Brothers.

If you like Legally Blonde the Musical you will love this production. Great set with portals representing pillars at wonky angles which is reflected in the angled sets which fly in and trucked on from the sides. Sometimes these set pieces anchored the action a little too far upstage on this large stage, however, but some really creative, different direction from the London production (no spoilers) which really worked from the opening number OMG You Guys to Whipped Into Shape which is exhausting even to watch let alone perform - this cast are fit! Great lighting design - lots of Elle pink, blues, and violet. Pretty, colourful and suited the candy floss nature of the show. Great costumes. The show really looked terrific. Money has been spent! Terrific ensemble of course who worked their socks off and sang and danced up a storm - some really inventive choreography especially during Gay and European. The tempo of the show slower than in London and the famous Broadway production. The numbers just a little slower, which although adds to the running time, made the dialogue and what was happening on stage crystal clear which sometimes does not happen with this show. So the show came down at 10.20 last night but started 10 minutes late. So running time 2.40 with interval. Usually 15 mins shorter than this but the show gained clarity taking a little more time. Principle performances very good, some will get more into the roles as the run progresses. The show benefits from having a superb Elle played by Lucie Jones who not only looks sensational in a long blonde wig, but has a lovely on stage personality and presence and above all in an almost sung through show a stunning voice. Liam Doyle as Warner was suitably unlikeable and David Barrett made a convincing Emmett. Bill Ward as Callahan will ease into the part as the run continues - he looked a shade uncomfortable last night with some of the rather tricky numbers he has to perform but made a decent fist of it. Rita Simmons as Paulette (for me) gave the weakest performance of the night. Vocally OK but the number Ireland was not knocked out of the park like it should have been. She was hampered in her portrayal I thought by the most hideous huge pantomime wig - it needs (literally) cutting. So a cracking production - high production values and well worth catching - coming to a theatre near you! Plus two cute dogs of course - what's not to like? I was at the same performance. This is the first performance of the UK Tour, so really a first preview and it showed in places, with some sound issues and some crashing and banging backstage, the production will improve when it gets tighter, but saying all that the show is so soppy and dizzy and blonde, it is also insanely enjoyable and the book is oddly quite smart, which is accompanied by a score that as some great highlights, especially the title song. As pointed out some great performances, the chihuahua wasn't one of them, who got a sudden bout of stage-fright, I also thought the actress who played Vivienne Kensington did a fine job. Elle is always adorable, even though she is a 'preppie'. I also enjoyed Warner and Emmett. Quite a big set for a tour, but flimsy.

I'm looking to drive here to watch a Sunday show - is theatre easy to get too or do I have to compete for road space with the trams - which quite frankly terrifies me 😱? We usually go to a Sunday show. Just avoid a day when Man City are at home as car park and roads nearby get full. Otherwise it's a pretty easy drive, tram tracks not too troublesome. Small car park for Hope Mill but if you get there an hour before you'll be fine usually. Its a lovely place with great people. Enjoy the bar

I saw it on Tuesday evening. I actually got over the accent thing within 10 minutes, I could sort of see how incongruous but possible it might be for a low rent northern drag queen to find herself falling on her feet and landing a man and a job on the Riviera. But one of my group was affronted by it and it totally spoilt it for him. A couple of other clangers for us were the "peacock" costume, which looked terrible from the front stalls. His yellow two-piece outfit when he was playing "mother" was hideous and jarred completely in that scene and the lack of an amazing costume for the Finale was a disappointment. On the whole we enjoyed it though. He would make a BRILLIANT Frank'nFurter. Does JP get very emotional at the end of every performance? He was in bits on Tuesday night. It was his "home town" show, first night only a few weeks after his mum had died. He made the heart symbol and said love you mum at the end

Yes. For a tv performance I thought it came across well. If you liked that you should love the show with the staging, lighting etc. I loved it in Manchester. It has its faults but it's great fun and a real spectacle. Enjoy it London

Not seeing the show until August but I listen to the soundtrack and I am curious what they do with that line about American theatres! I think it's a funny line

I've got a question regarding a lyric and as I doubt I'll get to see this tour, I thought I'd appeal to anyone who may have already seen this particular production and has a penchant for remembering lyrics!! It's the punchline to a series of lyrics & I don't want to upset anyone who may not want to see, so I'll put it in a spoiler tag: {Spoiler - click to view} In 'One Normal Night', Fester has the lyrics 'Was ballet right for Balanchine, was Polio right for the Salk vaccine' and then followed by a punchline, originally on Broadway it was: 'Were you folks right for the mezzanine?', but for places where that would make no sense (i.e the West End where the word 'mezzanine' doesn't really exist) there was an alternative written: 'Was rehab right for Charlie Sheen?".
This seems like quite an out-dated reference now, so I was wondering if anyone who has seen it can remember what line Les Dennis used? For no reason other than my personal wondering. Thanks!

Not aware of any at all despite very poor sales. Was there last night. Not even a quarter full. Very quiet. Clearly affected the performances I was thinking of going last night but when I saw how empty the theatre would be i was put off as I guessed it might create a poor atmosphere. Were all levels open or did they move people? Can't believe there's no offers given the poor sales Gallery ticket holders were upgraded. Felt sorry for the cast. Could have been better with a bigger house

Well, don't go if you're not keen on Stein man but,wow what an experience. Never seen staging like it, all around and above the stage. Lighting, sound and band top drawer. All the main roles were brilliantly sung plus many other ensemble roles as well. For me Danielle Steers and Dominic Hartley were the standouts. Story a bit naff, Peter Pan kind of, visually great, nice use of cameras, massive set, some choreography a bit cheesy but what can you do with Meatloaf songs. Anyway, really enjoyed it. Give it a try. Pricey tickets though for decent seats
